Housed in the historic 8th St Marketplace, Solid Grill & Bar, focuses on local food, local beer & local wines. We feature eleven local beers on tap; a selection that changes based on the availability of the best offerings from the local brewers. The food is both classic and daring. The menu is wide enough to please any guest while narrow enough to ensure quality and freshness. Vaulted ceilings, brick arches, natural wood, and warm tones make Solid Grill and Bar the perfect dining getaway. The walls are decked with local art that has a distinctly Boise theme. Solid has two happy hours daily from four to six pm and ten to midnight with half priced drinks and a $1 off our unique appetizer menu. Solid stays open late! Serving dinner until midnight Sunday-Thursday & Friday and Saturday Solid stays up extra late serving full menu until 2 am in the morning. Food was good, parking was good, the atmosphere was so so and server could have been a little better. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. Just kind of average. Had to wait to get silverware and the food took a little too long. The waitress was nice. Overall I love that they take reservations and they had music outside which was a nice e touch. I will go back as the menu was diverse and it was a good value.

The dinner was delicious and we did a Valentines package and everything was presented very well. It was very busy there so we had to wait a little bit, but it was worth the wait and our server Ariana was really super sweet.

Arrived for our reservation and the place was not busy at all, so we definitely didn’t need to reserve a table. We got seated and saw our server when she took our order, when she dropped off our drinks and our food, and not again until we had to request our bill. It’s a good thing we didn’t want a second drink. Our food was terrible. My husband got the steak salad, requested medium rare, and the steak was super small and grey like it had been microwaved. I ordered the special of the day, fish and chips, and at 5:30 when we dined they didn’t have the special anymore. I then ordered the BLT redux sandwich. It’s was so extremely salty. With tip, our bill was over $90 for 2 drinks, an entree salad, and a sandwich, all of which was really subpar.

Everything was great. The only negative was it took about 15 minutes to get someone to come to our table when we arrived to even get our drinks ordered. We flagged down another wait staff person to find out what was going on. He eventually waited on us. Maybe confusion as to who had that table. We were there at 5:00 so not super busy yet. Food was fantastic!

We ordered our food, and the waitress came back to the table and told us that they had not thawed the chicken, so it was going to take a little longer. An hour later we got our food. No compensation offered and barely an apology. Then the food was marginal once it finally arrived.

Food and drinks were excellent. The prices were very reasonable and portion sizes were generous (the nachos, omg). Our group of four got there earlier than our reserved time but they seated us as quickly as they could. Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Decent downtown grille. I had a grain bowl that was very light on the grains and they forgot to put the Tempeh add on that I ordered. The server did remove the add on charge from the bill when I brought it to her attention.

We were on the patio…Great live music…Misters keeping us cool. Husband had gyros, son had BLT with tempeh instead of bacon, I had club sandwich. All the food was really good. Fries are great. Waiter was nice. The lavender lemon drop was super good! (I had two! Lol)

We were very disappointed at the service we received. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. We were seated immediately and given menus and water. 20 min later, we still had not seen our server. We had to go ask for someone to help us. The waitress apologized, and took our drink and food order. The drinks were a little slow to arrive, but not too terribly long. The waitress was rarely seen after that, and when she did come within our vicinity, did not check in on us or see if we needed more drinks. We had to go to the bar to ask for a second round of drinks. After an hour, we still did not have food. We were told the kitchen was slammed,but the restaurant was not busy. Others that arrived after us had received their meals. After an hour and a half,we left, never having received dinner. We had tickets to a show that we had to get to. On a good note, the gentleman singing and playing the guitar was great.

I had not been here since pre-covid and some things have changed on the menu. They no longer had the fried haloumi cheese appetizer that I loved on the menu so that was disappointing but I really enjoyed the pear & gorgonzola salad with grilled shrimp added. The devil's cooler drink was amazing! Service was good and so was the live singer.

The food and service was outstanding. We eat late so I was happy that we got a reservation at 9:45pm! We sat on the patio where they had live music. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

Service was terrible. Had a reservation for 6, didn’t get waters until after we ordered at 6:30, and was given plastic forks to eat food with. After one of our table members forks snapped in half, we were never given a new one after asking.

We have been to Solid many times in the past. It appeared to us that they might be phasing out their brunch service. They were not staffed for more than a few people and the food quality has dropped.

The service was terrible. The food was subpar. They sat us by a back door that folks kept coming in and out of on a very (15 degrees) cold night, despite the fact there were msg other open tables. Definitely won’t be going back and I do NOT recommend!

Understaffed like many places these days. Most of the staff on the front end were cold fish. Took several minutes before the bartender saw us. To seat us he walked quickly past a table, tossed menus on it and kept on walking. And he was the friendly one. The server was of average ability, but had zero interest in being friendly or appearing like he wanted to be there. Food was decent for the price. The shrimp and grits were very flavorful. Overall I could see why they are one of the few downtown Boise restaurants with plenty of tables available.

Great place for a Christmas Eve dinner with some friends. Foor and drinks were very good. Our waiter was dressed "festively" and was cheerful. We will go back again.

The atmosphere is quite nice and the prices are reasonable. Our group had mixed review about the food quality. The pear salad and kimchi fries were outstanding. The hamburger was quite good but the shrimp and grits were so greasy and overcooked as to be a waste of good food. The service was fine and the waiter was a great communicator about when our food would be arriving. Overall, a B- experience compared to other Boise restaurants.

The food was great, good place to grab a bite before a show at the knitting factory ( that's what my boyfriend and I did) the wait staff was amazing and the patio was a nice place to sit, eat and relax. If we come back to Boise we will definitely stop by again.

We weren’t fans. Mac n Cheese was more like fondue, but the shrimp n grits were good. The indoor radio plus live outdoor music made it hard to hear much. Shared bathrooms were dirty.

Food was good, not great. Wine and specialty drinks we had we not that good for the $. We were told wine (red blend) was local and good. It wasn’t. Ambiance and location was nice with downtown location and nice patio. Our server started off good but got progressively less enthused to serve us. Not sure what happened, maybe not quite enough staffing.

Completely rude staff made for a very unenjoyable experience. I get being short staffed but ignoring customers has nothing to do with a staff shortage.

We chose Solid to celebrate an engagement in our family. The primary reason was the good selection of vegan choices. Some of the dishes were spicer than expected, but overall we enjoyed everything from drinks and apps to the entrees. Our waitress was sharp and engaging and very gracious with our youngest diner (5). Definitely will be back to try more menu items!

I was really disappointed. I’ve eaten here before and had a good experience. They seated us near the back door and people kept entering and leaving through it allowing a very cold wind to enter. Even with our coats on we were cold, The food arrived and it was poor at best. Neither of us liked what we ordered (and we’ve had these dishes before). We ate the veggies on the plates and left the entrees. Waiter was competent but had no personality and really wasn’t friendly. This whole experience is a shame because Solid was one of our go-to places in the Bodo area.
