The Heritage is one of the many classroom/laboratory facilities operated by the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education at Grand Rapids Community College. The restaurant is staffed by students in the culinary programs and is under the direct supervision of Chef and Dining Room Professors.

During lunch, your meal will be prepared and served by first year students. The meals represent International Cuisine with modern and classical touches. In the evening, The Heritage reopens to feature a relaxed atmosphere, more Continental Cuisine, and our second year students will serve and prepare your meal.

The Secchia Institute for Culinary Education restaurants and kitchens are classroom settings. We take pride in them. Our students prepare our meals daily with the finest seasonally available ingredients including freshly baked artisan bread.

The quality of the food is always top of the line. The beef melted in your mouth. The shrimp bisque, delicious. The kitchen forgot to put the blue cheese on my salad & there was little if any dressing on it... it was beautifully arranged though (a work of art!) Oh! the fresh mozzarella appetizer left us wanting more! & the smoked risotto was delicious & a cool experience (how did they do that!) The homemade bread, crusty outside & soft inside; perfect. And as always the flavored butters are a treat. This was the first day for these students, so they were a bit nervous. & we waited a bit for our left overs to come out. But all in all, we love coming here, for the food & the students!

Excellent staff with the instructors present to ensure seamless preparation and service. The food quality was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Totally excellent experience! The food was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. I loved the tasting menu concept - and since wife and I were there with brother and sister-in-law, we were able to do something we had always wanted to do in a fine dining restaurant: we ordered one of everything on the menu! So glad we were able to try each dish and share them, because there was not a single loser in the bunch. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough, but good luck getting a reservation, because I’m taking the next open slot!

I visited during the first week of the semester and the dining experience was already exceptional. The food was fantastic. I had the Haute beef and it was cooked to perfection. The server was clearly very new but was very calm and polite and overall did a great job.

The servers were very polite and attentive. The food was also great and I loved the inventive ways they mixed different ingredients, some I never would have thought to try. The dessert was by far the best. We got the flambé and the chocolate raspberry tart. The raspberry tart was absolutely devine and I’d go back just to have that again. The plating was also very beautiful. The ambience was also good and quiet with classic music playing in the background. You can actually hear each other talk easily, which is a novelty these days. Parking was also simple and free just below the restaurant in the garage.

I would highly recommend the Heritage Restaurant. This was our first time visiting the Heritage and we were pleasantly surprised. These students do an incredible job and they strive to give you the best experience possible. Everyone we met made us feel important and that they valued our patronage. The food was prepared and presented with care, and the flavor combinations were delicious. Servers were personable and engaging. Overall impressed. We will be back!

GRCC’s restaurant is top notch. From the students who are doing front of the house and back of the house, to the chef instructors, it’s a great experience complimented by excellent food. I’ve enjoyed both of my recent visits. My son is in the program, and he really enjoys it. Great work GRCC staff and students!

Wow! What an experience! Our servers (Luke & Nathaniel) rocked, the food was delicious and the overall experience, AMAZING! Very cool that we have this dining option available to us. What a great way to learn!

Very good meal. Attentive staff (a little unpolished in phrasing / questions, but that's part of what they are learning in that environment). Good value for the food & Service. Very nice to see students learning how to manage real-life work issues/problems.

The dining experience was superb. The food, and beer were excellent. The staff was very informative on the preparation and choices of the different courses served. The beer pairings were perfect. All of us enjoyed the entire evening.

This was such a fun experience! The tasting menu was amazing- we were able to try so many dishes that we normally wouldn't have the opportunity to order. The service is friendly and calm- what a great way to spend a night enjoying fine dining.

We loved our lunch at The Heritage. We come several times a year and are never disappointed. The food is always wonderful and the service is great. It is a lovely atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to come back!
