I don’t normally write reviews but this place was so excellent it deserves it! The drinks to the dessert were amazing!! Very creative and delicious appetizers that I had never seen before. Will definitely be back!

Food was outstanding. The restaurant was busy with a line at the door - reservations recommended. Also there was a constant stream of food couriers picking up take out. You know the food is good. The menu was varied and everything we had was good, we especially enjoyed the Gobi Manchurian (a spicy fired cauliflower). We will be back for more!

Once again, we had a terrific meal at Thanal. We particularly liked the onion pakora and the Baingan Bharta. The food is outstanding in general and the prices good. The only small hiccup is that service is a bit on the slow side. We waited longer than expected for our drinks (one beer, one cider); the pause between opening course and main course was longer than it needed to be.

The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. I was glad I made a reservation, as we arrived right on schedule and we were seated at the only open table. Service was excellent, even though it was extremely busy. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, it came out quickly and was amazing. For our entrees, we had Chicken Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, and the Saag Chicken. Everything was excellent and the Naan bread tasted right out of the oven. What an amazing hidden gem.

Food was very good! Had chicken 65 and Chana chat with kale and spinach as appetizers, and lamb biryanis and butter chicken and garlic naan for meal. Excellent.

Food is always so flavorful with great spice level. They do a good job at having a classic variety of curries and traditional Indian cuisine items while still having some unique appetizers that help them stand out. Loved the crab Naan. Staff are friendly, attentive and polite.

Me and my mother went during restaurant week for lunch and it was not a pleasant experience. As soon as we were seated we were told to hurry up and order because the kitchen closed in 10 minutes. The waitress didn’t tell us her name and didn’t bother to come to our table to serve us. The hostess was basically our waitress which was odd. After ordering our food we were told that it was no rice AT ALL to pair with our food which I didn’t understand. After asking the manager about it he was the one to give us alternatives as far as rice options go. Overall it was a bad experience

We definitely enjoyed everything we ate. Four stars because the service felt very rushed. We finished eating and were given boxes and our check came out so quick, literally took the last bite of food and they were there with check and the machine to pay, barely got to look at the check. There wasn’t a wait either. It’s small there, so pretty loud. I’d return for the food. There is a parking lot near by, street parking was scarce.

It is a nice little restaurant with very good service and a pleasant atmosphere (not too crowded seating). However, the food comes a little bit short. For our taste it was bland. For people, who do not like spices, it may be the right choice.

With a little remediation after delivery of a cold soup, the meal was superb. the garlic naan was a highlight, the vindaloo as spicy as I had asked for it. Worth another visit at least.

The food was delicious; the butter chicken was a bit bland in my opinion, but the goat curry and garlic naan was so tasty. The service was a bit slow, but that was because the place was packed for a Tuesday night. Great Indian restaurant if you’re visiting Center City or looking for authentic cuisine.

Food is excellent, but service really needs work. Took 10 minutes to approach our table. The person who cleared the table dropped a dirty knife into my lap. He didn't even acknowledge it, AND it left a stain (damn..). I'll still go back though, but I'll be extremely cautious.

The service and accommodation at Thanal was outstanding. We had an impromptu large group dinner. The reservation grew steadily from 7 to nearly 20. They opened their space and figured out how to manage our group. Their reputation for outstanding food was well-deserved! They offered us their Restaurant Week menu (which was far more extensive then other restaurant week offerings I’ve seen.) We didn’t have a single complaint from anyone in the group. And we have some very discerning foodies. Well done!
