It’s too bad with just a little effort this place could be a great little french cafe bistro, but it’s not. food is mediocre, service is slow and inattentive, ambiance is garish and bright and it’s over priced. what a shame.

Our previous experiences here were always good but this time we were seated in the lounge which is under renovation and were told that they had forgotten to shut down open table for that evening as the dining room was closed. They did serve us food but we were the only ones. Meal should have been on the house.

The menu looks French and they say Bonjour when you enter but it really is just a hotel coffee shop. I love a classic French Omelette and seeing one on the menu along with a Croque Madam, we decided to give it a try on a Sunday morning. Neither was any good, unfortunately. The French omelette was a hard cooked (and browned) diner omelette with ham and (Gruyère) cheese with some chives sprinkled on top. The croque madam was two thick pieces of brioche with ham in the middle, gloppy béchamel ladled on top with an (undercooked) fried egg on top. So, a disappointment. On the plus side the service and atmosphere were nice.

I booked breakfast here knowing that it was attached to the hotel, but not knowing that it was a hotel buffet instead of a regular restaurant. I felt this should have been more clear on OpenTable reservations as it wasn't the ambiance I was looking for. I asked if we had to do the buffet and was told it was all that was available. Food was decent, although the eggs were disappointing for a $22 fee. Service was very friendly but seemed rushed and disorganized. Ambiance was loud and not relaxing. A lot of people shuffling around due to the buffet. For a hotel buffet, it was fine, but it shouldn't be advertised as a restaurant that requires reservations.

This is my go-to for business breakfasts in Center City. Good food, quiet enough for a conversation. Service is professional but slow.

I read the reviews prior to going and noticed many were unhappy. We were very pleased with our experience. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. We thought the food was very good as was the champagne. We had fun picking out our tea and the only concern I had was that the water was not hot enough nor was there enough for all of us to eke out a second cup from our tea leaves. I felt the Travelzoo deal was worth it for four of us and we enjoyed the experience!

We did the afternoon tea with our daughters and absolutely enjoyed the experience. Our server Khadijah was very knowledgeable about the Teas and her service exceptional.

$75/person for Easter Brunch - you would think the menu would’ve been much better & the mimosas to at least be bottomless, ESPECIALLY at a place like the Sofitel. One glass of champagne or mimosa was included, and the menu for Easter Brunch wasn’t good at all. It was a brunch with No omelette station, no waffles or pancakes, no rice or pasta, no bread station, no breakfast foods of any kind. The rolls they had out were not warm at all. The potatoes had zero flavoring and were somewhat hard. Honestly, the only decent thing were some of the desserts. However, some of the creme brûlées weren’t even cooked all the way through. I had one where it was pure liquid and not the custard texture of a creme brûlée. The staff were all nice though.

We have never been here before but we reserved a spot for Easter brunch. It was a bit pricey but thought it was fine for a holiday buffet. we ended up not eating here though. You can sense some tension with staff, our waitress was SUPER sweet though. We checked out the buffet and there was no breakfast of any kind. It was a unique combination of food, meats, seafood and charcuterie and just not what we personally were looking for. I’m sure this is a great place for some, it just wasn’t for us. When you think brunch, you do expect some breakfast options or more variety for the price. There wasn’t a lot of people which is fine, just noting. Also the chairs were a bit torn up. These are all fixable and I don’t want to deter anyone from going. Our first impression just wasn’t the best. We expected a bit more for a hotel restaurant.

I have to be honest, I was really disappointed in the high tea. I had a really great experience last year - the food was delicious, the tea was lovely, and the service was great. It was relaxing and calm. This year, the sandwiches were mostly just white bread with very little in them and the water for our tea was served at room temperature, almost cold. We were also reminded multiple times that we had an hour long time limit. Not the same relaxing, enjoyable experience at all.

I had a turkey blt and a glass of pinot grigio. The food was quite good and the staff was friendly and courteous. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty quiet and not too busy.

While the food and ambience were excellent as was the service, it was disappointing to have to wait over 30 minutes to be seated, especially after arriving 30 minutes prior to our reservation time.

The tea sanwiches were very good as were the Pastries. The scones were very small as was the pot of tea. It was good for the travelzoo voucher , but I would not pay full price for it

I've always wanted to go to afternoon tea and Chez Colette did not disappoint. From the selection of teas to the scones, tea sandwiches, and desserts, everything was delicious. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. The ambiance was pleasant. I highly recommend going here.

The tea was lovely and the scones still warm! The sandwiches were tasty and delivered 4 each so we each got one of the four selections. The desserts of course were yummy and they brought a special birthday cake with berries for our friend who is celebrating her 80th birthday. She was very touched. A special outing for a special person.

A good friend and I have been coming to Chez Colette for at least 5 years now for afternoon tea. Unfortunately, the quality and service are not what they used to be. We felt the staff was rushing us to leave, in particular by asking multiple times to take away each of the three-tier plates before they were empty. They also brought the check before we were halfway through our tea; that seems pushy. The staff were pleasant enough, however. The tea collection offered has a good variety, and the glass of champagne to start the tea is lovely. However, the quality of the food is not what it was in the past. The scones were not as good and were rather small, and the tea sandwiches were somewhat stale and skimpy. The petite desserts were delicious and the appropriate quantity. But overall we were disappointed in our experience. If we do choose to return to the Sofitel and Chez Colette, I hope we will find that the standards have improved.

