Coastal seafood is their specialty, and they do it well. Everything we ordered, from the local greens to the seafood boil to the truffle parmesan pomme frites were spectacular. The service was perfect, and the ambiance welcoming and intimate. We’ll be back on future Seattle trips!

The price of the brunch compared to what was offered did not make sense. Advertisement of the brunch was misleading. Food and plates were not being stocked as you would expect especially given the fact that this was supposed to be an expensive “nicer” brunch spot. Hygiene and overall cleanliness was lacking. We were extremely disappointed and chucked it as a loss of nearly $600 for mediocre French toast and scrambled eggs for a party of four. Wish we would have done anything else other than come here for a special day for Mothers Day.

The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. The parking situation is hard even with the $22 valet parking. The mothersday brunch was very ok. The lamb and Mac and cheese was delicious. Everything else seemed like a standard hotel breakfast. This brunch cost over $200 after a surcharge and gratuity they charged everyone. I was expecting to celebrate my wife for her very first mother's day and the food was very boring and disappointing. We traveled over an hour away and it just was not worth it.

Went for the Mother’s Day brunch and wished we went elsewhere when we tried the food. Our reservation was at 12:15, it was buffet style—food tasted like it was the first batch made for when the restaurant opened. the french toast and waffles were insanely dry, had trouble soaking up the syrup, the bacon could’ve been cooked a touch longer, and everything else was very mid. Ordered a single pour of XO cognac and it was by far the most I’ve spent at any restaurant in Seattle. The waiter said he’d bring the menu to me but never did. When it came time to pay the bill, it was insanely high due to the overpriced single pour, PLUS the waited took it upon himself to add 20% gratuity. The only mention of added gratuity was for parties of 5+. It was literally just my mom and me. When I asked him what the “Surcharge” was, he explained it’s for healthcare, wages, etc. When I asked why gratuity was automatically added and who exactly chose 20%, he stated that it was added to all brunch checks. Again, the OpenTable listing mentioned nothing about this, we weren’t ever given a menu of any kind that would’ve stated this, and none of the identifying food cards said this. He quickly said he’d get the manager and then brought the bill over with gratuity removed and no manager. For the first time in years, I truly felt compelled to leave no tip and did just that. His service was borderline poor, awkward aura, would rudely insert himself to pour water or take a plate… I’ve had way better experiences and mind you, this wasn’t even to try their core food offerings that they’re known for. Horrible all around, would not return.

It was a case of here is your food, now go! The hamachi crudo was tasteless. One cannot believe that it came out of the same kitchen as the octopus, duck and scallops. The latter 3 was tasty and flavourful. The atmosphere was rushed. We were there for under an hour. We felt rushed. Will not recommend.

Had a wonderful dinner with my wife. Staff was amazing and dinner was perfect. Charred octopus and scallops were perfectly good. My wife had the duck with was also perfectly cooked and extremely tender. Will definitely come back when visiting Seattle again!

Very solid restaurant. Food was well-executed but you pay exactly what you would expect for how good the food is. Maybe a bit more. Portions were also about what you’d expect. Service was very good.

The staff was outstanding and the waiter was very polite. Unfortunately the food was undercooked fritters cold dough in center, shrimp raw, scallops raw and the pork was raw with lots of fat and sinew. I was on my anniversary and didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to ruin the evening or moment.

Despite boasting great ingredients, the food fell short in flavor, leaving much to be desired. Appetizers (hushpuppies and tiger prawns) outshined the main entrees (scallops, duck and pork). The drinks were decent. However, the service was exemplary, providing an exquisite dining atmosphere. Overall, while there are highlights to be found, the lack of flavor in the main dishes coupled with the high cost may leave diners wanting more.

I was excited to try this place due to the overall positive reviews. My husband and I were visiting from the DC area for a conference and are used to paying the high prices for quality food. We waited about 35-40 minutes for our food after ordering and it was subpar. I would not recommend the halibut dish. I possibly ordered the wrong dish for my palette but to each their own. Giving this place a three star because the service was decent but they overall good was not worth the price.

After flying in to Seattle we were fortunate to get in at this incredible restaurant. Upon arrival staff and hostess were polite and welcoming. We were seated close to the chefs area and got to observe farm to table cooking in action. Robin, our waitress was outstanding. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, her easy going presence made the experience all the more enjoyable. The food was OUTSTANDING, table service was fast, and efficient without being pushy. We have starters, manes sides and dessert all was incredible. I would highly recommend Shaker and Spear to anyone visiting Seattle, and we will most definitely be back. Thank you for making our 23rd anniversary supper a memorable one!

Food was pretty good, but nothing exceptional, service was fabulous and couldn’t have asked more. The portion sizes for the price were terrible, this restaurant serves tasting menu portions at high end bistro prices. A cheese board comprising two slices of cheese crumbled ‘for aesthetics’ and a pan fried duck breast that we only received two and a half slices of, just left us feeling disappointed. We likely won’t return.

Robyn was our very knowledgeable server. The oysters were perfect. My branzino was prepared perfectly. The rice and beans as a side were absolutely delish. We are already looking at our calendar for another Seattle trip!

Truly excellent dining experience all around from start to finish. The food was delicious, creative, and well presented, foregrounding fresh local ingredients. The service was also really excellent. A lot of restaurants have suffered a bit in service recently, but this was a masterclass of great service. Highly recommended

My husband and I had a lovely experience at Shaker and Spear. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We shared the charred octopus and oysters on the half shell, which were amazing. My husband had the halibut and I had the scallops and both were outstanding. We will be back, hopefully with our friends and definitely recommend!

We had a delightful meal out and Brent took great care of us! The scallops, sole, and shaved brussel sprouts were outstanding! The wine list was great as were to cocktails in this eclectic, energetic local gem! With its lively vibe, excellent service, and open kitchen, we enjoyed dinner & would definitely return.

I love their dinners—the brunch wasn’t as great. I brought guests in from out of town and ordered the Salmon Benedict—and got exactly that. Two lonely Salmon Benedict. No side of anything. Not at all memorable.

First time dining here and absolutely loved it. Everything we had was great and perfectly cooked. Originally from the south and those were some of the best if not the best collard greens I’ve ever eaten. Will definitely be back .
