Exquisite small bites and larger plates. Attentive but not obsequious wait staff. Casual venue and attire yet the diner feels pampered and special. Phenomenal, knowledgeable bar personnel. A bit pricy but worth it. Convenient to get to either by D Line (Newton Centre) or by car. Once you've been there, Sycamore will always be a place to which you want to return for a special occasion or simply for a memorable, delicious evening out.

Food was very salty and steak was undercooked. Wine menu limited. It just didn’t live up to the hype. Service couldn’t have been better though!

Good. Not very good or great. The host was also off. He just seemed a bit aloof when we came in and when we left there was no have a nice nice night or come again or thank you for coming or anything at all.

It’s a good place, but the maitre d is extremely rude. As much as I love the food, it makes me reconsider not going back there.

We were celebrating a birthday and looking for a good place near Newton. The menu looked promising and the reviews were good. In particular, we were looking for a varied menu with meat and vegetarian options. The four of us were all delighted with our meals. My husband enjoyed the steak frites - the triple cooked fries were delicious, although a bit too salty. My son loved the chicken dish and I enjoyed the mahi mahi curry dish. Our vegetarian daughter loved the falafel, but it would be great to have other vegetarian options on the menu. The service was outstanding, we never felt rushed and felt welcome from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Although the prices are high, the food was topnotch as was the service and ambiance. We will be back again, especially for a special occasion.

Wonderful dinner at Sycamore last night! I had the most exquisite mahi mahi dish that I’ve ever had. The wait staff was fabulous — recommended wines, attentive, but didn’t hover. His descriptions of the food were spot on. Highly recommend!

The most rewarding dining experience in Boston. Forget driving into town, who needs that when you can have a Michelin star experience in the burbs. The cuisine brings tears to my eyes it is that goood. The service is so good you don't even realize that the owner himself is right there in the thick of it with his team. Nothing parallels Sycamore. Not a damn thing.

Two dishes we ordered were excessively salty: the starter potato artichoke cake and the main cauliflower steak over a bed of veggies. The flavors of both dishes were excellent but ruined by too much salt. Never had this problem at sycamore before. ? new chef?

Innovative and delicious menu, not too fancy, unusual and very tasty. Perfect dinner with an old colleague. We have been meeting at Sycamore on occasion for several years. Always makes us happy.

We celebrated our anniversary at Sycamore last night. The waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and sweet. Every course was perfectly timed. The food was phenomenal. The restaurant reminded me of food that you would get in California - vegetable forward. We loved everything we had. Standouts were the Berkshire Pork Chop. Best pork shop I ever ate. The flavors all paired perfectly and it was cooked to perfection. The parsnip skordalia was also phenomenal. I could eat it everyday! Definitely going back!!

As always, Sycamore was OUTSTANDING. The service, the drinks, the ambiance and the food were perfect. Chef Dave is in a league of his own. Sycamore will always be my #1 choice for a night out

We had an amazing night at Sycamore. From the time we were greeted until the time we departed was nothing but wonderful. We enjoyed great cocktails and then ordered the mahi mahi and the cod cakes. Both were delicious. We will definitely be returning again!

Food was quite good but would have liked to see designation on food items indicating whether gluten-free. Very noisy, should add noise dampening to walls. No gluten-free bread, disappointment. Mexican chocolate sorbet had too much chili added, would have eased up on it and further should have warned of spice.

The Sycamore team did a beautiful job with pacing while I caught up with an old friend. Food was excellent- the duck breast was cooked so beautifully. Everyone who checked in was lovely and we were both feeling quite at home dining with you. Thank you again!

I am a "frequent flyer" at Sycamore but I was a bit disappointed with the seafood offerings on the current menu. I only eat seafood and crab cakes and mahi mahi are not the most appealing of seafood options. I was happy to see the duck board back and I hope that continues to be available. I also hope to see some other seafood options on the menu soon.

This is an excellent which we always enjoy and recommend highly. The service and food are both excellent. On this particular night, I was disappointed that they ran out of burgers” burger night“.

Sycamore is more than just a quintessential neighborhood gem. It is a destination-worthy pean to the power of teamwork, starting with an innovative chef, and extnding through a talented crew in the kitchen, a venerated bar/beverage manager, nimble servers, and gracious front-of-house management.

The BEST of Newton!! Highly recommend trying Sycamore. The menu is phenomenal and features fresh new variations frequently. I dine here several times a month, and the food is always top quality and the service is always excellent.

There is metered parking along Beacon Street and 1-2 hour parking on nearby side streets. There is also a public lot between Beacon Street and Langley Road. Most meters in the area shut off at 6:00pm.<br /><br />The private lots behind the restaurant and adjacent buildings are not Sycamore's and cars may be towed from these lots.
