Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Taking a detailed, seasonal, and sustainable approach with small and large plate offerings, the kitchen brings new life to the favorite hallmarks of American oyster bar fare and raw bar. Food is great, but I did notice a few things I'm not really happy with. First, the service. I came to the restaurant for the celebration of a birthday and I added a note when I made the reservation. However, our waiter never even said a simple "happy birthday" or bother to ask if we were here today for any special occasion. Not to mentioned we did not get anything complementary (like a small dessert or something similar) which I got here last year (for birthday as well) or at a similar high-end restaurant (like Alpen Rose). Second, the tip. The pre-calculated tip is based on the after-tax price, not before tax. Third, when I paid the bill over the machine, another waiter just looked over my head all the time, made me fell really uncomfortable. Seafood is fresh and tasty, but I doubt if I will come back or recommend to a friend because of the service.

Vernick Fish is easily one of the best restaurants I've been to in Philly, and I've been to many. I highly recommend the ceviche, the baked oysters, the scallops with morels, and the strawberry shortcake. It's a higher priced restaurant but it is absolutely worth the price. Both the quality of the food and the service was amazing, the portion sizes were excellent, and the extra touches they gave for our special event were very fun. I would come back here in a heartbeat!

The food is outstanding and easy to tell that great care and detail went into each course. The oysters were among the best we've had anywhere. We were most impressed with the sound level- it was so easy to have a conversation even with the surrounding tables filled with conversant people.

The food and the service are impeccable!! We had the ramps and pasta, oysters, octopus, shrimp cocktail and the sea bream. Everything was so amazing.
