always a fantastic time at Tam O’ Shanter and dining within a living LA legend never fails to impress. brought my mom and some family over for Mother’s Day and the food was impeccable as always (can’t ever go wrong with the prime rib and creamed corn!). our server, Derrick, was kind and attentive. excellent wine list and over 200 whiskies available. make sure to check their website for special tasting events!

Great Pinot Noir with Salmon in creamy Kale sauce w/barley, Duck Cassoulet and of course Cali cut Prime rib. All a delightful surprise for our first visit. Diane , our waitress was impeccable! She even got my super picky chef-mom the Duck Cassoulet without the blood sausage! I truly had the best Mother’s Day celebration we’ve ever had! Thank you Tam O’Shanter!

It has a great atmosphere but it’s very pricey. This is definitely a special occasions type of restaurant. Steak and prime rib is overpriced. Or maybe eat before and get some drinks here.

Came here for Mother's Day Brunch. The food is always on point. I wish they would've served the brunch up until the time advertised. I had a 2pm appointment and brunch was until 2:30 and they said no brunch was being served anymore. The Mother's day menu still had lots to choose from and we all had a great time. I've been coming for years and the food never disappoints.

We were looking forward to an upscale Mother's Day experience and dressed nice (website states Business Casual). A few were dressed nice, and many were in shorts/t-shirts. A few brought their dogs to the patio dining. Not the experience I had been anticipating. Menu is limited.

We love the Tam O Shanter and have always had a good experience and of course the food is always excellent. We took my mother in law for Mother's Day and sat down to a wonderful table. The only complaint we had was our waiter Mark did not have much of a personality. Also, it was hard to communicate because he chose to wear a mask. After 4 years now, wearing a mask is a choice and we felt uncomfortable with him wearing a mask and unable to understand him clearly. That coupled with his solemn demeanor, it did put a damper on our meal experience.

The famous Tam O'Shanter never disappoints, and never fails to please. It seemed appropriate that I try the Table 31 Cocktail while dining at Table 31! We dined for Brunch on Mother's Day and everyone was pleased with their scrumptious selections. I opted for something lighter this time, and had the Caesar Salad with Shrimp. Our server was attentive, polite, prompt, kind and knowledgeable. I love the ambiance here, that is the closest thing to a pub or restaurant in Scotland or England.

Honestly I was VERY disappointed in the Mother’s Day brunch - it was just not thought out. No fruit, nothing to make the morning special. REALLY disappointed - we had gone there before and it was excellent, 2024 sucked - LOL. However, we had marvelous service and of course you can’t beat the warmth of Tam O’ Shanter … you can do better Tam O’ Shanter and Lawry’s - you just can.

Food was really good and our waitress was wonderful. I made the reservation using OpenTable but by mistake made it for outdoor seating. I saw the outdoor seating icon but thought it only meant that the restaurant also had outdoor seating. It was not at all clear from my reservation that I would only be able to sit outside. Luckily our 7th guest had to work and was not able to join so the manager graciously found a table for us to sit inside. We had to sit inside due to family members having just had cancer removed and being unable to sit in the sun. Had I know that I could only have made a reservation for outdoor seating I would not have selected the restaurant.

We like the ambiance. The New York steak was ok not great. The Prime Rib was cooked well and very tender but needed more flavor. The winner was the baked garlic!

Service was slow. They did not have their act together. The server said that the kitchen was backed up. I ordered my filet mignon medium rare and I got well done and dried out. Some in our party got their meal when it was hot, from microwaving, others got theirs warm bordering on cold. My daughter’s hamburger was beyond well done and overcooked, my wife ordered the turkey dinner and it was very good as was the fish and chips my daughter in law had. Overall, it seems like you are paying for the ambience and 102 year tradition, but the food has slipped a bit.

