We had a very nice brunch today at The Smith, sitting at an outdoor table. The Bloody Mary’s were spicy and delicious. I had the shrimp and grits so good and cheesy. My friend had the eggs Benedict that were delicious as well. Our server was friendly and alert. Great atmosphere!

The food is great and the service was amazing. It was very crowded, but we had to get out in time for a performance and the waitress was graciously accommodating. The only downside is that it is very loud but it's tolerable as long as you know to expect that..

I have eaten at The Smith previously and had a good experience. This time was far different. Our server was slow to approach the table and when he did he was not very polite. Throughout the meal, he forgot bread (twice), steak knives, and was very rude to my daughter (who actually is a server herself) when she tried to help him hand her the cocktail she had ordered. He actually glared at her and pulled the drink away. I have never seen anything like it. Our meal came after we ordered a bottle of wine. We ate our meal without ever receiving the wine. When he brought the bottle to the table we had already finished our meals. My husband politely said we would not need the wine after all since we had finished before it arrived. Our server actually made an angry face and said that the bartender had to go downstairs to get it and then turned and walked away. It was the worst service I can remember. Absolutely cannot recommend.

Food is always great. Service too. Inside it’s probably the loudest restaurant in nyc so at this location I’ll try to only eat outdoors. Though it was even noisy outside last night. We were near the bus station and the guys were just banging the dirty dishes into the bin.

A friend took me for dinner as a birthday celebration. We had dined here on New Year's Eve and had been eager to return. Our waiter, Marvin, was friendly, extremely attentive, and professional. The service was great. I'm not sure if we enjoyed the food or the drinks more. The fried calamari is a must as an appetizer. So light and tasty, the sauce has a delicious little kick to it. The Hunky Dory is now my favorite drink, so yummy. I could go on and on about our entrees etc...But just to say, I am never dissatisfied at The Smith. I will definitely be returning.

The Smith has nice outdoor seating which we took advantage of for a dinner prior to a Lincoln Center event. My grilled salmon had a Mediterranean theme with sauces and garnishes that worked surprisingly well.

It was very noisy and crowded for lunch. There is a back area and the front hostess (who did not appear busy at all) did not bother to walk me there. I was wandering around looking confused and the hostess at the back room did not even bother to ask if I needed anything. I had to stop a waiter who then directed me to the hostess. The noise level made it impossible to hold a conversation. Waiter took forever to take our order. Then we had to remind him in the middle of our meal that we did not get our drinks. Not likely to go back.
