Marathon has served the neighborhoods of Philadelphia for over 25 years as a family-run restaurant group. We serve well-made American classics, and strive to source the freshest food locally available to us, including from our own Marathon Farm in Brewerytown, Philadelphia. Our favorite farm to table items include our grass-fed Cheesesteak, free-range Turkey Plate, and fluffy Omelettes made with cage-free eggs.

We love food, but more importantly we create the food that people love to eat. We set out each day to provide our guests with a complete feel-good dining experience in a casual setting. We offer warm and personal hospitality rooted in a real concern for our guests' experience and we believe that everyone should be able to afford delicious food. We bring people together through food, personal connections and artistic spaces.

Huge variety of well-prepared menu items at excellent prices. Something for everyone. Very helpful manager assisted us in accommodating a friend in a wheelchair.

Very reliable place just off Rittenhouse. Food and service were very good, even during a busy brunch time. We will be back.

Great food and staff. It was a nice evening so we ate outside just a short walk from Ritterhouse Park.

The food was okay, but honestly basically cafeteria level. I saw my server three times: taking my drink and food order, bring my forgotten drink 20 minutes later, and just dropping the check off. This was despite a mostly empty restaurant. There was also a lot of random yelling between the servers and kitchen staff. Poor ambiance, poor service, and forgettable food.

Host and waiter were extremely accommodating and friendly as we were 15 minutes early for our reservation for lunch. Food was excellent and not terribly expensive. Never felt rushed. Will definitely be back.

I love marathon for its stable and predictably good food. It is a great place to meet a friend for lunch. It is a bit noisy at times and can be hard to hear a conversation. I would also recommend making a reservation at anytime as walk ins have to wait.

The wrap around the tuna was toasted and breaking apart. There was nothing Caesar about the Caesar salad, just wet lettuce.

We were seated outside but got cold after placing our order. Even though it was a busy dinner hour they accommodated us and moved us inside. The manager at this location is really awesome. So accommodating every time we are there. Are the salad s and other dishes are delicious too. Marathon at 19th and Spruce is the perfect neighborhood spot.

Vinnie is the best server and very attentive! He brought over extra napkins without us needing to ask and made sure we were never missing anything!

I love trying new experiences with my wife in Philadelphia when we have the extra money. Anniversaries, birthdays, or just because. It’s always great to find a place that balances excellent food with reasonable prices. My Rainbow Trout was fantastic as was her Salmon. The server did a great job, even though it looked like he was covering all tables in the restaurant. This will definitely be on the revisit list. Thanks to the Marathon team for making my evening memorable.

A wonderful neighborhood spot. Always dependable and delicious. Thy have specials that are super, but also are wise enough to know that they should keep the favorites, like matz ball soup!!

this is such a reliable spot to spend dinner. in addition to the usual food on menu there is always the proposal of the day that capture my attention and I got never sorry for my choice. recommend for casual dinner at good quality and price range please NEVER CHANGE that is so nice as-is

The food was really mediocre, at best. A burger I would give a solid C grade. However, what really made us decide not to give this place a second chance someday was the fact that the manager let them crank the music up and started stacking chairs and mopping the floor at 9:30 p.m. on a Friday night. Granted, there were only two tables left but we had arrived at 8:00 and were totally rushed out. Not cool on a Friday night. Hardly hospitable. Plenty of other, better places to go next time.

First time . Moving to the neighborhood so will be back many times, for sure. Husband, sister and brother in law went for lunch. Really good ! Great choices. Outstanding tomato soup. A cranberry turkey melt! Breakfast all day. Good vibe. Nice service. Recommend very much. Make a reservation to make sure u get in at peak times.

I’m a repeat customer, solo and with companion, for its richness as a neighborhood gathering place for very different people across the generations. The staff treats us with warmth and attentiveness. Noise especially in a holiday with large families gets strong at prime time so if you wish to converse with companions go earlier; otherwise join in. It’s a great place to appreciate families and friends enjoying one another. The food is consistently good, cocktails well prepared, and wines thoughtfully chosen and priced.
