Fit the bill for a Sunday brunch with mixed age party which takes reservations. French toast good, country steak Benedict and omelet meh. Service spotty. Overall mixed experience.

We were looking for a quiet place to enjoy a nice dinner and be able to have an on-going conversation. We found it at the Statehouse. And my halibut eas perfect.

We went to The Statehouse early-ish (6:30) on a Friday night when it wasn’t terribly busy. We got a table next to the window with a beautiful view of the lake. We had drinks and a bread and butter board appetizer recommended by our waiter, Jamarie, followed by a delicious wedge salad which the restaurant split for us to share. My dining companion ordered the traditional fish fry (fried cod) which she said was among the best she’s had in Wisconsin. She said it wasn’t at all greasy or too fishy, and the accompanying coleslaw was excellent, as was the rye bread. I had the filet mignon cooked just as I ordered it (rare) and it was excellent, as were the truffled potatoes that came with it. Jamarie was a pleasant and attentive server who came over at just the right times to make sure we had everything we wanted. The food runners were also very good. By the time we were finishing, it was getting more crowded but that didn’t affect the service or the experience. It was still easy for us to hear each other even with two large parties near us. There was no annoying ambient background music, which was nice. The restaurant is a bit pricey but wasn’t as expensive as many high-end restaurants, and this definitely felt high-end. There were also many less expensive items on the menu we could have chosen had we wanted to keep the price down. There is free covered parking (bring your ticket for validation) in the lot across the street, connected on the fifth floor to the hotel/restaurant so you don’t have to venture outside. It would be a great place for a date, for a business dinner, or for an adult family celebration, or any special occasion.

Our server Ignacio made my mother and grandmother feel so welcomed and taken care of. Ignacio interacted with the individuals at our table in their language of preference. Thank you.

Location is beautiful and the service is very good. The food is just ok, our medium rare steak was well done and the wedge salad was sweet and the bacon was so hard. Probably try somewhere else next time I visit.

Ordered chicken wings that were recommended by the server as interesting and a chef fav. Bit into the first wing and it was cold in the middle. Wasn't sure if they came frozen or fresh but certainly made me nervous. Sent them back. Staff was overly apologetic and tried to accommodate with whatever we needed, which was totally appreciated. The dinner however had an issue. I ordered a medium steak. Dinner plate came and I cut into the steak, it was well done. Alerted the manager, who again apologized, and took my plate back to the kitchen. Came back within a few minutes with what he claimed was another medium steak. Cut into it and medium-well. Sent it back a second time and 20 minutes later got a rare steak. My guest had already finished their meal so I took it and ate. The manager came back later in the evening and told me that the staff wasn't ready for the crowd due to the major conference in the area. Understandable that they weren't ready, but as a steak house you should know temps and be able to deliver what is requested in my eyes. I've been here before and loved this restaurant, but this time just didn't hit the mark.

We were there for Sunday Brunch. I had Salmon eggs Benedict. My husband had French Toast and our granddaughter had a hamburger. All three dishes were delicious. The only problem was the lack of buttons on the elevator. The hall directory said The Statehouse was on the seventh floor. So we sent to 7 and found out it was a room only floor. So we guessed our way back down to the second floor. and the restaurant was there. The hotel needs to have better signage outside and inside the elevator.