The tea service and food selection was outstanding. Our server Miguel was attentive and explained the offerings very well. The room and French accents are lovely. However, the large screen TVs streaming sports did not do much for the ambience of the room.

The Tea which we for was nice. Entry was awkward because construction required going to the second floor then going back down another elevator. My mobility was limited so it wasn't a challenge I wanted to face. I'd say service was indifferent, we sat waiting to be served while several tables who arrived later were served. That was true for tea, as well as the food. Waiter also wasn't terribly attentive to my mother's trouble hearing.

Even w Travelzoo a waste of $$. Tiny tea sandwiches none of which were good. Stale bread. Scones tasted like biscuits rather than scones. Tea did not stay warm while it was “steeping” in the pot. It was not hot after the 1st cup. One chocolate dessert was very good. Wait staff were pleasant but not attentive. Overall, not a good experience! In addition, which has nothing to do w the afternoon tea, parking cost 46$ for a little over 2 hours.

I expected the tea experience to be fancier and more upscale. Enjoyed it for the discounted TravelZoo price but would have been pretty disappointed if it had been full price. The dining room, service and food were not as nice as I expected.

Great Sunday afternoon at Chez Colette. Food was very good and service was excellent. My wife has a dietary restriction, and manager, Shannon, and chef prepared special tea sandwiches and treats just for her. We couldn't have been happier or more impressed.

We had an amazing time at Chez Collette! All of the staff were lovely, the food was delicious and the ambience was great. They even had a special gluten free option for my friend. Our only drawback was there was construction going on so it was very loud, but I'm sure that will be fixed soon! Overall, it was amazing and we can't wait to come back!

It was weird… If we had of been there for just drinks at the bar, I’m sure it would’ve been fine. No one wanted to serve us and we had two servers and then they didn’t get along because they each one of the table took forever for food to come out, not cooked properly. Maybe we’re just at a weird spot in the restaurant? As a dining guest, we weren’t welcome.

A thoroughly delightful distraction from hustle and bustle, the afternoon tea was exquisite! The tea selections were astounding, and the morsels tantalizing. The attentive affable service by Corinne and Shannon was incomparable. We shall most definitely repeat the experience!

Unfortunately it was Not a good day for the place with service. No waters were offered. I had to ask. No champagne from the voucher as well. I even asked for the kids to have juice. It just Wasn’t her day. The food was mediocre at best and tea selection wasn’t much. Glad to experience this once but wouldn’t come back or recommend others.

Went for dinner on Valentine’s Day and the food was exceptional! We had a lovely server Ellen( I believe was her name) who took good care of us. The only downside was the atmosphere. There was no background music and the decor could use a slight refresh but overall had a great experience!

Once you find it, the dining room is quiet and pleasantly decorated (renovations underway with confusing signage). Enthusiastic staff, but forgetful (no bread until reminded, orders confused). Food okay, but just that. On the other hand, it's a very pleasant place to spend the evening. Wine flight and dessert were quite good

Went for the tea service with a Travelzoo voucher for $75 for 4. Food was mediocre. Scones were tiny and had no flavor. Tea sandwiches were dry and had very little in them, mostly just white bread. The tea and mimosas were very good and hot!We had a 2:45 seating time. We were seated at 2:30 and they had run out of a few of the deserts so substituted banana nut muffins. We felt very rushed. Server came and put all of our food on one plate when we were about half way through and took the other plates and stands. We were told we would be there for about 1 1/2 hrs but there was only one other table left and we felt like they wanted us to leave so left after about an hour.

I had a wonderful birthday tea celebration. The service from the moment we arrived at the host, Alex, was warm and inviting. They must also have a new chef because everything has improved dramatically since my last visit. The scones were soft and delicious, the homemade lemon curd and cream were decadent. The tea sandwiches were also very good.

We used a travelzoo voucher for high tea on Saturday afternoon. We arrived for our reservation and were greeted by the loveliest staff. Our server (I couldn’t remember his name unfortunately) was so helping in curating the ideal tea for our tastes. The tea snacks were delicious and everything was just spectacular!

This was our first time at Chez Colette. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The tea selections were varied and a good assortment of aromas and tastes. The food was a bit disappointing for our taste and we had hoped for some more traditional British offerings. The pastries were a good mix and were quite delicious. So overall, it was a good experience - just not great.

Our party of 4 used a Travel Zoo voucher to enjoy a terrific value for Saturday afternoon tea. Choice of 9 teas, a glass of either plain champagne or a Mimosa -- or nonalcoholic orange juice -- as well as a nice variety of mini-scones, assorted tea sandwiches, and mini-desserts accompanied by clotted cream and lemon curd. We boxed several items for take home. Our waiter, a native French speaker from East Africa, was professional but also very engaging. It was a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours.
