Mark, our server, is friendly and attentive. Every time we go there it is a pleasure to see him and enjoy the atmosphere and delicious food. This time we had the escargot, which has a beautiful garlic flavor that we soak up with the freshly made soft crust French bread. The drinks were tasty. The lamb and beef bourguignon were great, served with green beans perfectly cooked and scalloped potatoes. Their selection of desserts is huge.

Such a nice experience. Staff was friendly and worked together to efficiently serve our large party. All the food was so good, we couldn’t help sharing with eachother. We will definitely be back!!

When we lived in San Diego in the mid 80's, we would dine at the French Gourmet before going to the Old Globe with friends. It was our favorite place! Now that we are back in San Diego, we have found the French Gourmet again and it does not disappoint; the food and service were both superb. Thank you!!1

An excellent, cozy, intimate restaurant with a very chill vibe! It's a great little place to sit down and have a romantic dinner with your love! I have taken my wife out to dinner at this place a few times, and we always enjoyed sitting there, listening to some soft piano music in the background, while sipping a good glass of wine until the dinner is served! Servers are very friendly, and painting on the walls always remind us of trattoria in a little village in Italy or an“un petit restaurant” in France ! We were served by a young girl named Alex, and also a guy named Mark. They were very accommodating and friendly! We will certainly go back there! Last, but not least, the food was delicious! Our favorite local restaurant. We had the beet salad, rack of lamb, crab cakes and halibut. All wee supper. Our waiter, Mark is quiet easily the best in the business.

The food was outstanding, every single thing was very delicious!! The service was amazing and we totally enjoyed our anniversary dinner! It happened to be Thursday date night so we ordered 2 dinners with a bottle of wine and dessert all for $79 and enjoyed every bite!! Thank you Michele for always serving quality food!! Merci!!😍

I love French food and I love this place. It is the real deal! I grew up with A French speaking Mother and the menu reminds me so much of the food we had growing up!

Middling basic French fare. The bread was a poor variation of baguette resembling Wonder Bread; however, the house salad and crostini were very good. Entrees were disappointing as they felt very "run of the mill" (scallops and duck) without much flavor. Although house salad was a bargain at $6, the rest was not for what was served.

I came for Easter Brunch. The owner was able to notify an issue with OpenTable reservations time and gave us some options that worked. The food was excellent and delicious They were able to accommodate my teenagers nut allergies. The service staff was top notch and attentive. The wine was great. The also have a bakery and we took some baked goods home.

The French Gourmet was a wonderful experience. We stopped for lunch on our way to an appointment, and boy was it worth the trip! The only drawbacks are its location and the size of the place. On Turquoise Street in north Pacific Beach, it's a bit of a trek to get to, and parking is hard to come by (as it is throughout PB). Inside, there are about 10 tables, and if the place were packed, it would be very crowded indeed. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here any time of day. Our server, Antonio was the consummate host. Attentive but not obsequious, he took care of everything we needed or wanted, quickly and courteously. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, and the food is just outstanding! We had a bowl of French Onion Soup for starters, along with escargot. The soup was everything you'd expect, and the escargot were amazing. Of course, we sopped up every drop of garlic butter with the delicious crusty bread that arrived as soon as we sat down. My wife was hungry for breakfast, so she had the Churro French Toast. It was delicious, heaped with strawberries, and too much to eat in one sitting. I was wanting lunch, so I had the Steak Pommes Frites, a perfectly cooked flat-iron steak with Sauce Bearnaise and the most magnificent French fries! Of course we paid the $4 upgrade to truffle fries, and it was well worth it. The fries were crispy outside, creamy inside, and absolutely fantastic! A glass of the house Bordeaux went perfectly with the dish, and their price was so reasonable for bottles, we purchased two to go. Can't wait to enjoy this wine the next time we grill up a steak of our own. A stop by the pastry counter on the way out completed our adventure, and we nibbled samples of several delicious treats throughout the rest of the afternoon. Needless to say, the next time we're ANYWHERE nearby, we'll be stopping in again. THANK YOU for a thoroughly delightful dining experience!

It was extremely loud, only one server so service was very slow and things were forgotten, she was very sweet though, just overwhelmed. Food was under seasoned and no salt and pepper on table.

Not great- Ran out of prime rib by 7 pm Saturday prime rib day . Beet salad had hardly any beets in it and the dressing was stingy and bland. My NY strip was under seasoned and fatty. My wife’s beef buorguignon was okay but not great.