Unfortunately, our visit wasn't what we had hoped it'd be! We booked a 1:45pm reservation, based on the fact that we had a 3.5 hour drive down, and thought that'd work best for our timing. Maybe it was our mistake for picking the last lunch reservation time slot (to which we arrived on time), maybe our server was having an off day, but our server made it very apparent that we needed to order fast. That alone isn't the worst, but the lack of service paired with the curt and short attitude we received, not friendly at all; we were given the vibe that we were a nuisance for just being there. Even at times, our server attempted to give us a smile, we saw the smile quickly drop to an unpleasant frown before they stepped away. Just an unpleasant experience. Food came out relatively fast and was pretty good, although our Scotch Rarebit seemed to have sat up in the window a little too long since it arrived with a congealed film at the top... When the food dropped (which was everything - starters and entrees at the same time - again, pushing the "get out quick" feeling) the server quickly left, so we weren't able to voice that we didn't have silverware or napkins, and that our prime rib was missing the (very specifically asked for at time of ordering) horseradish. The prime rib itself was good, but the sides were nothing worth noting. The golden star of the food was the French Onion Soup. While scolding hot, was definitely flavorful. Cocktails were 10/10. We tried to get out as quickly as we could, and overall wasn't worth the $150 (pre-tax) lunch bill for 2 adults and a kid. The ambiance itself is great. The cocktails were great. But I regret stopping in to dine.

Great food and great service. We had requested outdoor seating but when we arrived they said all seating is inside that day because of a private party outside.

Once again Tam O'Shanter did not disappoint. Prime rib was melt in your mouth good, french onion soup was awesome and a super large portion. Only knock for this visit was the service. Wait staff kept disappearing and had to ask others for items that staff kept forgetting to bring to the table.

Food items not back on menu “due to Covid” as we were told. Steaks not prepared as asked. Them took FOREVER to gett get a new meal replaced. Arrived just as all my other diners FINISHED! Terrible

We were seated right away, which was so helpful. Jill was wonderful! She suggested a delightful liquid refreshment called a blueberry fling! It was light, refreshing and not overly sweet. She nailed it! She was very sweet and thorough. We wanted for not. The food was cooked to perfection, as always. Our glasses were never empty and our leftovers had boxes ready and waiting. Everyone is so attentive and pleasant. Dinner at Tam is always a special time. Thank you ALL!

We sat outdoors and it was very windy and cold. In addition, the noise level from the traffic was high. Service was good, but it was difficult to enjoy our meal. We were told there were no tables indoors.

Was sat 30 minutes after our reservation at the only table outside that isn’t able to have a heater next to it. Service was fine. The bread is amazing but the food is pretty mediocre for the price that you end up paying. This was my second time here and we won’t be returning.

We came here for my husband's 40th birthday. We were looking for a place that was casual enough so that our elementary-aged kids would feel welcome, but still had a nice enough atmosphere to make it feel like a special occasion. This was perfect for us.

Took my dad for his 90th Birthday. Appreciated the history of the place and decorations in each room. Food and service was exceptional. We will definitely be back for special occasions as it is a bit pricey but so very tasty!!

I enjoyed the experience very much. From waiting at the bar for our table, the bartender was great and kind. Our waitress was sweet and took pictures of us near Walt’s booth, I believe a gentleman named Roberto(sorry it’s been a week and I can’t remember was so great to us and gave us a tour as well as some seasonings. I had a great time.

The Tam is a great place for lunch or a nice cocktail at the bar. Dinner is basically the same menu as lunch, which is why The Tam is great for lunch but a step less for dinner. Servers are friendly and helpful. Ambience is the best. I often skip sitting at a table and simply sit in the bar area, where Tony the Bartender is the best.

Returning to traditional fare and a well appointed 'Scottish' motif. We always enjoy our visits to the Tam O Shanter.

Funny kind of place. The building and decor are a little kitschy and old, but it's clearly been kept up and maintained. Ambience is very unique. If you like prime rib or whisky, this is your spot. The food is always top notch, prices are reasonable.

We've been fans for many years, yet they keep surprising us with great new menu additions. The smoked prime rib special was outstanding and the sea bass [one of the new menu items] was delicious as well. Service as always was stellar.

If you like old school steak houses like I do, then this is your place. It is scottish themed, and has been open for 102 years. I love it!

Outstanding prime rib dinner. Excellent wine list. Daughter had salmon and said it was really good. Very attentive service and food served quickly and done as requested. Cute kitchy interior. On-site self-parking for $8 if you get there early enough. Would like to return to try their lunch menu.
