Depuis 1746, le même bâtiment qui accueille la taverne Black Powder Tavern a joué un rôle dans la création de la nation. Il servait d'abord de lieu de repos pour les voyageurs en diligence qui rejoignaient l'Ouest, avant de devenir un endroit de rendez-vous clandestin pour George Washington, le marquis de La Fayette et d'autres héros de la révolution américaine. Le bruit court que durant le terrible hiver de 1777-1778, à Valley Forge, le stratège militaire Friedrich Von Steuben, une figure majeure de l'armée continentale, avait choisi la taverne comme cache secrète pour les munitions de poudre noire des messagers de l'Armée continentale. À cette époque, la taverne continuait de fournir la nourriture, l'abri et la joie de vivre aux soldats fatigués et affamés qui luttaient pour leur indépendance. Aujourd'hui, la tradition historique de la taverne continue d'être honorée avec pour mission de réjouir les clients. Good selection for brunch! Menu was just what we were looking for. Food was good but could potentially be wow, with a few tweaks. One person in our group ordered the grilled Reuben but there was hardly any thousand island dressing on it. She was literally pulling the sandwich apart looking for it. We all kind of (?) saw it in between the cheese and the bread but it was scarce to say the least. The best part of a Reuben is tasting all of the ingredients simultaneously. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese. Again, more was more like buttered toast with a little bit of cheese, and a little bit of meat on it. It wasn't cheesy like a typical grilled cheese. Again, The main ingredients of the sandwich were lacking. No exaggeration, there were two pieces of short rib the size of quarters on one half of the sandwich, and one on the orher. Hardly any caramelized onions. In fact, I forgot they were on the sandwich until I got to the second half of the sandwich and tasted one in a bite. The selections are good, the idea is there, and the bread was delicious but, it seemed like they skimped on ingredients and ratio of meat/cheese and sauces was off. We also ordered the blue cheese filled dates wrapped in bacon and they were delicious! Would definitely try this place again. Maybe it was just an off day?

the tavern food was excellent and staff was good, efficient and friendly. The atmosphere was nice, we could have table conversation without a problem. The tables were nicely spaced. Would definitely go again , and the manager stopped by to check in as well as letting us know they change menus with the seasons.

The service was great. The cocktails excellent. Loved the flat bread but Thai salad kinda blah.

I was disappointed in the service we had though our initial server was very quick to take our drinks and meal order however, another server came with our entrees. She brought three out and said she’d be back with the rest, we had to ask after about 5 mins for the rest of our meals. Apparently the second server had forgotten to bring them. An apology was given. I go to black powder often and this was the first time I was disappointed with service.

Food was good - standard pub fare. We were seated in back section - the room was very loud due to a large party of adults and kids. The kids were super loud. Our waitress and manager were very accommodating in moving us to a table in the front room.

Black Powder is one of my favorite restaurants. Have dined here many, many times and the food is always fantastic. The manager is very accommodating. The drinks are great! The servers are pleasant and always check on you to make sure everything is just the way you want it. The cook even came out to see if we were happy with our salmon dinners, which we definitely were! Love this restaurant.
