L'Optimist and Oyster Bar du The Optimist peut simplement être décrit par « quand les Hamptons rencontrent le Sud ». Cet établissement est engagé dans un approvisionnement en fruits de mer éco-responsable et les prépare de manière classique. Il ne cherche pas à réinventer la roue, simplement à rôtir parfaitement des poissons et crustacés, issus d'une « ferme », au feu de bois de noyer blanc de Géorgie. Les éléments proposés dans le menu varient, du gumbo de fruits de mer le plus authentique avec « repas-partage » à base de pain à l'ail aux rouleaux de homard du Maine, en passant par le mérou du Golfe avec oignons viadalias fumés et une sélection en constante évolution d'huîtres super fraîches des côtes Est et Ouest. L'ironie du sort veut que les propriétaires aient adapté une « cave » de vieillissement historique de la région en un espace incroyable de confort et d'évasion grâce à des inspirations de la culture surf côtière. We had the best waiter named Odell. He went over the menu and explained each section and was very knowledgeable of the ingredients in each dish. Everyone enjoyed everything. What a wonderful Mother’s Day!

My wife and I absolutely love The Optimist! We have eaten here many times and it never disappoints. The service, the food, the drinks, everything is always exceptional. I have recommended this place so many times to friends and family. Can’t recommend enough! 5 stars all around!

Our group had a wonderful experience at The Optimist. The service and food were outstanding from start to finish. This was my first experience at this restaurant, and I will definitely be returning.

Savannah and the rest of our servers were excellent. Food was excellent but we both felt that the sauce for the crispy potatoes should be on the side.

I came to celebrate my birthday, and was unfortunately pretty underwhelmed. Both my drink and entree just really seemed to be lacking flavor. And I was honestly shocked when we were served two small octopus tentacles for our appetizer. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things? With celebrating my birthday, like every other restaurant I’ve been to, I figured we would be offered complimentary champagne or dessert. Which we were unfortunately not offered. I maybe would have been willing to give the Optimist a second shot if this was the case. Our sever was fantastic though and gave us a free round of drinks when our entrees were taking long. But, I’m not sure I’d like to come again based on this first impression.

Hello, The food and service was outstanding. It was my wife’s birthday and they made it a note in the reservation and they had the menu personally stamped for her… Happy Birthday and they also provided a nice birthday greeting after dinner too. The food again was the best Swordfish… I have had since our last outing at the optimist over 10 years again and my wife’s lobster is the best one ever South of Kittery Maine for Chancy Lobster bar in Maine!!! OUTSTANDING TO THE STAFF, COOKS, and SERVERS!!! A+++

Let me start by saying the service and hosting staff are incredible. So kind and attentive and welcoming. And brought us a sweet delicious dessert for our anniversary celebration. This is my third time at the Optimist but likely the least impressed I've been with the food. I had the fish chowder - the flavor was amazing but it wasn't very hot when it arrived at the table. Additionally I had the salad with the blue cheese and it was very vinegar-y. My husband had the Mahi Mahi and the Cauliflower- the Cauliflower was great. I also asked for a mocktail and was told the bar would make something up and they asked what I liked. I mentioned a lot of things- ginger being one of them- and the drink I got back was the most ginger I'd ever tasted. I told the server and he agreed to have them adjust it. He brought it back and it was better but still very ginger-y. Later they brought a totally different mocktail over without my asking that was better. I feel like any restaurant these days should have at least 3 signature mocktails so we know what we're getting. I had a mocktail here before and it was great, so it may depend on who's on staff.

We had a wonderful experience at the Optimist with Tristan as our waiter. The selection and quality of oysters was outstanding and we enjoyed ordering several rounds. We did not feel rushed as we ordered several rounds of food over the course of a few hours. Tristan is amazing and he made the experience memorable and feel beyond personalized! After finding out it was our birthdays, they brought out a beautifully decorated tray with our desserts and glasses of champagne, including a special handmade note (and there was no embarrassing song and dance). Tristan worked with the kitchen to make sure our allergy and dietary needs were met. Even with our dietary restrictions the food came out fabulously and we did not feel limited in our options -- huge props to the kitchen staff. Only comment would be to include more red wine options by the glass. All of the staff who we interacted with were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious and the entire experience was special and memorable. We hope to make the Optimist a new birthday tradition!

The Optimist is one of my top 5 spots in Atlanta. This visit we tried the octopus and smoked fish fried rice. Both were sublime! The redfish was expertly prepared-crispy skin, moist and flakey flesh underneath. Let's not forget the rolls! A must-try restaurant.

The lobster roll was disappointing. Too much lemon overpowering the aioli. The brioche bun was hard, not soft. The hush puppies tasted like the oil they were fried in. Service was impeccable. Fried oysters were generous and delicious. Bisque was so so, cauliflower was delicious but needed more labneh, capers and raisins. A free dessert for my birthday was appreciated. Will more likely return to Beetlecat than here.

The oysters were great. Our server was fantastic. Never had to ask for anything. The octopus was amazing. Had a great piece of fish - Arctic Char. it was a very good overall meal.

This was perfect for my daughter and her prom date. I ate at the bar while they sat at a table. The service was excellent, staff was so friendly, and the food was incredible. I’ll be back for sure!

The food and the service were great. It was my friend’s birthday and we ordered several things to share which is a highly recommended way to eat here. Portions are all on the small side so you will order several items but every dish is well thought out and cooked to perfection. Everyone from the hosts to waitstaff are friendly and competent.
