The food is old style, heavy with lots of fat for flavor vs herbs and creativity The chowder was thick and pasty with strong bacon flavor Not dining for todays palette but the service was excellent.

It was loud to the point of interfering with conversation. I used to love the Seared Tuna because of the amazing sauces served with it, which have been removed from the dish.

I realize it was Mother’s Day, but it took 7 tries to get three bone-in shell steaks almost right. One was finally spot on medium, the other two was still marginal. At $68-72 per steak this is inexcusable for a renowned New York steak house. The tuna tartare was spectacular and the complimentary bread was great and the side were good and bad, but the steaks - yikes! The other positive was that our waiter, the other wait staff and the Assistant Manager were all extremely professional and very nice. We have been to the Capital Grill many times and in various cities and it is our favorite steak house but not on Mother’s Day.

The reviews didn’t lie about this restaurant. I had an amazing birthday dinner! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. I will definitely tell everyone about it and I’ll be going back again soon!

In a world of declining service, The Capital Grille shines ever brighter with an experience more outstanding than usual! My meal was timed perfectly, and I was checked in on regularly by my server and the staff. I ended up dining by myself but never felt alone. Kristina provided exceptional service and was even kind enough to notice I was wearing black pants, and looked for a black napkin so there wouldn’t be any transfer from the white napkin. Although there weren’t any, I appreciated the attention to detail. Thank you so much for another wonderful dining experience. 5 stars!!!

I have been a customer for many years and this is the first time the food was so disappointing. Lobster bisque was creamier than ever before and both myself and my friend got sick. The potatoes Au gratin were absolutely horrible and creamed spinach was left almost untouched. At least the lobster tails and sea bass were good to partially make up for the meal. This is unacceptable for a $300 dinner for 2 people. Service was impeccable

I had requested a quiet table and pumpernickel bread for our 1 pm reservation. I applaud management, the waiter , Stephen , and the chef(s) because all delivered perfectly. (I cannot say the same for the Chevy Chase CG, which often ignores such requests, unlike the other two in the DC metro area, unfortunately, it is the one near my home). CG does not generally serve pumpernickel bread at lunch but management read the request and timely arranged for warm pumpernickel bread to be served with our luncheon . They also searched for a quiet table to meet our needs. Our waiter, Stephen, was personable, helpful, attentive and never bothersome. We were all delighted with our food: the scallop special, tuna steak and salmon salad. A charming busboy, Es…… , cheerfully helped us several times. It was a lovely luncheon. Thank you Management, Stephen, E’s…. and chefs.

Wow!!!! Beyond happy with my service by our waiter Brian. They gave us roses and a card for our anniversary. They made us feel like an old friend celebrating with us. Our food was a 10/10!!!! We will definitely be back.

Fantastic service start to finish. Request for a booth in the back was accommodated and made for a perfect business lunch. Special lobster tail withdrawn butter was perfectly tender. Bone in dry aged ribeye was fantastic excellent waiter. Completely on top of things and made for a thoroughly enjoyable business lunch.

Dinner was excellent. Tried the creamed corn for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how tasty it was. I’m a frequent visitor to this CG location and always enjoy the service and ambiance.

We had a wonderful dinner last night with another couple. From Miles, the excellent bar tender, to the tuna and the rib eye steak, everything was excellent!

Excellent fast service, food was delicious I ordered the scallop dinner. We did have a laugh at the small scoop of ice cream for 12$. Overall great experience would go again. Enjoyed the whole atmosphere with the live music that wasn’t to loud.

Ilie was a fabulous server. Super professional & extremely friendly & personable. All the food was great — split a lobster salad & a steak Cobb salad & of course the truffle fries. Yummy!!

Had an exceptional experience at the Grille! We have a tradition of going there for my son’s birthday. The food, service and ambiance are always excellent year after year. They decorate the table festively, and bring a piece of flourless chocolate cake with Happy Birthday written in cocoa powder on the plate. Always a wonderful treat at the end of a wonderful meal. This year, for his 25th, we were truly touched by staff going out of their way to say happy birthday, and also enhancing their cake with glasses of champagne, and our sons favorite CG dessert, coconut cream pie (it is a must try!). It’s always a wonderful experience when we go there. This year they turned it up a notch and we are so thankful! We love CG!

The quality of the capital experience is consistently good. Our server, Bennett, was a nice young man who was genuinely attentive. Our lunch was delicious and well cooked, kisses to the chief managers made rounds to make sure everything met our expectations. Though this varies depending on the day and the bartender, the drinks weren't as strong but Capital won't let you down.

Good steaks, very good service. Our waiter gave us good recommendations for our orders. We received complimentary appetizer of lobster soup. And complimentary chocolate expresso tart with glasses of sparkling wine.

Our dinner at The Capital Grille was fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect...sophisticated, elegant, comfortable, and designed to accommodate pleasant conversation without having to raise one's voice to be heard. The staff were wonderful, patient, and caring in all areas...personal presentation, listening carefully, speaking in professionally-friendly tones, accommodating reasonable requests, delivering orders in an efficient manner and making the food visually attractive. One of our entrees was seafood and the other was beef. Both were made and delivered at the exactly correct temperature and level of "done-ness". The desserts were absolutely delicious as well. Our meals were perfect in taste and in volume. We celebrated a birthday at my table and the staff was generous in providing an unexpected and beautiful dessert made especially for our occasion. Our table consisted of good friends who hadn't seen each other in a long while, so our conversation was important to us. The staff respected our "space" and we never felt rushed or pressured. We were thrilled with the whole experience and felt that it was worth the price that we paid.
