I generally like the White Dog, this location in particular seems to have a problem with salt. Every savory item is overly salty. I thought this may have changed since I last ate at this location, but alas it has not. Hard to appreciate the flavors of the entree and appetizer when salt 8s the predominant flavor. I appreciate the options for non meat eaters. Thoroughly enjoyed the seasonal desserts! The strawberry shortcake torte is exquisitely delicious! When paying with a debit card, unlike other local establishments, this establishment continues to charge the credit card processing fee, despite saying it will not, which is annoying.

Loved the doggie decor. So creative and well done. Having dining in small rooms was comfortable and cut down on noise My husband loved the meatloaf. I was disappointed that the bucatini was very spicy but it was replaced easily by an attentive server.

Always a treat to dine at the White Dog! The "dog" decor is cheery, whimsical and very comfortable. Makes it seem like home. The menu is varied and current, filled with local flair. I can't wait to go back!

Arrived on time. Server arrived at table just after we were seated and took our drink orders. Came back in 10 minutes to take food order and said bar was backed-up. At 25 minutes food arrived, but no drinks. Drinks finally made it to table. Food was tasty. Service overall was attentive. Bar service at peak dinner hour needs improvement.

Disappointing experience where the food was rushed (we had asked to not get entrees before appetizers were finished) and food was not prepared per request. Service and food are usually better but this was not.

Our last meal at any White Dog venue. Friday night, table for four. Well prepared (mostly) but overpriced, underportioned main courses. Friendly server but food runners table dishes in a frenzed, chaotic manner, and room captain (not sure what to call the guy) was plainly rude. The topper was seriously overpriced, wholly ordinary cocktails (over $100 for four cocktails with tip and tax) and the credit card fee surcharge. When you charge people the price of two "handles" for four cocktails, you'd think there was sufficient margin to cover processing fees. There are dozens of Philadelphia restaurants with better cuisine, better service, and less greedy operators.

I really enjoyed the verlasso (sp?) salmon. Hannah was our server, and she was terrific. White Dig has a charming, eclectic decor that is welcoming. I highly recommend!

I try to visit The White Dog every time I'm in Philadelphia. The food is always delicious and fresh and seasonal. I know it will be tasty and the price is competitive.

The food was delicious and presented very well. Service was attentive. During lunch, the room we were in was very loud. But the prices have skyrocketed, seemingly more than most restaurants. It no longer falls within a lunch budget. What a shame.

It took a long time for our server to come to our table and bring water. There were other tables that were seated after us that were greeted by their server and given water before us.

Wonderful time at brunch, service was excellent, staff was friendly, food came out quick and was delicious. Absolutely recommend the pork belly Benedict, and absolutely recommend coming here to eat :)

Came on a busy Friday night for a pre-show meal. Server was excellent. We enjoyed the spicy Thai steak salad and the double cheddar burger. Both were delicious. Entire restaurant is very loud, and busy. Food came out quickly and we got in and out in about 70 minutes.

White Dog never disappoints. The service and food were terrific, and I loved the fun atmosphere. I've dined here as a student at Penn, had business dinners here, and often meet friends here for drinks or a bite to eat. It has a lively vibe, fun decor, and a seriously quirky layout that somehow offers room for everyone's enjoyment.

Couldn’t hear conversation with spouse from across table. View looked out at dumpsters. 3% added for paying with card, so paid with cash. Waitress did not take 3% off. When brought to her attention it became an issue . Returned some of 3% except change, saying we don’t deal with change. Poor service from waitress.

Got here late, all good with hostess, very pricey for what they gave, my salmon was small and cost $32, but it was tasty, i would definitely go back if i am in their neighborhood.

Only complaint is that I asked for a quiet warm space and was seated in an area with a large party and next to two loud diners. The restaurant was interesting in its layout and every space seemed noisy. The servers were knowledgeable and very helpful with suggestions. The food was good. Would recommend the place to dog lovers who don’t mind a noisy ambiance.

Such a fun evening! The restaurant is so eclectic. The menu has a lot of variety and a few items can be made vegan by leaving off the cheese. I appreciated the selection of draft beers, non alcoholic cocktails, and wines. We didn’t have dessert but the table next to us had 8 different desserts delivered to their table and they looked fabulous. It is a special place to celebrate and I noticed many birthday celebrationsI I felt like we had a leisurely dinner and didn’t feel rushed to finish. This is my go to place in University City.

It was okay. Not great. Smallest oysters we have ever had. They were weird for the price. We both had cheeseburgers with an egg. They both dropped outbursts after the first bite and we both had to eat with a fork. Roll was soaked. Also, we received all our food within minutes of ordering. Sometimes fast can seem way too fast.

Excellent, reliable, classic restaurant in University City, perfect for special occasions or a nice night out. I was back for the first time in over 15 years to celebrate a colleague and was greeted by the nicely renovated bar. The host quickly seated us and our server Samantha was just awesome, cheerful and professional. Everyone fully enjoyed the experience, from the wine to the entrees (the lamb shank is fully worth the price!) and dessert (ditto for the vanilla bean creme brulee). Afterwards some of us moved to the bar for a nightcap and were once again rewarded with classy service. Good to be back!

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at White Dog Cafe - University City. The service was poor at best, the food was fair and the restrooms were deplorable. We will not be returning.
