Very nice meal. Was surprised that they charged 20% gratuity automatically for our table of 4. I noticed when filling out slip… I was in process of giving an additional 30% tip and then noticed extra charges (credit card and gratuity). Both automatic charges have been mentioned somewhere- comes off deceptive. (The 20% gratuity is listed on menu for tables of 5 or more)

First time I was dissatisfied with my visit and had nothing to do with the quality of food. Totally dissatisfied with the fact the restaurant didn't have $30 in change. They are automatically charging a credit card fee on the bill. My bill was $176 including the fee. It should have been around $172 after deducting the fee but they had no change and were only able to give me $25 back. If they do this to every customer that pays in cash, how much money are they pocketing by not being able to return change?

Tiramisu was outstanding, all other dishes were okay. We had the pesto e scampi and the pumpkin ravioli both of which we thought we could make just as well at home. Ask for light cheese on the bruschetta. Nice ambience, delicious wine, but overpriced in general.

From when we stepped thru the door, until we left, we were treated like we were the most important table in the place. The service was stellar and the food was beyond amazing. Every server would speak or acknowledge you, I have never felt so special. Every table was treated special and every plate of food was a delicious work of art. It is an amazing intimate dining experience and I highly recommend it.

This is an excellent Italian restaurant. My mom and grandma would enjoy eating here. Very authentic northern Italian fare. This is a great place to meet and enjoy friends and family over a great meal. Service was terrific and staff was friendly.

Nice lunch experience. The cheese board was a little disappointing this time. It had only one tiny piece of a soft cheese than the rest hard, aged cheeses. Their focaccia is delightful. The sea-bass was delicious and perfectly cooked. The clams were so/so this time around. Some were good and some didn’t taste as fresh.

We visit Italian Barrel every year when we travel to NOLA for Jazz Fest. Food was still good, although prices have definitely increased. There were 6 of us, 7 drinks, 5 pasta dishes, and 1 appetizer was $440. The service was exceptionally and disappointingly slow. The restaurant added a 20% gratuity to the check, which made the horribly slow service even more frustrating.

The food was fantastic! A few hiccups on a few things but those were more preferences rather than lacking quality. The service is what really brought the grade down for me. I’ve eaten there several times before and the wait staff has always been super fantastic and attentive. Tonight, they were as attentive as they could be, but they were clearly short staffed. I know that in this post Covid world sometimes that can’t be helped but nevertheless, that is a huge part of the experience in fine dining. the times I’ve been there in the past, their service has been impeccable. It’s hard to go from that to just barely getting my waiters attention. He was great, but just overworked. The entire restaurant only had two waiters, a bartender One bus, and the manager, and it was a full house. still love it, will continue to patronize, but I hope that they can get more staff to give their patrons the type of service that would accompany the level of food that you get there .

Food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent, as it always is!!! We had the clams in a white wine, garlic and butter sauce, truffle oil infused polenta, jumbo lump crab martini, chicken Parmesan, and the pumpkin ravioli. To wrap things up we were lucky enough to have the homemade tiramisu! We will definitely be back!!!

Possibly the worst service we’ve had at a restaurant. The service was slow - took 45 minutes after we ordered our drink to get it. But the worst part was the rude server Alle who obviously hated her job. Left us with empty drinks more than once. When we ordered she’d forget to bring them. Then look bewildered and mad when we asked for them when she came by. Everything was a no when you asked. Asked many times for cutlery to eat. And if it’s possible there were worse servers. The male server who dropped off our dessert - rolled his eyes when we asked for cutlery and small side plates to share. Now our bill wasn’t inexpensive- in fact it was 1500 with a forced 20 percent tip for 7 of us. I would have given zero. And I’m not sure I’ve ever done that. So rolling of the eyes because we want to share four desserts isn’t acceptable. Then he ignored us and went to fold napkins. We had to get up to ask for plates. The manager was nice - he stopped once to open some wine. But you can tell he is no match for the servers who are going to run that restaurant to the ground. Finally I’d say the food was amazing - really great. But take your blood pressure pills for this experience.

Do yourself a favour and get along here. The food is amazing, the bruschetta and cherry tomatoes are one of the most amazing taste explosions I have ever tasted. Service is first class and it an all round cracking restaurant.

Our group of (8) truly had a wonderful "food" experience. We started with a glass of wine outside at a cute cafe table, then headed into the historic brick building for dinner. The bread was served fresh and warm and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Pastas (incredible) were presented with a side flower on each dish like a piece of art. Meatballs were very good but a bit pricey for the size. Desert was actually one of the best gelato/caramel/chocolate desserts any of us had ever had which was the perfect way to end a perfect meal. Service was excellent. Our server was totally attentive during our entire meal. Add the Italian, serene, brickhouse feel of being away from it all in a beautiful room and you have a dream to share. We felt like we were in Tuscany. Highly recommend.

We tried to get in early at 5 pm for a dinner reservation on a Saturday night. They were buried because of the musical festival and were unable to accommodate us in a timely manner. We ate someplace else. But scheduled another reservation for 11:15 am the next day and had no problem. Food was very good and ambiance good.

It was very busy! Sat at the bar as I made a last minute reservation. Bartender was average, didn’t give us the special, had to ask. Food was great! Will return for another meal but wasn’t blown away.

The staff was very friendly and helpful particularly as we were seeking an outside table overlooking one of the stages at French Quarter Fest. Wait staff were friendly and efficient as well. We had two starters, the cheese board and clams which were delicious.

Our first time visiting The Italian Barrel and was very happy! The food was absolutely amazing and the service was on point. The location is very cool as well, in an old building with a definite Nawlins feel. Highly recommend!

Our party of 3 enjoyed the overall experience. Food was excellent, however, it took a good deal of time to get it! There were couples seated after us that received their food well before us. We didn’t order anything elaborate. I found this very odd. Next we had a young lady who was not our server come to the table and tried to give us salads that were not ours. She came back and said your food is being plated right now it should be here in just a minute and 10 minutes later It finally arrived. I realize this is a small establishment, but I still find it very hard to understand how people seated after us would receive their food well before us? Overall, though however, we would come back. we love the ambience and we love the food just service that night was a little slow for whatever reason, timing, etc.

The service is excellent. You can tell that the servers work extremely well with each other and they communicate very seamlessly. The servers were very kind and interactive, they were also very knowledgeable about the menu items. The table we had was outside and we loved that. The food was the part that surprised us. 4.7 star restaurant that requires a credit card for reservations…… it did not deliver. I had a very good martini accompanied by the spaghetti and veal meatball. My partner had the chicken parm. My pasta and sauce were good, I wasn’t blow away but the pasta was perfectly aldente and the sauce was ok. The meatball was lacking in flavor. The chicken parm dish was just not good. Served with linguini in Alfredo sauce, the chicken was dry and covered in red sauce with a slice of mozzarella on top. Simply put, the food was not good. I think the menu choices are fine, I would have loved to love my food. Didn’t feel fresh and well thought out. Again, the service was impecable.

Cade is a great waiter. We loved sitting on the sidewalk and met neighbors and French Quarter residents passing by. Food was great. Carpaccio with Parmesan and arugula. Tortellini with mushrooms and truffle oil.

What a great find. We lived in New Orleans for many years but this restaurant was established after we left. We wanted something Italian and found this place. Ignore the bad reviews we found nothing but excellent, upscale service along with in house made pasta and sauces which were authentic and delicious. It has a quaint but upscale feel with white tablecloths and charming brick and also an outside seating option. We loved it so much the first night we went, we returned a few days later with our whole family. Highly recommend.
