Ce restaurant récompensé du prix James Beard bénéficie d'une clientèle aussi diversifié que l'est San Francisco et a ouvert ses portes en 1979. Animé, un bar en cuivre de style parisien vous accueille à votre arrivée sur Rose Alley. Le menu du Zuni change tous les jours avec des plats inspirés de recettes traditionnelles italiennes et françaises. La quasi-totalité des produits, la viande et le poisson proposés sont cultivés et récoltés de manière durable. I dined solo here for a Sunday lunch/brunch. I had some high expectations for this famous SF restaurant but I was rather disappointed. I didn’t have any issues with the atmosphere and the food. The interior was bright and nice and the food and drink was good (if a bit pricey). My issue is with the service. Everything was fine when I checked in at the front and was seated. However because the actual menu was a bit different from the online menu, I asked my waiter for a bit more time to decide. But unexpectedly I was assigned a new waiter without explanation and the new waiter was a bit rude and pushy. I was only planning to get a cocktail and a main (which I did) but he was persistent in suggesting that I get a salad or appetizer and a second drink. Then instead of asking me if I wanted to see a dessert menu, I was tersely handed a desert and drink menu then asked for my order to which I replied that I just wanted my check. The waiter looked annoyed at this. I can sympathize that waiting for a single diner is more work and maybe a bit awkward but this was rather poor service considering the 5% surcharge and automatic 20% gratuity (which I did not feel was deserved). All I expect is to be treated decently and respectfully and instead I got attitude for deciding not to order certain things. Honestly, the food and drink was enjoyable but the overall experience was soured by the poor service. Considering the price and the reputation of this restaurant, I was dissatisfied to receive worse service than I have at less expensive restaurants.

Never disappoints! Been a customer for 20+ years. It’s still a destination every trip to SF and every special event. Special shout out to the wonderful young man at the host stand. He was delightful and knew exactly what I meant when I arrived and asked him to order the Roast Chicken right away while my husband parked.

Mostly a good experience however, the ricotta gnocchi on the e menu was not great. Very bland. Fries and Caesar salad were good as always.

My husband and I started coming here in the early 1990s and Zuni Cafe has the best roast chicken on the planet!! Everything on our table was first rate. The meal and the evening was so enjoyable. Get the super-skinny shoestring fries to nibble before and with your chicken and you won’t be disappointed one bit. We washed ours down with an amazing Cobb Pinot noir. A truly memorable night! I normally love Zuni and made the mistake of not getting the chicken. I did get the halibut which the sauce was almost like a soup and the fish lacked flavor. The gnocchi was just ok. I would have expected better food flavor especially given the high prices.

Very popular for good reason! Excellent food and ambiance but too loud for this person; in fact, everyone in our party thought it was too loud. We just couldn't hear each other.

We were so disappointed in our experience. We’ve greatly enjoyed our meals at Zuni Cafe in the past before but nothing seemed to go right Wednesday night. We had a 5 PM reservation and arrived a few minutes early, expecting to wait, but were surprised when the greeter let in a couple ahead of us and then, without a word, the door locked in our faces. Crowd control, I guess, but not at all welcoming. The fellow who walked us to our table verged on surley, without a smile. Our waiter was very competent but not the least bit warm or engaging. He stepped away for a bit, and a wonderful fellow (friendly, welcoming, very nice smile, actually seemed pleased that we were dining there) took our order but that was the last we saw of him. We were seated in one of the small rooms upstairs, where we had sat another time and had enjoyed the coziness, but there seemed to have been some additional tables added and the noise level became intolerable, especially when a group of 6 men sat next to us and proceeded to yell across the table at each other. We actually skipped desert to escape from the noise.

Ordered oysters-never got them. Drunk diner at adjacent table knocked over dishes and glass next to us. Caesar salad okay, but over-rated. Our waitress was very good but apparently dropped the ball on the oysters. This was a special occasion and the overall experience was hugely disappointing. Side note: you donate $1 for every $75 order of your signature dish?? Hardly anything to crow about.

Seated quickly and cocktails very good. Wanted scallops to start but run out - one of the risks of a late (8.45) booking I suspect. But onion&sorrel soup and piccolo fritter very tasty. Had the shared roast chicken which arrived in 45mins ( good as warned it could be 60 in the menu) Lovely taste and well cooked. Bittergreen salad refreshing but the warm bread base did nothing for us - just a stodgy mess?! Would be better with some plain veg in our opinion.

