L'historique Tartar Frigate est l'un des seuls restaurants en silex du XVIIIe siècle du comté de Kent. Reconnu comme l'un des meilleurs restaurants de fruits de mer, il offre une magnifique vue panoramique sur Viking Bay à Broadstairs. Si vous n'aimez pas les fruits de mer, vous pouvez toujours choisir un succulent plat traditionnel du monde entier de son grand menu. Au bar, vous trouverez un feu accueillant auprès duquel vous pourrez vous réchauffer. Pendant la semaine folklorique de Broadstairs, le Tartar Frigate devient un lieu important pour les festivités, et organise des concerts la journée ainsi que le soir. We had an exceptional experience at The Tartar Frigate. The restaurant was cosy with the perfect ambience. We had a beautiful view of the harbour too. The service was lovely and the food was out of this world! We looked at the menu in advance and finally chose what we wanted after much deliberation but that all changed when we got in and saw the specials board! Scallops for starters and the hake fillet on pak choi for mains were stunning. Will definitely come back here on our next visit to Broadstairs!

We absolutely loved our meal. We had whitebait starter then the steamed halibut - both delicious. The staff were excellent - helpful, friendly, interesting to chat to. I live quite a way away, but will be returning soon!

This venue is absolutely amazing, We’ve dined here before and knew what to expect. The upstairs seating area isn’t big, so you do have to book in advance. But the quality of food and service is unreal.

We very much enjoyed our visit; the food was excellent, with very generous portions. The only negative aspect was the very terse reception we had on arriving. We were ten minutes late, and I missed the phone call from the restaurant to check on our whereabouts, which was made about four minutes prior to our actual arrival. The manageress was very sour-faced and made a strong point of our misdemeanor. She cheered up later, thankfully, but it was a rather unfortunate beginning to what turned out to be a very nice evening. The young waitress was very pleasant and helpful and, despite the initial issue, we would definitely go back.

Really nice restaurant which seems to be run extremely well. Staff are all lovely and clearly know what they are doing as service is tip top. I just thought that £13.50 for two scallops as a starter was a bit pricey and battered fish and chips at £21 was pretty steep too.

We’ve been coming here for many years now and the experience has been consistent as always. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful understand their customer needs. The food was fantastic as always, so too the ambience. Obviously will be coming again.

The service staff were extremely pleasant, unfortunately the food was not as good as expected. Starter was fine however main courses were dry and tasteless, sautéed potatoes were roasted badly, in what I would imagine was the fryer being used for fish - completely inedible. Which is very disappointing as we were recommended to visit as a great restaurant.

Lovely 4 course Sunday lunch. Vegetable soup, choice of starters, roast dinner and dessert. Great attentive service.

Food and service was brilliant. Feels cosy and the upstairs restaurant area gives great views of Viking bay - even in the evening. Ladies working on restaurant floor were lovely and so attentive.

Had a great evening last Friday at the restaurant in Tartar Frigate. Firstly let me say that the staff are absolutely first class. Very attentive and helpful for me having food intolerances , went above and beyond to help me have a meal that I could manage. I would not hesitate in recommending this establishment. The food is just wonderful. Just superb. WIll be back next time in the area

The entire visit was a delight; the care taken by every member of staff to attend to every need and their faultless politeness was charming. The food was copious and extremely tasty and the drinks excellent. We were seated at a very comfortable spacious table near the window and left to take as long as we wished. The cost of the meal was much more realistic than we have encountered in many other places.

Some of the best seafood we have had locally (the skate wing in particular) with excellent and engaging service and a great view of Viking Bay from our table.

First visit on Valentine's day, beautifully decorated, made to feel very welcome by our host. Plenty of room to manoeuvre passed tables. Food absolutely amazing, we had soup for starters, I had fish pie, partner had steak, cooked to perfection, a special dessert made by the chef for Valentine's day. Lovely ambience. The 2 young waitresses were fairly new but did an amazing job, we tipped them generously, listening around every diner had a lovely evening and worth every penny.

On a busy Valentines Evening, both the meal and service were nothing short of exceptional. Having travelled from Essex, we are already planning our next trip. Bravo!!

I was surprised downstairs pub was very quiet, but then paid £8 something for half a lager shandy and a pint of beer I could see why. Restaurant upstairs was nice and warm and the service couldn't have been better. Quality food with decent portions.

Have been wanting to try the Tartre Friget for dinner for a long time. Last night we did. Sadly, shortly after we arrived the grill stopped working. These things happen and they were very apologetic. The grill was up and working around 20 minutes later. We ordered, the bread was lovely while we waited and the service was great. Prawn cocktail was good and oysters seemed okay. We also had a grilled prawn starter alongside the mains (whole sea bass). The prawns were very tough and the sea bass wasn’t great. The lemon posset and cheeseboard after dinner were amazing. Sadly, the next morning I woke with awful stomach pain and still suffering. I can only imagine it was the oysters or prawns. 😔 …and paid £200, for two of us, for the privilege. Won’t be returning.

Lovely restaurant, very attentive staff. Lovely fresh seafood and fish with very good portions. Ambiance was nice and relaxed and just an altogether lovely evening. Added bonus if you want to see some live music after your meal in the pub area below.

We had a lovely roast dinner at The Tartar Frigate on Sunday. Everything was very good with an excellent smooth service by Lemini and the team. We will be back!!
