Thomas Makris, de l'île de Skopelos, est tombé amoureux lorsqu'il a rencontré Helen Babalos. Ils se sont rencontrés au Orestes Greek restaurant en 1974, lors d'une tournée de danse grecque en Amérique du Nord. Peu de temps après leur mariage, ils ont eu une vision d'ouvrir un lieu hors du commun à Vancouver; un restaurant grec où tout le monde fait partie de la famille; où tout le monde fait l'expérience d'une délicieuse cuisine maison et d'un service impeccable. En 1984, ils ont ouvert Anatoli Souvlaki dans le nord de Vancouver. Indoors was noisy - but with a corner table we were able to have a conversation, though difficulty hearing each other at times. Food was great, though a bit pricey. Service was cheerful and attentive without getting in the way. Good place to meet friends - lively atmosphere.

Good food. Great tzatziki. Very noisy, but likely that was because of the Canucks game playing the evenung we were there.

Anatoli Souvlaki has been a long time favourite of ours, crossing a bridge to try The Greek By Anatoli - Yaletown didn’t disappoint. Some noise is what we came downtown for, and there was plenty. The food was perhaps less plentiful than on the North Shore, but everything was perfect, especially the desserts! Can’t wait to try again.

The food took a lot longer than what we expected and the cauliflower appetizer was disappointing but the souvlaki and potatoes and wonderful server made up for it. Not sure I’d go back for a special event though.

The food felt like it was prepared in the afternoon, the music being played was very loud and not very enjoyable and the very young waitresses were inappropriately dressed. This was not an enjoyable dinner and I will not recommend it to others.
