Always a great meal. Unfortunately it was the 2nd time being sat with my wife nearest the door between inside/outside dining. It’s distracting hearing a door opening constantly one foot from your head, especially when other two persons tables were available. Next time I’ll speak up and ask to sit somewhere else.

I’ve been to The Mustard Seed many times and I have always given it five stars. This time though was a huge disappointment. Our waiter was great, however and I definitely give him five stars, although he didn’t give us his name so I cannot publicly give him the credit he deserves. Other than him, unfortunately, everything else was under par. It took about an hour for our entrees to be served because the kitchen was “backed up.” Our waiter told us there were a lot of “choice words” going back and forth between the kitchen staff. I think they must have been having a bad/off night. I had the petrale sole and it was just OK. It felt like my stomach was in my throat most of the night and I had terrible heartburn. It was just too rich for me and I felt awful most of the night, well beyond 10 hours after I completed dinner. (Usually I get the scallops but I decided to try something different and I had only heard good things about the sole). Like I said, I think the kitchen and staff were just having an off night. If this had been my first time at The Mustard Seed, I wouldn’t be returning. But I’ve been many times before and have always loved it so I am chalking this experience up to a one off.

When I come into town, my daughter and I always come to the mustard seed. The food is fabulous. My rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and my daughter’s duck looked great. Their desserts are exceptional. My chocolate croissant bread pudding capped off my experience to a tee.

Had the French Dip. It was cold, tough and sparse. The fries were cold and old. Usually this lunch is very good. Disappointed

Small and intimate. Very attentive yet low key and unrushed. The food was exceptional. Must have the croissant bread pudding !

We went to the Mustard Seed for lunch. The food was delicious and it was a very nice atmosphere, not too crowded and not too noisy. We will definitely go to the Mustard Seed again.

First timer, but the service was amazing. It was just lunch, which was great, but excited to come back for a dinner. The back door patio was a perfect venue for a pretty warm day. People could not have been nicer👍🏻🍷

Food was great!!! We sat in the back patio, it’s very zen and relaxing. Josh, our server was well informed on the ingredients of each guest and unique flavors.

Service great. Attention to gluten free fantastic. I ordered the pork loin which seriously just a slab of fat. I think I got about 3 pieces that were not solid fat. The rest of the meal was great but eating fat (this is not marblized meat- just straight fat is not good.

The food was superb- like shockingly delicious- the only issue is the space is small so conversations should be in an inside voice - they serve Sudwerk beer which is excellent and have a robust wine menu but no cocktails - highly recommended

This restaurant never fails to meet or exceed our expectations. Staff is great; food is wonderful and we enjoy the outdoor dining space no matter what the weather brings. All the menu items are delicious. Last night our table had the rack of lamb, the sea scallops, the rib eye steak, and the prawn pesto pasta. We would recommend any of the to you. This is the finest dinner house in Davis.

It was a very nice experience. I took my friend Lisa for her birthday and we really enjoyed the food. They were very conscientious to keep us there until showtime and made sure that we made our Mondavi performance on time. Wonderful couple on this restaurant and they are very attentive and very good people.

Had a lovely meal. Menu was a bit limited but what we chose was great. Friendly service. Mustard sauce w pork was excellent!

Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The strawberry feta salad had a couple of sad brown lettuce leaves. The mustard sauce on the pork chop was very good and my husband enjoyed the Portuguese cod very much. The profiteroles are my favorite dessert anywhere!

It's always a pleasant experience to dine at The Mustard Seed. The servers are always very attentive but don't hover. A perfect balance! The food is great and the ambiance on the enclosed patio is peaceful although sometimes it feels energetic if there are a lot of people. I definitely will go back many times!

Ordered four mains: duck, rack of lamb, and two ribeyes. Wait time after orders placed was close to an hour, which was understandable since every dish is prepared fresh. Duck was fantastic but the sweet potato puree was luke warm, almost cold (disappointing with a $45 price tag). Ribeye had too much madeira sauce on it … felt like Applebees. Could be a great little place but definitely missed the mark on multiple visits now.

The Mustard Seed continues to be a reliable, well-run go-to restaurant. The food is good, the ambiance quiet and refined, and the service excellent. The only slightly negative comment I can make is that red meat dominated the short entree menu. It would be nice to have a greater choice. We had an excellent Apple Current Tart desert. Our highest recommendation for the Mustard Seed.

I thought the lunch menu was limited. For a crab sandwich, i would have preferred it not being a crab cake between 2 slices of bread. Service was not attentive.

Everything was incredible and we had a wonderful time! Chair design seemed out of place as the raw wood feel did not match any other wooden element in the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was a delight. Looking forward to coming back!

Nice restaurant, beautiful setting for a meal. We hosted a couple of visitors for a business lunch. The service was good, our water was refilled often. We were offered wine, but no other non-alcoholic beverages were offered. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. The butternut squash soup was good, but the chicken sandwich I ordered was nothing special. The chicken was quite dry and the bread too hard (toasted too much?) The americano I had after the meal was really good. One of our guests requested tea and they don't have it on the menu. Overall, a solid 3 stars, but I thought it was pricey for the quality of the food.

The valentine experience wasn’t worth it. Maybe visiting the restaurant on a normal day would change my review but the wait/service wasn’t the greatest. We waited about 30-35mins to get our main course after getting our appetizers. Plus it took forever for them to just service us water. The food once received was good, no complaint there. They just didn’t seem well prepared for the night.
