I’ve been a regular at Uchi (Houston) for some time. When I say regular, I mean, I was going to two or three times a week. Now that I’m in Dallas I’ve given this Uchi a try, and I would say it taste just as good. Unfortunately, I am not a regular just because the service is not as great. I do find it strange that even on a birthday (like I recently made reservations for) you don’t get a free appetizer, house bottle of sake, dessert, absolutely nothing. That is extremely weird, especially for how expensive the place is and I’m usually dropping a few hundred every time I go in there….. disappointing to say the least. That would be my only complaint.

Went to Uchi for Mother's Day. This was my second time here; first time was something like six years ago. Not much had changed -- still the same top-notch level of service and quality of food. I highly recommend the walu walu, hama chile and the brussel sprouts. We also had the salmon and scallop nigiri, spicy crunchy tuna roll, shag roll, Japanese pumpkin tempura, short ribs and pork belly which were all good. We live out in the 'burbs so rarely get into Dallas to dine out but I will definitely add this our list for special occasions.

Love that omakase can be (slightly) modified to suit your needs. It was more expensive than Uchiko (Austin) happy hour omakase, but I was satisfied with food/portion/pace/selection.

The service at Uchi has unfortunately gone way Down. The servers seem less experienced and certainly less concerned with the customer. We had several mistakes with our order and the server was oblivious.

Uchi is always our go to for special occasions. Birthday, anniversary, or anytime we get a craving for a shag roll. The food is always amazing and the staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Looking forward to seeing you next time!

Branson was a great server. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Food was amazing as always! The anchovy nigiri was probably my favorite item and i wouldn’t normally have ordered that but my dinner partner selected it! Fried Milk dessert for the win.

Food was outstanding but service was dreadful. It was 10 min before anyone came to our table when we first sat down. Drinks took a long time and refills were difficult to get. It really changes your overall experience when u have bad service. Because this was the first time for sub par service and the food is sooo good, we will probably be back to try one more time.

Best sushi experience my partner and I have had yet. Flavors were incredible, and the service was excellent. Would definitely dine here again. Favorite bite was the kasugodai, but you will not regret anything you order!

The food was fantastic as always. The wait staff, unfortunately, was not as excellent as in the past. Previously, the servers were very enthusiastic about Uchi and were excited to recommend food options, etc. This time our server seemed aloof, impatient, and almost unwilling to make recommendations or take our order. Nevertheless, the food was excellent and our guests were very impressed with the restaurant.

I don’t like leaving this review because this place is always a tough ticket and now it’ll be even tougher to get a seat, but Uchi has the best sushi in Dallas… maybe anywhere. If there’s better I want to try it. Service never disappoints either. They are always spot on when bringing out your order. They explain what you ordered and the flavors to expect. They’re simply the best.

My wife and I have claimed Uchi as our restaurant, it is our go to for a romantic dinner or to just say I love you. The food is always perfect and the waitstaff is exceptional. We always have our waiter curate our meal for us and it is always amazing.
