The term “edible art” is an appropriate way of describing Zen’s menu. Inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine, the inventive menu is heavily influenced by the abundance of wonderful West Coast seafood and produce. The premium is on quality, with the best offerings from Japan being served daily. Sushi and Sashimi creations are staples, but Zen has something special for any and all diners including a selection of highly innovative tempura, teppanyaki, and delicious robata (Japanese barbecue) highlighted by chicken yakitori, garlic short ribs, and simply grilled fresh fish. Adventurous diners can choose “omakase” and have our master chef put together the day’s finest selections. Zen’s knowledgeable staff will assist you in choosing the perfect beverage to accompany your meal from an unparalleled inventory of premium sake and specialized beer and wine lists. The food and service at Zen is nothing short of outstanding! We love coming to Zen. Chris is the best server. He remembers what we like to drink and makes excellent suggestions.

We used to like going to Zen but this dinner was way overpriced and not the best experience with the food. I'm glad there are more Japanese restaurants in West Vancouver now to choose from as Zen didn't quite meet our expectations this time. Two of the sushi dishes were just "meh" so that's about $60 of "meh" food. Grilled squid was ok, BC roll was good.

The food was delicious. The fish was fresh and their tempura was perfectly crisp. We had their assorted aburi and the fish was seared nicely and it felt like it melted in my mouth. Not chewy. The tempura was nicely battered not too thick. Our server was cheerful, kind and checked up on us to see how we were doing with our meal.

Food and service was fantastic! The menu is amazing. The interior could use a bit of an update but it is overall a great place. Best fusion Japanese on the north shore. A bit pricey but well worth the splurge.

EVERYTHING. But the favourites are the butteryaki, speckled scallop roll, agedashi tofu, chili prawns, and the absolute scene stealer, the tuna tataki roll. You can't go wrong, though, no matter what you order.

Always love the food at Zen but wow, expensive! Their signature roll "Popcorn Shrimp Roll" is $20 and must cost them $1 to make. It is such a good roll but it is obvious they over charge because they know people will pay. Quality of food has always been excellent which is why we come back but the staff hasn't always been the friendliest.

the best food, such a diverse menu, there is sushi, there is seafood, there is a great great great selection of sashimi, huge selection of rolls, you can get your favourite, simple and minimalist proper sushi roll or you can try something ultra creative and unique - perfect menu.

Amazing Food Selection. Chose most items from Fresh Board. My companion and I were both super impressed by the Freshness, Presentation, and Taste. Bravo and Kudos to All in the Kitchen, though a Super Special Mention for Rebecca our Waitress who was Beyond Spectacular with Her Amazing Service. And Thank You for The Asahi Glasses.

The quality, range of selection and freshness of fish is unsurpassed locally. Classic sushi, nigiri, with beautiful trim and knife work. Rolls can be variable. Over the years the menu has morphed from more traditional Japanese to flavours and menu items more akin to North American tastes; there are hits and misses in there—I think the menu would benefit if they eliminated all but the absolute best of these non-traditional items. They have never been bashful with their pricing.

I hadn’t been to Zen for several years, so I was happy that the menu is still so creative and delicious. It was a great dining experience!