We have been dining at Zuni every time we’ve been in SF since 1987. This time they were out of multiple items on the menu and the service was a bit confused. We will still go again the next time we’re in town out of tradition and because my wife loves the roasted chicken, but I think it needs a little bit more pep in its step.

So amazing, make sure you have a parking garage (Grove/Gough) or you're having to be driving for days to find a parking space.

As usual, food was well prepared and service was timely. we had a table in the bar that stood by itself as if an afterthought. The bar was empty. We had a late reservation as it was the only one available but our table was not ready when we arrived. we had three different servers and none of them seemed to want to be there and we were made to feel as if all the servers and host just wanted us to leave so they could go home. They were out of the oysters we ordered. we had two courses and left even though we typically get dessert. Not sure I will go back there

Steak and frites were wonderful. We also liked their drinks Loving Cup and San Francisco. Service was very good, and we had good seats to watch how the kitchen operates. Very French chic and we’re planning another visit soon. Thanks Zuni!

We had the brick oven roasted chicken, very good, moist tender, but nothing special to the seasoning. Takes an hour to prepare, so plan on a cocktail or two with appetizers. Shoestring potatoes and white asparagus did it for us. Would definitely come back.

Quintessential San Francisco restaurant. And although we’ve been there many times, it is always one of the most wonderful experiences. Gracious staff, fabulous oysters, and always order the silver margarita to start.

Our local friends recommended Zuni as their favorite spot for out of town guests. They suggested we order the shoe string potatoes and order the famous chicken as soon as we sat down. The food, ambiance and service lived up to the hype. We had a wonderful meal and evening

My friend and I had an outstanding experience at Zuni. I requested a table upstairs and we were given the loveliest table by the window. The service was excellent and the food was divine!

Our daughter who is on the east coast for college was out visiting for a long weekend. We took her out for a nice lunch to catch up and then the ballet with parents and grandmother. Zuni never disappoints. Perfect special day outing.

Food is extremely over rated & staff is constantly grabbing plates and cups from your table while you take final bites. I heard it was a SF classic but I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend coming back.

We hadn’t been to Zuni since living in San Francisco several years ago and we were happy to discover that it’s still on top of its game. Excellent food and service, beautiful dining room filled with early evening light through the oversized windows. Fish and beef dishes were excellent — we had the amazing shoe string fries, too. Wine list is a bit pricey but the French Chardonnay was a good choice. Will definitely return.

1st time eating here. Service was outstanding from all staff. Felt very well taken care of. Food was outstanding especially the Cara Cara/Navel/Barrata Appetizer. Was seated at a lovely table for 2 upstairs at a window. Much quieter there yhan on the 1st floor. Can't wait to go again!

Zuni used to be such a great restaurant, but now it's a shadow of it's former self. The lunch menu is very limited and overpriced (as expected and would be ok if it was good), we had salads that were blah and an order of fries that were under cooked and soggy. Service was spotty. We left hungry and felt we had gotten very little for our money.

This was my first time at Zuni and it lived up to its reputation! We loved the service, food, and ambiance. We started with oysters, followed by the fava beans (delicious), ricotta gnocchi (perfect), and chicken. (I never order chicken at restaurants because I can make it well at home, but heard it was the dish to try so went with that and am so glad we did! PLENTY of food for 2 and so flavorful and juicy. All around excellent!) I also had the best dirty martini I’ve ever had, and the waiter helped us select a great wine pairing for with the chicken. We finished with the pavlova (divine!) and gateau victoire (again, wanted to try the classic and am glad I did!) 10/10 and would def come again.

Always love Zuni Cafe. To start with their delicious Balsalmic Bloody Mary can't help but put you in a good mood. We had the chicken (always delicious), and the steak. Service was very good too.

The Margarita and Zuni red wine were great and the burger on toasty and crunchy bun with lettuce, the garlicky aioli, were spot on delicious! The service and ambience were stellar and welcoming as always. Of course, I loved and enjoyed the musical and artist talents of Rob Reich! My heartfelt gratitude to Zuni for lifting the happiness in our spirits.

We were seated immediately. The service was attentive without hovering. My companion ordered the burger (delicious!) and I had the pasta of the day. I like the short menu and the frites are always delicious. I appreciated that the bill clearly marked that the 20% gratuity had already been included.
