Contemporary French
BYOB French restaurant with a unique blend of Southern-inspired cuisine and bistro classics: think Confit Fried Chicken and Waffle, and Steak au Poivre. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with antique mirrors lining the walls, candlelight, and warm and friendly service. We have seasonal outdoor seating along a lovely alleyway with potted blooms and bird serenades.

Located on historic Antique Row, this charming spot is a great place to meet for a special occasion, date-night, business meal, or a casual dinner with friends. This is a small family-owned business and everything is made to order. Grab your favorite bottle of wine and head to this hidden gem to experience a contemporary take on French cuisine.

Mabu is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food is reliably delicious and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. It has become our home away from home!

Last night, I returned to Mabu Kitchen for the 34th time, because it’s just so delicious and welcoming and romantic. Ultra-high quality French inspired comfort food is served here. They have not lost their zeal and creativity. It’s a perfect spot for a date. No date? Come solo. You will be soothed and pampered and very well fed!

We’ve eaten here multiple times and the speed with which your food comes out has always been lacking. However, last night it took 2 hours to get our meals. My medium rare steak was very rare when it finally came out. Although our waiter was apologetic to all the diners, there was nothing done to make up for it. A discount on our meal or complimentary dessert would have gone a long way to help compensate for such slow service. Two of the items on the modest menu were also not available. Sadly, we won’t be going back anytime soon.

Mabu kitchen occupies a delightful corner of Pine and Quince Strret just east of 12th street on Pine. Quince is a historic street -very narrow (perhaps 8 feet wide)with occasional traffic, Mabu’s outdoor seating is on Quince Quince . outdoor seating at Mabu. The Mabu appetizers are.imaginative and very flavorful. For example, the scallops at gratin are bay scallops in a light cream leek and tarragon sauce with a broiled gruyere crust that perfectly complements the bay scalllops and broth. The wild mushroom burrata toast was surprising. Combination of flavors with. Just right texture. It has a balsamic drizzle that gave a punch to the dish. Delightful.. The grilled octopus had a slight smokey flavor cooked to perfection- very tender. The chicory kale salad was a combination of kale, frisee, radicchio with a very picante poppyseed dressing. Mains include several chicken entrees such as a fried chicken on a scallion waffle. This dish is typical of some of th southern influenced items on the Mabu menu. The pork chop Milanese was a thick cut breaded chop.juicy and full of flavor. Desserts are full of pleasant surprises including the a lemon cheese cake and A delightful lemon tart not too sweett but with great flavor on top of a saltine cracker crust.

This was a great brunch. I'd highly recommend a reservation; this is a small place with a handful of tables and a small staff, but that makes it charming. You feel like you're eating in a friend's dining room. We had chicken and waffles, along with the warm brie on a baguette. Truly delicious all around. I will be back the next time I visit Philadelphia!

The food was good but the service very slow. The waiter was very attentive so I think the kitchen must have been backed up.

Our first time going for brunch. Great coffee - one French press and one cappuccino. Fresh squeezed OJ. The English Breakfast shakshuka was delish, not too spicy but flavorful. My nephew loved his Belgian waffles and my brother is still talking what a lovely place it was. Low key, not noisy even though small. Will definitely be back.

Inexpensively priced gourmet. Interesting array of foods from cheeseburger to beef Bourguignon. Delicious brussel sprouts. BYOB. Attentive service. A little upset to be charged for a refill of iced tea, but the prices overall were very reasonable so did not complain.
