Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house. This commitment not only ensures quality but also enables us to offer a wide selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Food and service was excellent!! Very authentic! The only con was the music level. Our table was right below a speaker and it was extremely loud.

Once we got our food, it was delicious. The salt and pepper squid was cooked to perfection and the whole fish was excellent. However....we waited for more than an hour for our food. The manager came over and apologized before we were served. They were short-handed but an hour is too long.

EMei is known for serving food quickly; customers typically receive their orders within 10-15 minutes, even on busy weekends. Unfortunately, we had several staff members call out due to the Memorial Day weekend. As a result, we stopped seating walk-in customers at 5 pm and paused all delivery orders to prioritize our customers with reservations. Thank you again for your understanding and recommendation. We are actively addressing staffing issues to ensure a smoother dining experience. We look forward to providing you with better service on your next visit.

This is generally a great restaurant with great food. Last night they didn't perform on a service level. They appeared to prioritize takeout orders over serving those in the dining room who had reservations and we waited way too long to be served our meal. When we did get our meal the appetizer came at the same time as the entrees and one entree was served 10 mins after the first one. I'll give it another go based on previous experience but this was disappointing.

We were highly impressed by the quality of the cooking at EMei, a bustling Chinatown establishment. The busy, somewhat cramped dining room is on the noisy side and not the place for those looking for a serene surroundings. While we had no complaints with our server, the pacing of the meal was erratic. Soups arrived about two minutes after we ordered them, but my spouses’s main course did not hit the table until over ten minutes after mine.

Authentic Sichuan food is outstanding. Service is quick and friendly. Nice broad menu with many options to come back and try. It was very busy for a Friday night so the noise level was very high.

Outstanding Chinese restaurant on Arch Street in Chinatown. Portions are very large and easily shared. Shrimp with walnuts is outstanding and other excellent dishes include the dumplings hot and sour soup, and egg rolls. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in Philly.

Was extremely crowded for I believe a college graduation. Service was a bit slow but was understandable with how packed it was. Food itself was great and will definitely be going back.
