V. Mertz offers our guests a progressive, contemporary American menu with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients. We offer an award-winning wine list of over 400 selections. The restaurant is located in Omaha’s historic and picturesque Old Market Passageway, within walking distance from the CHI Convention Center, The Holland Performing Arts Center, the Orpheum, and all major downtown hotels.

V. Mertz is locally-owned, and we pride ourselves in offering artisan products and cheeses, organically-grown local produce and Wagyu beef, and sustainably-farmed and line-caught seafood. We believe that dining should be an event, and to this end Chef Jonathan Miller has created a harmony of food and wine, culminating in our extravagant Tasting Menu.

We went there for my husband’s birthday. We ordered a tomahawk steak and it took more than an hour to receive it. I asked for it to be medium well and it looked like rare cooked. We didn’t have a good experience.

The location is iconic and my friened and I enjoyed the cozy ambience and creative menu. The bartender was particularly engaging!

This was an incredible experience!! Too often these days I feel like restaurants with great food do not have servers that execute at the same level, this was not the case tonight. Our server, Johanna, was incredible! I might even go as far to say that she might be the best Omaha. This is not hyperbole either, she was that good. She coursed every dish perfectly, working in concert with the kitchen to ensure that we were never waiting too long for the next course. We ordered 8 plates between the two of us, so we had a few. She made great wine and cocktail recommendations that complimented our courses perfectly. I realize I have yet to really talk about the food, it was amazing! But service like we had, that made the night and was really the star of the show. So, THANK YOU Johanna for elevating the experience and creating a meal that we will not soon forget!

Our second time dining at V. Mertz - it’s quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in Omaha! Lovely ambiance, sort of wine-cellar like. Derrick our server was just outstanding: fun, so knowledgeable, very attentive. The food is sublime. Both visits we’ve shared a number of small plates, then get a large plate for our entree, and it just a feast!

Had the tasting menu for our Anniversary. Food, service and setting was outstanding. Our only complaint was there was too long of a wait in between courses.

If there is one restaurant in Omaha you go to, it is this one. Joanna was EXCELLENT! Food, service, and atmosphere were top notch. Definitely will be back.

We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was great but our server Derek was phenomenal. He made the whole experience that much better.

What a culinary journey! Traveling for work and received a recommendation. From the small plates, to the scallops, to the dessert, this was an experience! The cab was a great pairing with everything. Our waitress was so helpful in the experience, and it provided a much needed escape to a difficult day.

Innovative menu. Several steak choices for those who are not adventurous. Lots of interesting combinations for foodies. Great value for the money. Server was very knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation also sourcing. A most enjoyable experience which I would be delighted to repeat next time I’m in Omaha. Well done from small plates through dessert. A fabulous food experience.

V. Mertz is a lovely little spot. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. However, I ordered the Halibut, which was so salty I couldn’t eat it—also, there was no valet parking and a bustling area. We drove around 10 minutes and finally found a spot on a lot, $16 to park. I should have taken Uber.

It was our first time visiting V.Mertz, but it won’t be our last. Tucked away in the downtown passageway, perfect for a relaxing dinner date. The food was amazing and the service outstanding!

Always a great dining experience! Our foie Gras and charcuterie to start were outstanding. The octopus, white asparagus, duck, and ravioli entrees were next up and superb! My octopus was perfectly prepared! Our dessert and dessert wines provided the perfect ending to a lovely meal. Service was terrific!

What a fabulous evening we had at V. Mertz! Absolutely charming Old Town location, amazing food, and the staff treated us like honored guests! Derrick, our server, was so much fun and provided superb service. We had a group of seven, had a bunch of shared plates, and then everyone got an entree so I was able to taste many dishes. My entree was the Turkish dumplings, which I thought might be risky, but it was fantastic. The mushroom ravioli, the green pea salad, the caviar, the Wagyu steaks - I could go on and on they were all so good. And the check was reasonable. If you haven’t been, GO!

We both ordered the tasting menu and accompanying wines. Each course and the wines were excellent. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the selected wines and the meal was perfectly matched. Both of us are celiac and need to eat gluten free and the kitchen was more than able to accommodate us. Thank you to the kitchen! We are new to the Omaha area and we will definitely be coming back frequently.

My wife and I partook in the Chef's tasting menu accompanied with the wine pairing and it was fabulous. The dishes were expertly crafted and the wine pairings were masterful. Our waitress was knowledgable, energetic and prompt. It was the perfect spot for a romantic meal.

VERY good food. Best stake I’ve had since the last time I ate at V Mertz. I love the lighting, ambiance, and service at V Mertz and will continue to go there. They also made it extra special by printing custom menus for our birthdays. I highly recommend V Mertz to anyone who wants to have a fantastic dining experience.

Excellent presentation and preparation of food. Our sommelier was fanstatic. I had a dinner/ wine tasting menu and was impressed with pairings! My date enjoyed his entree. Dessert waswonderful and enjoyed luscious petit fours as a grand finally. Would highly recommend.
