Great food and service, very friendly staff. The menu isn’t massive but it was great for lunch and the guacamole made at the table was outstanding.

My husband and I gave this place a try since it's our first time in Edinburgh. The service was good and so we're the drinks. Overall we had a decent time. Our only complaint were the churros were not that tasty. Other then that, we would return again.

Very friendly service, food has gone up in price but wasn't piping hot on arrival and quality not as good as the old glory days of the basement. Was overcharged for kids meal (wasn't a problem to correct). I feel £6 for three, albeit very large, scoops of sorbet is excessive!

Online reviews convinced us to go. Fully booked from 7pm - good sign so went for the 530pm slot. We were tucked away in the back despite plenty of empty tables. Service was very slow. Asked if they had forgotten us after over 1hr wait, thereafter service was better. £30 for nachos and a burrito. It was ok…but it was nachos and a burrito!

Have dined here before and food was really good. However, although the food was still good, value for money and service was awful…..we were sitting there for 40 minutes before we even had our drinks on the table then we had to ask for our order to be taken. Ordered tacos which consisted of 3 on the plate, was probably the size of a starter for a full price dish. Couldn’t order two 2 of the sandwich option as only one left and one of the beers we wanted on the menu wasn’t available. We were barely finished when being asked to leave our table as the next booking had arrived. Worked out to around £45 a head including drinks and service charge, wouldn’t mind but the food alone didn’t justify the price. Very poor show.

Such a great place to meet friends and have fab margaritas with queso, guacamole and chips or more if you fancy it. The team are so lovely and always welcoming, if you haven’t been you’re missing out.

First time visiting for dinner on a Friday night. Was very busy - table not great as right in the centre of room which would be better suited for just drinks but had enough room to eat at. Margaritas were lovely and service great. Went for the famous guacamole at the table which was the best guacamole I have ever had. Drunken beans was also a winner. Then shared 3 tacos - all delicious and enough. Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely evening eating at The Basement. Great cocktails and yummy food. Staff were attentive, we would struggling to fault the service. Aim to be back to try other things on the menu.

Possibly Edinburgh's best kept secret? Lovely little restaurant. Staff were absolutely spot on. The food was delicious and fresh (can't get any fresher than making guacamole at your table). Excellent in every way. Thank you.
