Amazing dining experience on historical Louisiana grounds. The food is tasty and beautifully prepared. The restaurant has a great wine menu to please every wine taste. Enjoyable cuisine experience on the shores of the Mississippi River.

Our experience was nice. Love walking the grounds before and after to look at the pretty scenery. I didn’t love my scallops this time. I also didn’t love the seafood gumbo. I found them both a tad fishy. Wish I had gotten the beef salad. Bread and butter is always yummy. The red snapper special was very good. Drinks were nice and service was great also.

Our table had Beet salad, lasagna, pork chop, Asian ribs, shrimp and grits, and short ribs. All were excellent. The grounds are beautiful. Very clean. Turtle bar is a nice stop before the meal.

We were disappointed that our wedding anniversary wasn’t acknowledged by the hostess or our waitress. When we made our reservation we indicated it was our anniversary but we were seated at a six top table that had to be cleared off before we sat down. Not very romantic. Food was good.

My wife and I had a great dinner Monday night!! The crawfish pumpkin soup was amazing. The redfish was delicious. Filet was very good as well. Will be back. The Houmas grounds is by far the best grounds.

Great Food, had the most excellent Scallops and Saffron Cream Crab in a fried eggplant sandwich. It was fantastic, recommend both. The house is beautiful and in a lovely garden we strolled after lunch. I hope to return someday when visiting the area.

My family of four went for lunch on a Sunday morning. Lauren was our waitress,and she was friendly, and helpful. My son had the ribs ,and loved them . My husband raved over his lasagna. My steak was cooked perfectly! We will be back !

Brought friends from Atlanta for lunch and a tour of the grounds. They were impressed with the food and gardens! They were especially proud of the photographs they took of the live oaks! It made for a memorable afternoon.

Very underwhelmed. The Carriage House at Houma’s House plantation has been on my “must try” list for years and I was sadly disappointed. I made a reservation a week in advance and we were sat next to the kitchen doors, probably the loudest and busiest location in the restaurant. I ordered the salmon special, which was brought out to me very undercooked. When I told the waitress, Lauren, she scoffed and took it away to the kitchen without asking if I wanted something else or offering to get the manager. The same piece of salmon was brought back out to me what looked like it was thrown into the microwave. Again, no apologies. Other family members ordered the shrimp and grits, eggplant, and ribs. All lacking in flavor. The price was definitely not worth what was served to us. Given this is south Louisiana at a historic location, they need to do better with the customer service and quality of food.

We eat here a good bit and the noise is always loud as it’s one giant room. However, despite having a lot of people it seemed better this time. We enjoyed our meals and can’t recommend the Carriage house enough for great food. The ambiance is always amazing.

My husband and I ordered the Eggplant Napoleon and Blackened Blue Shrimp and grits. Both dishes were amazing. We highly recommend The Carriage House. The ambience and the staff were great, but the food was the cherry on top!

I couldn’t believe that we were actually dining in such a beautiful location! The gardens were heavenly and the dining room was gorgeous. Staff were all very friendly and went above and beyond to help some mobility-impaired members of our party move around the grounds.

The atmosphere use exquisite and the food is a unique combination of posh yet comfort food at the same time. I’m very glad we had dinner and stayed at the inn.

Overall it was great. I highly recommend making this a regular thing, not just a great meal, but the experience of an incredible garden and grounds that nothing else can beat. The Turtle bar is a must, they have most every type of high end alcohol that exists. The only improvement needed is the wait staff. There’s enough staff, they are simply inexperienced and young. Overall, still worth the experience.

Lauren was a great server and very knowledgeable. In fact every employee at Houmas House was excellent and knowledgeable! Thoroughly enjoyed it and we’ll return on our next trip thru LA.

Another fabulous visit to The Carriage House. Friendly staff, fabulous food and a nice selection of offerings makes for a terrific evening out. The only complaint is that the music was a little loud and interfered with conversation.

Celebrated anniversary there. Second visit and did not disappoint. Went for lunch instead of dinner to avoid traffic but menu was same and food was great. The scallop appetizer was perfectly cooked and delicious, the biscuits served were outstanding and the desserts were off the charts. I had a cannoli filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with praline and vanilla sauces and it was as good or better than it sounds.

Our dinner for 4 adults in the Carriage House was above and beyond! My brother and his wife joined us from New Orleans! Our redfish, eggplant, and steak were great! The cannoli n bread pudding was superb! Oh! The Caesar salad was excellent with the lettuce leaves coated with the dressing!
