L'Optimist and Oyster Bar du The Optimist peut simplement être décrit par « quand les Hamptons rencontrent le Sud ». Cet établissement est engagé dans un approvisionnement en fruits de mer éco-responsable et les prépare de manière classique. Il ne cherche pas à réinventer la roue, simplement à rôtir parfaitement des poissons et crustacés, issus d'une « ferme », au feu de bois de noyer blanc de Géorgie. Les éléments proposés dans le menu varient, du gumbo de fruits de mer le plus authentique avec « repas-partage » à base de pain à l'ail aux rouleaux de homard du Maine, en passant par le mérou du Golfe avec oignons viadalias fumés et une sélection en constante évolution d'huîtres super fraîches des côtes Est et Ouest. L'ironie du sort veut que les propriétaires aient adapté une « cave » de vieillissement historique de la région en un espace incroyable de confort et d'évasion grâce à des inspirations de la culture surf côtière.     Have been here several times and have always had a good experience. Sadly, this was not to be the case this day. Started off with oysters which were very good and cocktails which were fair. My wife had to send hers back to be made again. Then had the octopus which was inedible. It was fatty and chewy. Each had one bite and quit. The shrimp a la plancha were equally disappointing. The sauce was lukewarm and the shrimp were mealy and mushy. Couldn’t finish this either. The one bright side was the service from Amanda which was excellent. Left hungry with $150 tab for two and went around the corner to Eight Sushi Lounge and had a great meal. Will not return unless it’s just for oysters and beer, but these can be had much cheaper elsewhere.

    I have not been to this spot in quite some time. It was fantastic. The food, service and atmosphere are all perfection. We will become regulars again!

    Let me start by saying we usually have a great experience at this restaurant. However, last night we brought a new friend with us last and we did not have the same experience. We sat outside and noticed our server was in the weeds a little bit so we told her we would help her out by ordering all of our food at one time ONLY if she would space it out so we could enjoy our evening. She said she would absolutely do this and she would take care if it all. Not 10 minutes later (before our cocktails even arrived), out came 4 of our 5 apps all at one time. The drinks took another 10 minutes and then the last app arrived without the bread that goes along with it (that took about 15 minutes so the shrimp just sat there). The entrees arrived shortly after (which were delicious). All in all our dining experience was over in 60 minutes. We were never asked if we wanted another cocktail and out went.

    The ambiance and food was really good. The food came out at the right pace and accommodating a gluten free dinner was no problem. The speed at which the table was emptied and the bill was brought while people were just finishing/finished with dinner was a bit too fast and can be improved.

    Great server and the oysters were excellent. Also had the soft shell crab and a few drinks, but oysters were the star.

    This place is cutting corners. The entire experience started off wrong. The valet opens my door, fails to open the door for my wife, and proceeds to tell me the cost is $6 “plus a tip.” He straight up told me that I have to tip them. It was borderline aggressive. I would have tipped them more than $2 had he just been professional. Our waitress was nice. For an appetizer, we ordered octopus without sauce. When one of the servers brought us octopus with sauce, she stared at us like an idiot as if we had done something wrong, when we asked her to take it back. I order the lobster roll, which was a joke. The roll was probably 3.5 inches tall. A slit of about 1 inch deep was made in the top of the roll and that was filled with lobster. The amount of lobster in the lobster roll was laughable. I really wish I would have taken a picture of it to share here. Honestly, I don’t think this restaurant will be open 5 years from now.
