Taxim, which is located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, features regionally-inspired Greek dishes paired with an all-Greek wine list. The stunning dining room is fitted with soaring 16-foot ceilings, travertine marble floors, dramatic Byzantine-style lamps and artwork, and the rooftop dining area lined with Greek flowering herbs.

The restaurant was chosen as one of of Chicago's Best New Restaurants in 2009/2010 by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Reader. Additionally, Taxim's housemade yogurt with young favas and lamb confit was selected as one of the Best Bites of 2009 by the Chicago Reader, the house-cured sardines were mentioned in Time Out Chicago's 2009 "100 Best Things We Ate (and drank) This Year" feature, and the wood-grilled octopus was selected as 2010's "Best New Dish" by Chicago magazine. Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.

We had a reservation and were able to pick our table right away on the patio. We were served water and no one came to take even our drink order after that. The staff kept passing us for other tables... it’s a smaller patio too so I don’t really understand how that was possible. No one ever checked in with us, let alone took our order. We decided to walk away after 30 minutes of being ignored. We actually saw another couple near our table leave as well…. Really unfortunate to lose many customers because they were not acknowledged. We ended up leaving and going to the Indian restaurant next door, got seated and served right away, and had a great night there.

We have seen lots of recommendations for Taxim and were excited to try it, as we love Greek food. We were extremely disappointed with our experience (and we did talk with the manager about it to provide feedback). The food was generally ok, but did not have the wow factor we were looking for. We had the lamb chops, which were cooked perfectly but were EXTREMELY bland. As though someone had forgotten to put even salt on it. My red wine was very, very warm and clearly came from a bottle that had been open for far too long (the waiter happily brought me a new, warm glass). The server was kind but the service overall was lacking -- we were never given menus for drinks other than wine and only provided one food menu for two of us. The food came out immediately but then we needed to wait quite a while for the check. Overall, it just wasn't the experience we had hoped for.

This is my second visit and was again impressed with the food. I think it is best Greek restaurant in Chicago. Exceptional selection with an amazing wine list. Great with 4-6 to share, but also was awesome with 2 of us. Had a little of everything and all were exceptional.

Great spot, the food is delicious! Service a little slow, but the ambience is great & the weather was perfect on the rooftop patio!

We had a great time trying this place in my neighborhood. Overall the food and service was terrific. Our small plates and entrees were flavorful, unique and delicious. Service was super friendly and helpful. My only negative was the auto 22% tip. We had some cocktails and 2 bottles of wine with dinner so our bill was going to be high. I didn’t appreciate having the 22% applied to the liquor! That’s why I scored low on value.

Took a minute to get a server - but the food was fantastic and decently priced! The entrees are large portions - we split the souvlaki and the arugula salad, okra, and spinach pastry, all incredible!