One of the best & consistent fine dining experiences in all of San Diego County where you can get good value and count on great service. My salmon with dijon dish with mixed greens was perfect and I chose tiramisu with some port wine for dessert.

OUTSTANDING dinner. Went for Saturday Prime Rib night-- it is well worth it. Server could not have been nicer or more professional. The cuisine was delicious all around. Delightful experience. One of our favorite spots.

This is a quaint, longstanding restaurant in PB, offering a nice menu of "not your typical PB fare". The service was excellent and all of the staff (bakery and restaurant) were friendly and accommodating. Most of what we ordered was very good, though not "great". The orders were "generous", which we appreciated (we were able to take some leftovers home), and overall, the meals were a fair value for the price. We had an enjoyable evening and we will definitely return (if for nothing else, to get some of their baked goods of which we picked up a couple to go on our way out...very good).

We always love the food. This time 2 of us had the escargot (a favorite of ours) and we were slightly disappointed that there wasn’t enough garlic in the butter sauce. It didn’t stop us from enjoying them but we did miss that added flavor. We all loved our main courses.

The French Gourmet is really a gem for any meal. The rack of lamb (really more along the lines of lamb chop popsicles) were cooked perfectly, and were among the most tender I've had, and the quantity was more than expected. Salmon dijionaisse was very good, both dishes coming with the same sides, potato au gratin and mixed stewed veggies, both of which were very good. And where else can you get a nice plate of escargot for $9? Highly recommended for any time of day.

The food was good, especially the French Onion Soup, the eggs benedict, and the truffle fries, and the portions were generous, But we were seated 20 minutes late despite having made a reservation well in advance, the host also did not have notes of a change in reservation I made by calling ahead, and there was only one server for several tables, which also delayed our time there. We got no apology for the delay or the missing note, which required re-setting the tables and making us wait even longer. Parking was also extremely difficult; one of our friends circled around the block for 15 minutes before parking in a shopping center and walking 5 blocks to the restaurant. We were glad to try it during restaurant week or else we're not sure it would been a good value.

French gourmet never disappoints. I love going here anytime weather be for breakfast, for wine dinners, special, dinners, holiday dinners, restaurant week or just a nice night out. We al always know that the quality of the food is gonna be great. I love the steak, scallops, the prime rib (offered limited days). The duck confit is delicious as is the beef Bourgogne. Their scalloped potatoes are wonderful as potatoes always are in France and they do a great job on the green beans. I have many delicious desserts to choose from, including the classic crème brûlée . The Pralinska is one of our favorite cakes. Don’t forget to pick up their wonderful croissants for breakfast the next day as well as one of their fresh breads. They also offer some prepared meals to go that you just have to heat up including French onion soup .

Went during SD Restaurant week. 3-course meal for $50. Food was very good, dessert was outstanding. Service was good, but we were seated 15 minutes past our reservation time because 3 ladies who were hogging our table for 6 wouldn’t leave and the restaurant was a bit slow in turning tables, but being Restaurant Week the place was packed. Bordeaux wine was excellent and a good value. Would come to this restaurant again!

We went for dinner for San Diego restaurant week. It was 3 courses for 50 bucks and optional wine pairing for 20 dollars extra . It was a great deal , the wine pours were very generous. The staff were courteous and friendly. The food was all amazing . We had the French onion soup and escargot for our app and chicken Marsala and beef bourguignon for our main dishes . Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Things were not swimming in butter or anything either. They also brought out fresh bread . For dessert we had a gluten free carrot cake which was probably one of the best I’ve ever had and a raspberry bagatelle. We will definitely be back . We sat on the patio with our dog and it felt very French bistro .

We went for restaurant week and it was a great value and experience. All the food was cooked well with good portion sizes. Our server Lina was very friendly and attentive, along with everyone else who helped us. For restaurant week, they made all the entrees gluten free. I wish that there were as many GF options on the regular menu and we would go far more often. The carrot cake is delicious and my cappuccino was perfectly made.

The food is excellent. I had the escagot and salmon. So good. Nice sunny day out on the patio. It was quite noisy at times due to delivery trucks. Service was excellent. Overall, an excellent experience. I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. Good, fresh food and excellent pastries. Parking is difficult with only street parking, but give it a try anyway. You will be glad you did!
