The Railbridge Bistro serves contemporary Scottish cuisine in Edinburgh’s idyllic South Queensferry village. The menu boasts dishes such as Shetland Mussels, Smoked Haddock, and Steak pie as well as a varied selection of light bites and starters. Situated at 4 Newhalls Road, the restaurant also offers seperate breakfast, dessert and children's menus. As the name would suggest, The Railbridge Bistro is located near to the Firth of Forth railway bridge, and offers excellent views. Edinburgh Waverley Station is a twenty nine minute drive and Arthur's Seat is a thirty four minute journey by car.

Food was lovely but think a wee bit overpriced for what we had. The cream with my scone was off (smelt awful) and the rest of the cream was not removed from the refrigerator out front. All in all was nice and Joanna (manageress) was lovely and bubbly and friendly. Will return but will definately avoid anything with cream 🥺

Beautiful views, good food but serving staff were rather slow and seemed unaware how long they had left us sitting before taking our order.

Food and service very good, only thing I would say for me personally as adding gratuity on the bill is a bit presumtious. Better to ask when paying at the time.

A rather disappointing experience. The order was wrong when it arrived. Can't be that hard to get the eggs and bread right on an order for 2 breakfast. Some of the food was cold when plates returned. We were charged £31 for 2 breakfasts with tea which is NOT value for money . Far better places available.

Food was excellent quality and perfect portion size. A very varied menue, including quite a few vegetarian options, and at very fair prices. From ordering to actually eating was only about 15 minutes but the time flew in, due to the outlook from the window and also the many interesting facts on the restaurant walls. There was also tv's showing the bridges being built. Servers were very polite and attentive, the place was very clean and the whole ambiance of the restaurant was just perfect for a quiet anniversary meal with my husband. I

The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, the waitress took our order, then about 10 mins later came back to say they had deleted it off the system! We then waited a long time for our food. The food that came was fine. Not amazing! We had to ask for missing drinks from our order, and eventually I had to go up and get something. I went to pay the bill and gave some feedback about our experience and they staff member didn’t seem to care. She removed a service charge which should never have been in the bill in the first place. Nothing further was offered to make up for the terrible service. The excuse we got was coaches of people came in. (They didn’t, we’d been there before anyone else and only one lady came on from a mini bus to use the bathroom and left again.) Overall disappointing as I always loved coming to this place. It holds some special memories as we came here for a celebration a few years back! I doubt I’ll return after this visit. This place has become too popular with tourists that the staff don’t really care about returning local customers. Really sad.

Great location and view. Service was very friendly and fast. We had fish and chips, burger, Cullen skunk and chicken and haggis - all good but could be fresher. Overall a lovely experience and will go back!

Menu has changed and not for the better. Got a main of macaroni and another got a side of macaroni. The side came sloppy with no grilled cheese on top with no taste. It would be good to have more lunch options, not everyone wants a full meal at lunch.

Pleasant trip time compared to last trip as no dogs in restaurant. Music not so loud and not quite so busy. A pleasant visit and food was lovely and service was good.

Me and my family had a lovely meal for Mother’s Day, the food and service was lovely! Only complaint is that I never ordered two scoops of the delicious ice cream!! ☺️ We will definitely be back for more ice cream!

Ordered pink gin, came regular gin with no explanation. Queried it and they said it's because they don't have pink, rather than ask me for an alternative they chose to give me regular gin. Ordered gluten free chicken and haggis meal it arrived with no haggis, asked where the haggis was and replied, it's only gluten free if we take out the haggis, This wasn't explained whilst I was ordering otherwise I would not have chosen chicken. The chicken came with 4 half boiled potatoes and a spoon of veg, definitely not worth 19.00.

A lovely atmosphere also filled with the excitement of scotland vs Italy at the 6 nations. Waiting staff were very attentive. Where we were sat had a lovely view of the forth and we never sat on the upper level before. Food was great and could have the bridges by the beach in a pitcher it was that good!

Lovely place with good food, service and ambience. We were there for a Mother’s Day celebration. It also happened to be Scotland v Italy in the Six Nations so the atmosphere was great. The piper was brilliant and the half time complimentary pies were a nice touch. Lovely, efficient staff too

The restaurant, the setting, the staff and the food were all great. There were however two points that might make me rethink a future visit. 1. The coffee was poor. I had a cappuccino which was basically a very weak flat white. 2. The vegetarian choices were scarce. Two of us had the vegetarian stir fry. This cost just short of £15. It was listed as stir fried vegetables with sauté potatoes. It was in fact, a small soup bowl of baby potatoes, cut in half and browned on one side, with a very small portion of vegetables. The taste was delicious, but the presentation and quantity was more that of a side dish, which should have cost no more than about £4.

We stopped here for lunch on our way north, 4 adults, 4 dogs. We were welcomed by all the staff and showed to a large table with lots of room. Water for the dogs was served first👏 our order taken by a very friendly staff member. My coffee was amazing and my club sandwich and my husband’s steak & onion open sandwich were amazing, can’t rate it highly enough. There was a huge selection of cakes and desserts which we had to avoid (going out for dinner early) but we will go back to sample. We will certainly go back, worth travelling 30minutes for a return visit.

The bread wasn’t fresh , no stock for 3 pudding choices ,it’s went downhill over the years , no light lunches like baked potatoes etc , very disappointed overall . Staff nice and helpful but appears to be poor management .

Food was nice, very busy for a Monday lunchtime. Dogs are allowed but I feel there should be a designated area for diners with dogs. I had a dog sitting at my feet belonging to the next table. Other than that I enjoyed visit to rail ridge

Enjoyed a delicious meal with a lovely view of the bridges while listening to live music, perfect evening, Thanks also to the lovely staff who were friendly, efficient and helpful, we will definitely be back soon.

The Railbridge bistro was great as always. We brought visitors from Manchester and they loved the view and the food. The service was excellent and it was lovely that the server who had started our service came over at the end of her shift to wish our visitors well and say bye. Our visitors commented how welcoming they have found it here in bonny Scotland. Thank you

Food was okay, starter for 7.50 pp very small pathetic looking portion on very small plate, main again small portions, I had the mussels which were okay my partner had the fajitas not what I expected chicken in a sauce not sizzling in a marinade, 3 tiny tortillas ( never seen that before!) and asked for more for the spare meat and was charged extra for them ?, vastly overpriced for very very average meal. So £60 for 2 starter 2 mains and 2 Diet Coke won’t be back

We met up with family and had a lovely breakfast at the Railbridge Bistro. The waiting staff were attentive and kept checking how we were getting on. The breakfast was tasty and well cooked.

Beware of sneaky service charge. It’s not mentioned in the menu so you can refuse. Think it’s underhanded to add it and then ask if it’s ok. Won’t be back unless this is stopped.

A reliable quality - found over fairly regular visits for many years. Good menu, sensibly priced with first class staff. Location, and views allow seeing the bridges and what is happening in the Forth at very close quarters. I will be back.

The food came really quickly after we ordered only trouble was one of the order wasn’t correct so I had to eat my meal while my husband waited for the correct. The meal itself tho was satisfactory.
