The setting is lovely but the food is average and the service is all over the place. More of a 24 hour hotel restaurant than nice dining experience. Fine but just fine.

modern "tourist" ambience but not in a bad way; interesting, modern asian fusion style food like pad thai, samosas, bao buns etc. clean sleek bar fixtures and tables and chairs. has an indoor/outdoor feel with large glass doors that open onto patio. reminds me a bit of hawaiian hotels i've been to, down to the tropical scenes playing on the tv monitors. had a couple of cocktails that were unique, and potent! friendly staff.

This company did not serve us at all. We were paid for valet and was never served our meal, even noticed that others were being served before us. This was the worst and embarrassing experience me and my fiancé have ever had in a restaurant and I would never recommend anyone dining here after being treated this way. EVER!

Incredible food. Cool atmosphere. I was a little confused with the staff. Some were dressed pretty casually and others formally. It was also kind of cold in the dining area as it’s partially open to the patio seating. A little bothered by how loud it got toward the end of our visit as a large group of people were hanging out in the lobby nearby.

Located inside a boutique hotel called Paradox, this restaurant is everything you want. Cool artwork everywhere, immaculate service, relaxed vibe, incredible food, and a good value. This place is visually so appealing and it's nice that the food matches the ambiance. Would definitely recommend and I will definitely be back!

I had higher expectations based on the description and an article I had read about the chef. Menu items all sounded intersting, but the actual food was way under-seasoned and rather flavorless all the way around, desert had clearly just been pulled from the freezer and was difficult to eat, service was very inattentive. Maybe it's because we were there late, but if the chef wants to become the first michelin star in Santa Cruz, it won't happen with food and service like this

The food was quite good but the service was extremely rushed. We ordered the prix fix for NYE w wine pairings and the next course would come out before we finished the prior course. At one point we had 3 glasses of wine each on the table bc they’d bring the next course pairing before we’d finished the prior. It was pretty disappointing for the smith we spent ($165/person).

It’s important to give yourself extra time when eating at this establishment. It’s a slow process even when not busy. The food is fine. It was nice to see the smoothie options. The price reflects an average amount for a hotel meal. Our experience reflected the breakfast time frame.

We were so grateful there was a cute restaurant open on Christmas night! Food was delish and our server was so sweet. Decor was bomb too! Loved this place.

Don't go on a holiday. The service was good but they were overwhelmed. Ran out of many items and substituted ingredients without informing us. Some in our party were happy with their meals and some were not. It's awkward when food is served and one plate is wrong and when it was sent back there wasn't a rush to fix it. Sooo, went hungry while the others finished their meal. Also, so loud you couldn't have a conversation. It would be better to separate the dining room from the bar and the front desk.

The remodel is beautiful and has a great vibe. Overall our food was very good but they had to substitute an item which is why they list a star. The wait staff was excellent but the kitchen got slammed as this was Xmas dinner. Can’t hold that against them so we’ll be back.

The food especially high quality and tasty with generally excellent service and lovely ambience, a nice addition and added variety to our Santa Cruz restaurant selection. If you haven't been there give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised and be supporting a local business.

The restaurant has widely spaced tables with decor reminiscent of a forest. The caesar salad was underdressed, just how I like it, with fresh lettuces, but didn't have much else in it. The fish in the king salmon entree was perfectly cooked, but the couscous was tasteless and the vegetables were sparse. The Pad Thai was very tasty and beautiful to look at with fresh red peppers, broccolini and mushrooms; not your traditional Pad Thai, but delicious.

The front of house team did a wonderful job saving a milestone birthday dinner for 10. We had called 2 weeks prior on the recommendation of our last server to ensure a wonderful evening with friends in from out of town, and pre-shared to the guests the incredible Bee’s Nest dessert. The phone staff shoo’d us away when we called, saying they serve parties of this size “all the time” and we should just come in. We had expressly asked about the wonderful Birds & Bees Nest dessert, since many in our party are vegan/raw, including our eldest guest who is healing from cancer on a raw low sugar vegan diet, and that dessert was the key driver for choosing this restaurant for the occasion. But alas, our server had to inform us during the evening that several selections were not available: the raw vegetable sushi appetizer, one of the mocktails was missing a key ingredient, two soups were served cold and… unbelievably the Birds & Bees Nest was completely unavailable…all of these on a Friday for a 6:45pm reservation. Our server, who had to pass all of this on to us, handled it as well as she could. She was kind, empathetic, and worked to salvage the rest of the meal, including partnering with her supervisor to serve our party a slew of complimentary alternative desserts and making other gracious concessions in an effort to put a positive ending on what would have otherwise been a disappointing experience. We appreciated her efforts to save the experience that had been a planned for months, and this review, if anything, is about her incredible service. But alas, next time we will call in to 1000% ensure certain amazing items on the menu are actually available, before we come in. Last call out to the bartender, two guests completed raved about the dirty martinis, the mocktails were superb, and we all hope this restaurant thrives!

The remodel is beautiful and the "outside" bar area is a covered area near the pool with fantastic ambiance. Our waitperson was fantastic and the food and drink great. Our party had a wonderful time and many of us will be back!

I had the garden chicken sandwich, it was alright. Wife had the pork bao buns and shortrib tacos, she loved them. Not too many options on the menu but they’re some pretty solid choices. Staff was awesome

Went here for a first date, so understandably nervous. All the staff and especially my waiter were extremely kind, patient, and friendly. They came often enough so we didn’t feel like we were forgotten but left us alone so we could talk. Would recommend this place to anyone, and I’d come back again.

We loved the appetizers! Though they were out of the brioche honeycomb bread (drats!) the dumplings, hummus (more like a salad with all the toppings, yum!) and especially the spring rolls, served sushi style, were scrumptious! As vegetarians we tried the Harvest Pasta and found it to be ok, we wanted more of a flavor profile or some sort of zing. Same for the Pad Thai, which didn’t have the traditional peanut flavor. But we did finish both. The cocktails were inventive and delicious! YUM. The dessert we went for was the incredible Birds and Bees nest and YES it delivered—both visually gorgeous and delicious. We look forward to going back!

We live in SC and went particularly for the “birds and bees” choc mousse dessert we had heard about. It was delicious. However, the FOOD was even MORE spectacular. I had the edamame small dumplings in broth - incredible. We had the salad rolls with a cashew sauce: delicious. My husband enjoyed the ribs over pineapple. But the star of the show was the (untraditional) Pad Thai. The flavors and textures were superb. Oh my. We can’r wait to return. We sat outside on the patio facing the pool. Lovely spot at sundown. (Service was good but slow, fortunately the food was beyond worth waiting for!)

We think there’s a lounge for waiters somewhere in the kitchen area 🤣 because they disappear. We had several meals at this motel restaurant and food was always good but service usually poor. First evening, after flying across the country and driving 2 hours to Santa Cruz, our waiter forgot to bring us cocktails. 15 minutes after ordering we had to ask another waiter for help bc ours had disappeared! Every time we checked in with the host before a meal, we were asked to wait (even though plenty of tables open). Then host would disappear. 3-5 minutes later a waitress would then ask if we’d been helped and she would show us to a table. Bizarre. Guess they’re all back there watching TV.

We're here off-season, and the restaurant was pretty empty. It's attached to a hotel, so my expectations were not super high. The entire staff exceeded those expectations and went beyond. Crystal's service was amazing, as was everyone's. Thank you for the lovely meal.

Went in with a group of 8. Easily set reservation online and made changes without messing it up. Service was great. The timing of service was great. The food was delicious! Our entire group was satisfied. We were there on March 8 before all the restrictions on social gatherings.
