About West Philly Orchestra Website | Facebook | Instagram | BandCamp | Spotify West Philadelphia Orchestra is a village brass band that comes together to celebrate, rage, party and protest. The group was founded in 2006 by drummer/songwriter/producer G. Mervine, who gathered together musicians who hung out at Fiume, a legendary watering hole in West Philly. They were initally inspired by Romani "orkestars" and "fanfares" like Taraf de Haidouks, Fanfare Ciocarlia and Kočani Orkestar, as well as Balkan music scene up the highway in NYC (Gogol Bordello, Slavic Soul Party!, Zlatne Uste, etc.).

Food was great and band was amazing but I don't know how the restaurant or the band makes enough money with your setup. It was a really small crowd. The instructions about attending were confusing. Instructions said it was general admission but you need a reservation to get a reserved table. So we did that. We would have happily gone earlier for drinks beforehand but and then instructions said "doors open at 6:30". I'm afraid that people who were interested in seeing the band may not have come because of all of these confusing instructions. Also, a sunday evening, especially mother's day, probably wasn't a great date. I feel bad for Brit Pack. I've been to other shows with them that drew 300+ people in small theaters. Need better marketing. Less than 40 people were there.

Very expensive and limited options but it was good. Great venue for music although it’s tiny and incredibly LOUD. I’ll definitely go back but eat beforehand and bring earplugs.

Chicken nachos and mahi tacos were out of this world delicious and the presentation beautiful. We bought tickets for a show and reserved a table to eat before hand. Our server was on top of everything and we stayed until they closed. Bathroom was supplied beautifully for anything a lady could need in an emergency while out. Impeccably clean, as well. It is a venue we will definitely be coming back to. We even had our 11 year old with us and the atmosphere was polite and excited, not rambunctious and uncomfortable for a child to be in attendance. Really excellent experience.

We tried the flatbreads which were good and a dessert which was very good. The beer selection is pretty poor, the wine selection is dismal and overpriced for a short pour. It is a good venue for entertainment and bar food.

The nachos, handheld, asparagus flatbread were outstanding. The music by the West Philadelphia Orchestra was ESPECIALLY outstanding; I hope you will have them play more often!

Cool bar but if you're going here to see live music, not worth it. The stage is too low and the venue is long and narrow. You can't enjoy the bar or a meal AND a show. They would benefit by having some live feed cameras and screens around to see the stage better from the tables.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. Made reservations and bought tickets for a show months ago. Had to use two different sites to do that. As a result, they seat you on a first come first served basis without considering your view of the stage. We asked to be moved to a better table, but were told they just couldn't do that. Meanwhile we saw empty tables remain empty. We left. I will not go back.

We reserved a table for two to see popa chubby, I had made the reservations in advance , the waiter Luke, was over the top efficient! This guy ,as well as the establishment ,rocked! Great friendly service, awesome munchies and excellent beer! Awesome energy and vibe ! We will be a regular ! Rob W

First time there, Really enjoyed it. Saw the band Rift. Had a North Burger and some wings. both very good. Music was great and the service were so friendly. Cant wait to go next time.

Food was excellent. We had chicken nachos to start and they were outstanding. The spicy chicken sandwich was really good. It had great flavor and the cherry peppers offered a good spice level. The highlight dish for me was the sweet potatoes. The maple syrup and bacon bits over perfectly cooked sweet potato cubes was amazing. The Allman Brothers tribute band rocked.

I frequent 118 North often to see Local Live Music. The staff is always accommodating. And soundguy Joe always has the room sounding fantastic. Great Value for your $$ as most bands have just a $10 cover charge. - Taper Rich

Nice place to see live music! Some evenings you may need to purchase event tickets in advance in addition to making a dinner reservation on OpenTable. The current menu is very good pub food. The burger looked to be house-made rather than a frozen patty. I think years ago the menu used to be bigger with some regular main-course plates. One great reason to come here is to see your favorite bands, and in that respect, better food than most any other venue. Super friendly staff every time I've been!

Love coming here to see bands play. I try to reserve a table with a view of the stage, which is just about anywhere in the venue. Service is great, love the staff. Good beer selection and the foods good too.

The food has always been outstanding pub, food. I am fairly obsessed with their burger. I tried to order something else every time but I get tied into it because it is so unbelievably delicious. The service is phenomenal and the music is really awesome. I love 118 N. and I’m so happy to have this amazing venue in Wayne

The servers were attentive and Happy Hour snacks were perfect. The 29ers we’re playing (highly recommend you see them) and entertained a good-looking, friendly crew of pub-goers for 2 hours. All in all, we were in for 3 apps and a few beers each. Perfect ending to the work week. Will definitely be back!

We had a great waiter - service was excellent. The room was very loud (even before band came on). Music before band was too loud for dinner talk. Food was good. Drinks are very expensive.

The table was extremely wobbly. The staff did their best to resolve it. It was also very noisy, more noisy than I remember since the last time I was there.

Wasn’t told in advance that we needed to pay for the band with a dinner reservation, even though we were not intending to stay for the show (I hope I didn’t miss this in writing somewhere). But the hostess compromised and told me to pay for only 1 ticket, which was acceptable. The appetizer was great. My main course was a mushy salad. The server saw that I barely ate any of it and didn’t even ask me if everything was ok. Drinks were great and the show was great (we didn’t stay long). I have been there many times but not to eat and just for shows. For that purpose it has always been a great venue.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Upon making a reservation, there is a clause in opentable that mentions that we are a performance venue that requires a cover charge. Here is the disclaimer that was in the email when you made a reservation. "Please note that by 8pm 118 North becomes a ticketed performance venue. If you are making a reservation at 6:30pm or later you will need to purchase tickets from our website if we have a performance scheduled on our calendar" Sorry to hear about the salad. We strive to have fantastic food and it sounds like we did not achieve our standards here. The feedback you give helps us to improve. It sounds like you did end up staying for part of the show and enjoyed. We are glad to hear that! We hope to see you again soon.

I loved the burger-cooked just right and juicy. Fries were delicious. The cuban was okay but a bit dry so I would go with the burger again. Looking forward to stopping out to try a flat bread at happy hour

We were there on February 1, 2024 for Eddie 9V. The sound engineer was exceptional - and that's really important for a room that size. Getting in top talent, nationally touring talent, is not cheap but it's worth it. The band won the crowd by their second song and everyone really got into the music and was responsive. We will go see a show there again. The bar prices are expensive so be prepared for that. The food was very good and wait staff were overly attentive. Good small room for bands that are breaking the Philadelphia market.

Came for a Bachelor Boys wedding band showcase and grabbed dinner and drinks, which were delicious. The sweet potato appetizer and short rib nachos were stand outs. Great spot for live music as well!
