Stopped in before game. Glass of wine with octopus! Excellent. Lobster roll , excellent! The White Sea bass was a bit dry but taste was good!

Everything was exceptional! Fabulous service! Best clam chowder and lobster bisque we ever had! Lobster roll to rival ones on the east coast! Whole fish and halibut dishes were amazing! Can’t wait to return!

Excellent food and service. Even though there is no on site parking but it’s worth a little walk to experience the amazing food and great service. We have been to other Water Grills and they are all very good but the San Diego location is the best in our opinion in quality and taste of the food and excellent people working there, every one of them!

Food and service were great. Hostess gave us a nice booth next to the open window. Culinary experience and ambience made Mother’s day special. This is our 3rd or 4th time at Water Grill.

Fine dining prices and portions, with noisy and raucous ambience. Soft shell crab was overcooked, with a savory brown sauce, which was a little off-putting for shellfish. Halibut was good, but the sides were miniscule. Service was very good, and the cocktails were decent. Wine was overpriced.

Joey was terrific. It didn’t exactly feel like a birthday celebration but overall a good experience.

We had the mixed fresh oyster platter, 2 of each kind they had , one dozen. Super fresh, cold and very interesting mix of flavors. We split a Wedge salad, it’s huge & very good. We also shared the Spanish octopus, very tender and delicious! Our waiter Will was super attentive! We would go back again!

While the food was the very goo, the service was not up to par and we had made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary and I know it was on the card for the server but not one mention of our anniversary or anything to acknowledge it. Very disappoibting.

Everything we had was delicious. The sea bass with puréed cauliflower and candied lemon was particularly incredible. We also enjoyed the carrots with whipped feta and tuna poke. My kids had fish and chips which were also very good. We enjoyed the restaurant ambiance as well except for a while a homeless man stood outside the open window asking for money which made us uncomfortable particularly with our 2 young children. The hostess did eventually notice and asked him to leave.

Fantastic meal and even better service by the wait staff. Best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Halibut and oysters were equally as good. Highly recommend when in Southern California.

From start to finish it was a lovely experience. The warm bread was heavenly. My husband had the ciopino I had the scampi, we shared the bread pudding. All items were fantastic.

Our server Michael made the night very enjoyable. He was prompt, very engaging, and offered great recommendations. Drinks menu was different than the last time we visited but we were able to find a whiskey cocktail we both enjoyed. Food was great until our last plate of evening showed up, the octopus. The taste was good but way over cooked…. it was extremely chewy and almost inedible. We each had a couple bites and then just picked around it to get to the great potatoes and tomatoes the octopus was served with.

First timers……service was superb…..stimulating atmosphere but the main attractions are the amazing fish entrees….maybe the best fish ever…..started with the mussels which were next level great….chilean sea bass and the sablefish were perfectly cooked….possibly the best fish we ever had……we will be regular customers…HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Third visit with excellent food and service! We had three entrees: ahi tuna,cioppino, and shrimp scamp. All were fantastic! The rolls they offer are hard to refuse.

It seems like every restaurant is LOUD near Petco Park, and this was no exception. Crowded of course before the concert, so we were seated in the bar. No problem, except there was a huge window that they insisted on keeping open even though it was below 60 degrees outside...so we froze for the whole meal. Finally we asked another server and they closed it part way. The food was decent and the service was excellent but I guess I'm just not a fan of loud raucous dining experiences. They were having a private event upstairs and that part looked far quieter and more elegant. I would definitely request the upstairs (if that is open to dining) if you want a bit of a quieter experience.

The food was good, but had to rush it down since we were going to a concert at Petco field. We had a 5:15 reservation and arrived about 10mins early. We were not seated until 5:55. Now we had to rush through our meal. If they can’t handle the reservations then they shouldn’t take as many. It’s a fairly expensive restaurant and we would have liked to enjoy the experience. Instead it was just a rush. This is my second time at this location and the 2nd time we had to wait too long for our table.

We were headed to the Sting/Billy Joel concert at Petco Park and had a reservation at 5:30 at Water Grill. The restaurant was packed and we had to wait for our table for about 30 minutes. We were worried we wouldn’t make the concert but a manager offered us cocktails and an appetizer and we ordered since we thought if we didn’t have time to dine, we would at least have some sustenance. When we were seated we asked if we should settle up with the bar, and the manager said, “My treat!” We told our server that we were headed to the concert and we were served quickly and she gave us our check promptly. We will definitely be back, not in a concert night, though! All in all, A great experience and a demonstration of how a little customer outreach makes a good impression!

We reserved a table to dine at Water Grill before the Billy Joel/Sting concert. They were running about 20 minutes behind, but once we were seated everything flowed smoothly. Delicious sourdough bread arrived quickly to start us off. Our waiter was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. We had a shrimp cocktail, split a Caesar salad (one was large enough to share), I had the sea bass (delicious) and my companion had the halibut, also very good. We made it in plenty of time to Petco Park, just a few short blocks away. We will definitely return on our next visit to San Diego!

My date and I had a great time people watching from a window seat. The grilled octopus, sushi, and sea bass all get highs marks. My date also told me that her martini was “proper”. Our waiter Gustavo (Goose) provided great service. We can’t wait to find another excuse to go back!
