We offer seating by reservation for all seats in the restaurant including seats at our bar, indoor dining room, and our outdoor porch which is a wonderful place to sit during all seasons (since porch sitting is a true Southport thing to do).

We always enjoy the atmosphere. The bar tender is excellent. The cocktail “party starter” sounds more intense than it is-it’s a flavorful cocktail (a perol and pomegranate juice etc.) that is refreshing. My meal was good. I had the scallops with a slaw that was delicious and roasted potatoes that were very salty. We spilt a delicious ice cream sandwich for dessert. Overall another great experience.

Exceptional preparation of farm to table ingredients. You feel as though you are a guest in someone’s home. Interesting menus with changing seasonal items. Owners greeting guests and preparing wonderful dishes in the kitchen. Special place….special people.

This was our second visit. Food was great although a bit pricey. Service was fabulous. Ambiance is pretty good on the porch but it could get toasty out there in the summer.

Food was okay - good but not memorable. Prices are a bit steep. Shocked that I was charged 75 cents for balsamic dressing for salad which I needed to substitute for buttermilk dressing that was included because of a milk allergy. Really? 42 dollars for flounder? 56 dollars for steak? This is small town Southport, not NYC

A gem in Southport. Dining on the porch is the best. A bit loud tonight with celebrations. Always excellent food (accommodation for food sensitivities a plus - best if you notify prior to dining)

Southern is probably the best food in Southport. The food is locally sourced and the dishes are creative without being over the top. I would give it a higher rating but feel that the menu is a little overpriced. And maybe this doesn't bother others, but I don't appreciate having to toss my own salad at the table in a fine dining restaurant.

Southern is my favorite restaurant in Southport! I eat there frequently and no matter what I order I always say the same thing “this is the best (fill in the blank) I’ve ever had. I love taking out of town visitors there and seeing their reaction to the warm and inviting atmosphere, outstanding service, and amazing food! I highly recommend Southern!

New menu items and WOW.. we tried the fried green tomatoes appetizer which four of us shared. Wonderful..the goat cheese and strawberries made an unusual and delicious combination..the local grouper was delightfully flavorful and our guests marveled at how tender the bone in pork chop turned out. My husband tried the filet suggested by our marvelous server, Carolyn and was not disappointed! The desserts were complex and rewarding. Another successful dinner at our new favorite place in town.

Husband’s birthday and food was outstanding! As always! Best restaurant in Southport! Please don’t ever, ever leave Southport! (Just a suggestion- not really a negative because we will always go back for the food and outstanding service, but the acoustics could improve. The table next to us was so loud and unruly that we could hardly carry on a conversation.) Thanks!

Southern never disappoints!! The food is always consistently excellent as is the service. I love bringing visitors from out of town and introducing them to this beautiful, friendly, and delicious 5 star Southport Restaurant!! Can’t wait to go back !

This is definitely one of the best of our newer restaurants in town. We have a lot of really good choices and we end up here about once every other week because The food is consistently wonderful with selections from local farm and fisherman. The staff is welcoming and well-informed. We love that we can trust our servers, both Carolyn and Carl , to steer us to new selections created by the talented cooking crew.

Our server, Caroline, was great! From the time we entered until the time we left, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious experience. The scallop entree was divine! Our server carefully watched and timed when to bring out our combination of apps, salad, bread and then the entree! It was a lovely evening. The weather was rainy outside and so the restaurant was not crowded. I wonder if it gets noisy if it is a packed house!

The pork chop was absolutely amazing and if you, like me, prefer to drink your dessert get the cock-a-tini (espresso martini with bourbon).

Everything was so delicious! The scallops and grits melted in your mouth! My husband is obsessed with the pork chop. Service is perfect and the outdoor porch is cozy and warm! I love this place!

Wonderful French onion soup on the menu and it was flavor dense with amazing rye sourdough croutons.. we try to try something different every time we go because everything is so wonderful .. And the service is always great. Love both Carl amd Carolina. Thanks Southern for taking such good care of us.

First time in, after making a reservation over a week before they gave us a table right by the door, it is a small place so everyone coming in the door would be on top of us. I asked to be moved which they did with a little bit of a fight. The place is tight inside very noisy, the menu was good but, but on Saturday nights they take the burgers off of the menu which was so annoying since I am a burger lover this was so disappointing to me. The menu is pricey., the pork chop was $39. Everything is farm to table, the food was very good, the waiter was also very good. It is difficult to change some of the sauces on the menu or have them on the side. Overall the food was good, loud inside, you sit very close to the other tables, pricey probably will not go back unless on a weeknight to try a burger.

Food, drinks, and service are 5 stars as always! This is our favorite restaurant in the area. The menu changes frequently, and the selections are always fresh and delicious. It's difficult to decide what to order! We love having Caroline as our server, too! If you're visiting or if you are local, be sure to try this wonderful restaurant out!! You won't be disappointed!

As always, we had a delightful time at Southern. The food was, as usual, right on point. My husband had the scallops special on grits and greens and couldn’t stop raving about it. I have a hard time not getting the Landenberger. It is just so awesome. And the southern salad is amazing. I particularly like the dressing, and I don’t usually like dressings on my salad. Caroline, our server, was as usual, friendly, efficient, and fun. She just added to the evening.

The food was excellent and so was the service. My only complaint is the pour for the drinks. I had an Old Fashion . There was about 3 sips worth in the glass with a massive cube for $16.00…… really?

Food was excellent as always. My Snowy Grouper with citrus pesto was so tasty. Other meals of Pork Chop, Scallops and Patty Melt plates were cleaned. My favorite bread plate with sweet potato butter didn’t disappoint. Nice wine selection and cocktails made to perfection. Service was great! Only issue was it was very loud on the porch last night.
