Sushi was decent but they really need to make it clear that their restaurant is within another restaurant and to head straight to the back. What we thought was the hostess was actually the hostess for the other restaurant and thus were given wrong information to wait at the bar. We sat there waiting for almost 20 min before we waved someone down to ask what was going on before someone finally came to get us. Obviously miscommunication, but we ended up eating for a measly 30 min ! and they kicked us out even before the full hour was up. I understand they needed to get another party in but they could’ve at least given us more time or comped us something for the extremely rushed dinner. We spent ~$200 for a 30 min “experience”.

Amazing food..... loved all 12 pieces. The negative was, we felt rushed. We were done in 30 minutes, instead of the 1 hour as advertised.

The sushi is delicious and fresh, but everything else about this place was disappointing. You go to omakase for the food and also for a dining experience. Sushi by Bou was more like a ramen counter. The food is delicious, but you're expected to come, eat, and then go. Our seating was for 6pm. I sat down around 6:05 and there was already a piece of sushi waiting for me before the server had poured water or took my drink order. My partner was delayed by the train and there were already 5/12 pieces sitting and waiting for him when he got there around 6:15. The entire omakase was served and done by 6:35. We were then asked if we wanted additional pieces which we did. They asked us to pay while we were finishing these pieces (no paper check left, the server came with a machine and so we needed to complete payment on the spot.) They were clearing our plates and napkins while we quickly finished our drinks. We were out the door by 6:55pm - in under an hour. The seating is technically for 90 min but because of how they've paced everything, you feel incredibly rushed in a passive aggressive way. The quality of fish is amazing, but I won't be coming back. Maybe if they offer takeout.

it pains me to write this review because this was my favorite restaurant in the city before they rebranded. while the food hasn’t change and is still just as delicious, the ambiance has completely been destroyed. i previously enjoyed interacting with the chefs and learning about the course, while eating at a comfortable pace. however, that atmosphere has changed drastically with music blasting the entire time so you can barely speak with the chefs and even worse what was supposed to be an hour long tasting was an extremely rushed 40 minute tasting. it was impossible to savor the courses and distinguish the different dishes because of the pace we were required to eat at. it’s such a shame this place fell into the trap of trying to be “trendier” when they were easily the best omakase in the city and they are now just average.

Although they advertise a 60min experience, expect to be done around the 30minute mark. The sushi chefs here work quickly and serve the sushi as soon as it is made. There is little room for conversation. Be advised that their entry is actually inside another restaurant, this isn’t noted on Open Table or google maps. Food overall was delicious and the yuzu lemonade was refreshing for the hot weather. If fast food omakase existed, this place offers exactly that experience.

The food was so fresh and delicious! The staff working was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I came on a date and we did the bougie omakase- yum! But we left still feeling a bit hungry after our experience.

I can honestly say this was the most subpar omakase experience I’ve had in Philly. $60 is pretty cheap for omakase, and you definitely get what you paid for. But I still don’t think it was deserving of $60. I would have rather spent that money on some menu items in the main restaurant, Izakaya by Yanaga. The chefs at Sushi by Bou weren’t very attentive, the atmosphere was overall extremely unorganized, and the service was subpar. I will say, I have nothing bad to say about the courses that were served. Sushi by Bou used to be Sushi Suite, which was my favorite omakase experience in Philly. Sadly, it does not measure up to the previous omakase experience that existed in the space. I don’t think I would recommend this place to other people.

Every aspect of the night was great. We loved the music along with the food and space. The staff were fantastic.
