Sun Valley’s original restaurant, The Ram has been warming and welcoming diners since 1937. This rustic-yet-elegant dinner house has been recently modernized, while still preserving its historic charm. Pianist Larry Harshbarger brings a classic ambiance to the room with gentle melodies played on our resident baby grand piano. Travel back in time with the nightly “Heritage Menu”—a series of historic dishes such as pork tenderloin schnitzel, Hungarian goulash, and the famous Ram fondue—resurrected from the restaurant’s long and storied culinary tradition.

A credit card is required to hold your reservation. Should your plans change, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations and no shows may be charged $25 per person.

Holiday reservations are not available online, but can be made by calling our guest center at 208.622.2800.

The Ram was fantastic, we came to Sun Valley last year but somehow missed this restaurant. The food was delicious, loved the building and dining room as well.

The kitchen 3 years in a row delays serving tables of two in favor of large groups who in my experience arrived after an order was placed. This is not waiter/waitress issue it is the kitchen. I have been visiting this restaurant since 1999 and it’s no longer on my go to list.

Food was ok, not great. I recommend removing the Hungarian gulosh as a signature dish. The trout was fine but the veggies around it were marginal

This historic restaurant is upscale in food and service but casual in attire. Our server, Deborah, has worked there for 17 years and it's obvious she loves it. She made excellent recommendations which we gladly took. We had the Hot Rock appetizer, salmon, Hungarian goulash and bisque soup. The wine recommended by Buddy the Sommelier was spendy, but delicious. Excellent choice, but make reservations.

Alpine ambience, pleasant staff. The food is uneven in quality and food and wine are poor value. Dine in Ketchum for better everything!

We wanted to go to The Ram because of its history. It has a beautiful ambiance. The food was disappointing. It wasn’t bad. It was average. For the price it should have been much better . The service was standard, not bad not great. We were seated, attended to and received our food in a reasonable amount of time. Again, for the price and reputation it should have been a step up. We like to try new restaurants, especially those with history, but this one is a bit of a tourist trap.

The Ram has a wonderful atmosphere with amazing food but horrific service. We waited an hour and a half for dinner and was not even checked on. Beware Food was 5 star !!!!!!!!!!!

Felt like we were barely waited on, our lamb came out cold and pretty raw even though we asked for medium rare, I never got a chance to tell anyone because we only saw our waiter for the initial order taking and the check and by that time they had taken the food from us.

Sun Valley's The Ram is classic old school that will take you to another time. Piano music, great ambiance, fantastic food and service, it was a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Get the bisque! It was amazing!

Wonderful place to eat and enjoy dinner. It is our number 1 choice in Sun Valley and Ketchum. We have dinner at The Ram every month. Summer dinner on the patio at The Ram is unbelievable. I should not be writing this review, because reservations are already difficult to obtain on the weekends.

Our server, Michael, was excellent. He has been our server before and does an excellent job. There were three of us dining, and we all three had different entrees. Amazingly, all three were excellent. I had the 4 ounce Wagyu, another the Oslo Bucco, and the third the beef tenderloin. The Wagyu was expensive but had so much flavor and was so tender. The sauce served with was divine.

My husband and I celebrated an early Valentine’s dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. We definitely enjoyed our early celebration together.

A wonderful dining experience, pricy, but worth every nickel. The meals we ordered were varied, trout, duck, sole, pasta, not to mention the deserts, which were world class. Service was perfect, more European than US, no rush, but on time, and appreciative of our presence. Our party consisted of myself, my three grown children and my seven year old granddaughter. Do not miss this restaurant, if you can afford it. As a side note, the first time I ate at “The Ram” was 1971, this was an entirely different experience.

The service was extremely slow. We had three children with us and they didn’t take our dinner order for at least an hour. It was difficult. The food was good for some poor for others. The steak was a hit but everything else average or mediocre

We’ve been going here for years for the fondue. This year they have raised the price and reduced the portions. We added the beef tip ($20 up charge). So $68 for fondue is a bit much. And we had a lot of bread and apples left over. Not enough cheese fondue.

Amazing experience. Great meal and service. Loved the fondue and the hot stone steak. We will absolutely return every time we visit Sun valley. It’s a must.

We had a wonderful time at the Ram, everything was perfect. We enjoyed seared scallops to start and spinach beet salad. The scallops were to die for in the lemony sauce, perfectly cooked and not overdone. The beet salad had lots of beets and was slightly warm. Both were scrumptious! We had rack of lamb and the duck for our main entree both of which were beautifully plated! Both entries were wonderful and what we expected. We did not have dessert as we were simply not able to. Our dinner was accompanied by the piano player, Larry who plays oldies and carries on a conversation with locals who know him. We highly recommend the Ram.

Adorable mid-mountain restaurant. The fondue is a must have! Could be a challenge getting too if you struggle with stairs.
