Occupant une superbe maison de ville du XIXe siècle au cœur du Vieux carré français, à La Nouvelle Orléans, au coin de Bienville Street et d'Exchange Place, le restaurant The Pelican Club propose un large éventail de fabuleux plats de la Nouvelle Orléans, trois salles à manger et un grand bar. Le propriétaire Richard Hughes et son épouse Jean Stinnett-Hughes ont transformé un joyau architectural abandonné en un restaurant accueillant, décoré avec un mélange étonnant de touches traditionnelles et contemporaines. Chaque salle bénéficie de sa propre ambiance, agrémentée d'éléments aussi divers que du cyprès bruni de Louisiane, des peintures contemporaines d'artistes de la Nouvelle Orléans et des gravures anciennes. The high ceilings and acoustics make for a very noisy room. Service was slow and uneven. Food came out before wine, bread came after salads, and food - duck, fish with crawfish - was subpar. Overall an underwhelming experience. There are so many Creole restaurants in New Orleans, there is no need to choose this one.

We had a party of seven in the bar and it was overall nice because you could look out the windows, but we have a very noisy table next to us. The waitress was overworked and we know most restaurants they are shorthanded. The food in general was good.

Great ambience, food and service. Highly professional staff. The 3 and 4 course dinners are a good value and offer a nice variety; for a few dollars extra, you can "upgrade" to different things. Extensive wine by the bottle list, nice cocktails. I would definitely go again.

Elegant and exquisite is my description of the fantastic food and experience at the Pelican Club. Consistently one of the top meals of my year they never cease to amaze me with creativity and perfect execution of the dishes. Thank you.

This was not the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. Most of our 7 person group were underwhelmed by their meal. I had hoped for a classic New Orleans dining experience, and it was not that. I felt like I was in a banquet hall with mass produced meals and sloppy plating. Main courses had been listed as having embellishments such as rice or potatoes--the portions of those sides were very small, whether served in a tiny ramekin or a few potatoes tossed onto the plate. As others have mentioned, the noise level is quite high, at least in the center dining room which is set up to accommodate large parties. The most positive aspect of the evening was the service.

Richard Hughes has done it again. An amazing dinner at the Pelican Club! We started with an appetizer of seared scallops, then the whole fish accompanied with an incredible citrus sauce, and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. The whole meal was perfection!

Very good food. Fish done to perfection. Seat on bench sunk in. Not very comfortable. Service very nice but had a lot of groups that were loud.

We ate at the bar and had THE BEST service by the two bartenders. I had the carrot ginger soup and my husband the gumbo. Both were excellent and not too salty. We split the braised pork shank and grits and a “wedge” salad for our main. They were both delicious and enough to split! For dessert we split the bread pudding with bourbon sauce…OMG..this was delicious. The restaurant is a hidden gem on exchange place! Just quit reading this and make a reservation!

I love everything about the Pelican Club. I always go there on special occasions because they know how to treat their guests. The food, service and ambiance were perfect. Randy was our waiter again and he never disappoints. Highly recommend.

Food was Great but we were all (8 of us) FREEZING!!! I have never complained about it being cold at a restaurant but it made our dinner unenjoyable. We asked the waiter to lower it but they refused. Maybe if the waiters were allowed to wear short sleeves they could turn down the A/C for customers. The waiter was nice enough to bring a tablecloth to wrap around my shoulder and my sister had to wear napkins on her arms. Unfortunately we would never return.

Great food. Sadly poor service - our waiter started well, but kept forgetting us and things we ordered. Real shame the service didn’t match the food.

Terrific food. Friendly and efficient water. Never rushed. We started with glasses of champagne ordered crab & shrimp raviogate and a Caesar salad with real anchovies ( not the canned stuff), walnut crusted lamb chops, duck schnitzel and ended with a rich chocolate cake and creme brulee. Each and every dish was “marvelous “. Good selections of wine at about $14/glass. Just as good as 20 years ago without the formal attire. Jeremy is one of the best waiters in New Orleans

My husband and I both had a great time at the restaurant last night. He ordered the lamb chops and I had the pan seared redfish. Both dishes were wonderful and the service was great.

Our server just didn’t even look in our direction for 15 to 20 minutes, buy the time we flagged him down i asked him to take all of our drink, food and desert orders as i knew we were not going to see him again for a while. It all took a long time he didn’t check on us at all. When we needed anything we couldn’t get his attention. The food was great.

Wonderful night! I’ve lived in Nola my whole life and for the last 8 years I’ve worked around the corner from The Pelican Club and I’ve never had the opportunity to enjoy this gem. While Devin and Adam were fantastic crafting specialty cocktails their service and attention to detail was greatly appreciated. I had the 4 course meal which included creamy shrimp bisque, BBQ shrimp, ribeye, and white chocolate bread pudding. My wife had the 3 course meal which included the little gem Ceaser salad, Louisiana Cioppino, and coconut pie. Every dish was spectacular. Located on walking alley that offered peacefulness away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. We will definitely return for another wonderful experience!

Excellent appetizers, salads & steaks. The lamb shank was not edible. A very strange mix of flavors, tasteless grits, too much crumbled cheese (goat?) that overpowered the taste of everything else. You couldn’t avoid it. Fabulous desserts! Skip the shank & all is good 👍

Delicious and great relaxing outside sidewalk dining. Gracious and accommodating staff. All dinners were delicious , Cioppino and whole gulf fish were delicious. Only disappointment was cold coffee with desert.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Service from Jeremy was great. Love the art on the walls. The food was outstanding, but special shout out to the whole crispy fish. Yum!
