Born in Milan to a renowned restaurant family, Chef/Owner Maurizio Michi has always had a passion for cooking.
This Northern Italian Restaurant features classics that include, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Veal Chop Emiliana, Fish Stew Viareggina, along with Steaks, Lamb Chops and grilled Sea Bass Branzino all of which are executed to perfection under his watchful eye.
Sofi also offers authentic Italian pastas that are prepared in house daily with the freshest ingredients in the market.
Bread, Focaccia and all of our desserts are also prepared daily.
some examples of the desserts include Panna Cotta, Chocolate Souffle, TiramiSu and Ricotta cheese cake.
The wine list is comprised mainly of wine from Italian vineyards with some California exceptions.

The space features 60 seats with a front patio that holds 30. This is Michi's first solo restaurant in Chicago, although he's a vet that was literally born in a kitchen in Italy. He owned a restaurant in New York City for five years before moving to Chicago.

First time visitor to Sofi although I have walked by several times. A very robust menu with appetizers, pasta, seafood, risotto and meat dishes. Scallop appetizer with pancetta and leeks very tender and flavorful. My wife ordered veal ravioli with Bolegnese. Full of flavor and I finished it for my wife as it was a large portion. I had Fettuccine Pescatora. The server recommended the pasta it as it was homemade. The assorted fish was excellent and the pasta delicious. I had to take 1/2 of it home. The wait staff was extremely knowledgeable on wine and helpful with recommendations. We will be back to try more of the menu.

Our meal & the service was fabulous. Grilled octopus was our starter, hubby ordered Sea Bass with/asparagus & I ordered Ossobuco with/polenta & an amazing gravy.

Dined before a show at the auditorium theater. Service was very good and timely. Cocktails, starters and pasta were all very good. Pistachio martini tasty and unique. Calamari and scallops were tender and flavorful. Lobster ravioli was fine. Great wine selections. Enjoyable evening.

The meatballs were not good. Tasted like frozen turkey meat balls. The service was slow and inattentive. The bucatini was very good. Bolognese was not bad, bread was cold like right out of the loaf. No good wine. Ricotta cheeses cake was yucky.

Sofi is one of the very best assets in Printers Row. I ate at another Italian restaurant north on Dearborn and was pretty disappointed with the meal I had in comparison. Sofi always delivers on quality ingredients, delicious meals and beautiful, attentive service. Kudos to the staff!

while the 'regular ' menu looked a little pricey, the early bird or 'happy hour' as they called it, served till 5:30, offered a nice 3-course for $42, very reasonable. Gratuity is included in this offer, so be aware. reliably good Italian, good service, and superior seafood offerings here. If someone is visiting wanting 'authentic Italian' this is a very good spot. 2nd visit, and I'm sure we'll be back ps.......nice-sized delicious cocktails!

What a lovely meal I shared with my daughter before attending a show at The Auditorium Theatre. We argued about who ordered the better entree, and the crème brûlée was the best I’ve ever had. Two glasses of Brunello made the night PERFECT! I will be back.

The food was delicious and incredibly fresh. We ate well and the portions were ample. The saltimbocca was my favorite. Fresh sage and perfectly sliced veal. The roasted potatoes were delicious. My husband ordered the osso buco which was also perfectly cooked with a lovely risotto on the side. Too bad we don’t live in Chicago! If so, we would eat here regularly. The staff was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. And we got to practice our Italian!

The short ribs and bruschetta was delicious but the Alfredo was bland. Our service was lacking. Our bill came to $160 with an automatic $28 gratuity fee added bring it to a total of $189.00 I didn’t feel the server deserved almost $30 tip considering he checked on us once, his coworkers actually had to help us. We would go back for the ribs and bruschetta.

Went there to have a nice Valentines Dinner with my Girlfriend. From the jump, the bread was bad, my old fashion had a big orange slice with the fruit still on it and the ice was probably from a bag, making up the majority of the drink. The grilled scarpoza we couldn’t finish, the cheese tasting like grease. My pasta looked grey and all the noodles were coagulated together, the sausage a pale white. Girlfriends pastas was loaded with way too much salt. For $200+ and a night of splurging/holiday, this wasn’t it.

Food is decent, service is terrible. We came on Valentine's Day, basically no service for our table at all. The server never came to our table and asked if we need anything more. When we left, I noticed the server gave other table rose as gift, but we did not have.
