Vernick Fish presents Philadelphia’s own, Chef Greg Vernick’s exploration beyond the boundaries of a seafood restaurant. His ingredient-driven cooking style, paired with a love for global flavors, results in an inventive menu of fish and shellfish dishes, and a range of vegetable preparations. Never hade a bad experience. Not only is the food second to none in the entire city, but the service is top of the line. The knowledge, precision, and anticipation the staff have to cater your experience is outstanding.

The food was excellent as always, the service a bit slow, but --serviceable. The only issue was that two of the four main courses came out "as if someone had dumped a whole can of Morton's salt over them," as one of the victims put it. The kitchen was able to rectify the problem fairly quickly, though all the dishes remained redolent of that site's free hand with the (no doubt artisanal) salt. The other issue is the insane cost of wines. Almost all of them are $30 or so a (measly pour of a) glass, and there are very few bottles under the list for under $100.

Food is great, but I did notice a few things I'm not really happy with. First, the service. I came to the restaurant for the celebration of a birthday and I added a note when I made the reservation. However, our waiter never even said a simple "happy birthday" or bother to ask if we were here today for any special occasion. Not to mentioned we did not get anything complementary (like a small dessert or something similar) which I got here last year (for birthday as well) or at a similar high-end restaurant (like Alpen Rose). Second, the tip. The pre-calculated tip is based on the after-tax price, not before tax. Third, when I paid the bill over the machine, another waiter just looked over my head all the time, made me fell really uncomfortable. Seafood is fresh and tasty, but I doubt if I will come back or recommend to a friend because of the service.
