This is a very good old fashioned ‘red gravy’ restaurant. Good drinks, large portions of tasty food, a bit noisy. However, as many times as I order chicken livers RARE, they are always over done. We always take home half the orders, would recommend it, a good family restaurant, has valet parking, $15.

What a charming little neighborhood gem! The folks who work at and run this establishment take pride in it's rich history. It has a very family-friendly atmosphere. We had a mid-week 6pm reservation and every table was taken! I think it says a lot for a restaurant to be open for 124 years and still be able to be packed! I went with my vegetarian husband, picky kids (aged 8 and 10) and discerning mother-in-law. Let me tell you there was nothing wasted! We made the "clean plate club"! We ordered chicken parm, eggplant parm, plain ravioli and seafood linguine. For dessert we had tiramisu, cheesecake and chocolate cake (normally I'm not a fan of chocolate cake but this was awesome and moist.) In the 2 hours we were there, we witnessed a proposal, a young family's first dinner out with their newborn, and groups of friends, neighbors and family all around. When the proposal happened in the restaurant, the whole restaurant clapped! It was our first time there but I can tell this isn't just a restaurant, it's a "2nd place" and community.

I took my family to Ralph's for Mother's Day, and the restaurant did not disappoint. Courteous servers and staff, top notch Italian cuisine, and awesome old world ambiance. Ralph's is a true Philly treasure!

I've been coming to Ralph's for more than 60 years, I first came 50 years ago with my parents. To be blunt, it's not as good as it used to be. When I arrived I asked to be seated downstairs where there were at least a half dozen tables to accommodate our group. I was told no without a reasonable explanation. When you make a reservation you can't ask to be seated downstairs so I didn't understand how others could have reserved these tables. After schlepping upstairs, the room was absolutely freezing. Upon request they raised the temp but eventually the air conditioning went back it, it was uncomfortable. The service was most okay, not great and the food was about the same, okay but not great. My veal marsala which should have been tender was almost rubbery and it lacked flavor. I'd describe it as bland. The mussels, which used to be my favorite dish at Ralph's were extremely spicy and lacked the usual garlic flavor I enjoyed. All in all, an establishment which used to be great was mediocre. I've been there many times (maybe 30-40) and not sure I will rush back. I've recommended Ralph's to many previously but won't do so again.

After a rare Phillies loss at home nothing can pick you up more than a great meal at Ralph’s! If you think avoiding a phillies loss is hard try picking out a meal at Ralph’s that’s not great! The only thing is if your seated upstairs watch your head going through the arch on the steps, some objects aren’t as high as they look.

This is my second time eating there and it was as fabulous this time as it was the first we were running late because of traffic and they worked with us and got us a seat. I can’t wait to go again.

Wonderful classic Italian meal. We had lasagna and eggplant parm. Delicious! Dessert was tartuffo and the best tiramisu I’ve ever had! Attentive service and old world atmosphere. Loved every minute.

Ralph is the best old-school Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. Gentleman at the door is very kind the waiters and his staff are second to none when you’re in Philadelphia you must go to Ralphs.

Ralph’s is a great place to eat. I had the veal saltimbocca which was very good. The veal was tender and I would recommend it. My wife had the Linguine Pescatore it was great.

We were in town for a volleyball tournament and looking for a great Philadelphia Experience. Ralph’s was perfect. My only concern was that this place might be dependent on its history rather than great Italian food. I was impressed by both the experience and the incredible food. Don’t miss this gem.

I can't believe I've lived in Philly for 3 years and hadn't yet made it to Ralph's--it's a must! Delicious food, cozy neighborhood atmosphere, and perfect spot to bring visiting friends or family. I'll be back soon!

Bar none, the best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. Go up to the 2nd floor. Though the staff are t-shirts, the service is impeccable. Our waiter Jimmy and backed up by John as well as the busboy s were on it. Completely accommodating and attentive to our table's needs. Then there's the food, get the meatballs for an appetizer they are superior to any Sunday dinner homemade meatball in red gravy there is. Entrées are excellent and reasonably price. The tiramisu is insane.

With the price of dining out rising faster than a cake in the oven, it’s another good reason to go to Ralph’s. The value is still there! The price is up a little, but the amount you get and the deliciousness of it makes it still the best value in town!

Ralph's was a major disappointment. Service was good, but the quality of the meal was not what we had hoped for. The server told us that the wine was from Carlo Rossi, and in spite of the Open Table recommendation of Ralph's as the oldest Italian restaurant in Philadelphia, it was unimpressive.
