Fish & chips at my local bar on N.C. was far better. Very expensive for what you actually get - I didn’t know “chips” were 90% of the meal. Wait staff was great. Food very “meh”

The food tasted great and our server was very nice but the amount of food you got for the price was pretty disappointing. It didn’t feel like it was worth the $160 I spent. Not to mention the head chef thinks serving cold apple pie is a good idea? Our server actually heated it up for us before bringing it out which was nice and very considerate. I would not recommend anyone I know to go there for food since it really wasn’t what I was hoping.

Dinner reservations at 615 on a Monday. Severely understaffed from the valet, to host stand, restaurant & bar. Ordered best bottle of Chardonnay on the menu: only bottle they had was corked (per the manager), 2nd best, nothing chilled. Accepted 3rd offer after 30+ minutes at least, so walked up to the bar and asked for a Modelo on draft (despite a tap, bottle only in a pint glass). Was going to eat dinner and preferred to take my first-time guest someplace else. It was embarrassing and not what I remembered. Staff was friendly!

Service was painfully slow. Kitchen forgot soup order. Food did not come out until 40 minutes after ordering. It took 20 minutes to even get our drink order in. Used to be a great place a long time ago but sadly we will not be back.

We love the Brown Palace & had our pre-concert supper at the Ship Tavern. Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere but the best part? Our waiter, Frank! He made my husband and I feel like the only people in the room! We so enjoyed our time here, because of Frank, the delicious food, good cocktails and because it's the Brown Plaza. Try it - you'll enjoy the experience!!

The Tavern, was one of my fav restaurants in Denver … their desserts are amazing . French Onion soup never disappoints. Unfortunately, the Premier Class of excellence have disappeared😱 Our main dishes were salty , non flavorful.. over cooked . Ugh 😩 do better bring back best in class!!!!!

Asked for a table in the corner. Since it appeared that they had PLENTY of open tables at the time of my reservation, this shouldn’t have been a problem, no doubt the hostess ignored this request, therefore no tables fit that description when we arrived. I also asked to be seated at a different table that the one our HOSTESS pointed out. The hostesses made a point to make me feel like an idiot for asking because the preferred table hadn’t been cleared. This isn’t my problem. The hostess could have had someone clear the table in less than 60 seconds. Our server however was great. The food was good. The prices and information on OpenTable did not match the actual prices at the restaurant. Not a big deal- except for those details are important- especially when open table says valet is free when it isn’t. I’m not 100% sure that the valet didn’t do a bamboozle and just made some extra money. I hope that’s not the case- but now that I’m thinking more about it I’m sure it was supposed to be free.

The best spot for a lunch meeting! Great choice of hearty meals but also soup and sandwich options which makes it a great place to meet on the fly for business or a lunch date with a friend. Great service, attentive too.

We had a wonderful dinner complete with Frank our waiter who remembered our friend Jack B. Weil. Perfect night except for the surprise parking fee. The web site says parking is complimentary for dinner but it wasn't it was discounted to $15.00 but still a surprise that changed the flavor of the evening. Catherine Comstock

Steak was cooked perfectly. Crab cake appetizer was amazing and we shared a delicious piece of chocolate cake. We’ve been celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Ship Tavern for years!

We had an enjoyable meal and drinks pre-show at the Ship's Tavern. The service and food were great! Best Fish in Chips according to my husband!! Our server Joe was very attentive and helpful.

The Brown Palace has always been my "go-to" with clients or associates. The Ship's Tavern has a grand history but needs to step up their game. The BLT had a lonely strip of bacon with a couple small "bits" and two thinly sliced tomatoes with one leaf of lettuce. The extra thick bread is too much - I set one side away each time I visit. For the $21 price it was disappointing. The service is always top notch, but the kitchen needs to return to what it was before the pandemic. The acoustics are also hard at times to hear during a business lunch. I wish Ellyngton's was back in operation.

I was glad to see that the ship had not changed since I was there last. I love the feeling. I was glad that I could get a prime rib. At noontime Time and it was as good as always. A glass of Pinot noir, selected by our waitress person was good. Butterscotch apple pie for dessert was delicious.

The restaurant seemed to be busier than the staff could handle. It was crowded and noisy making it difficult to understand the server or to carry on a conversation with my guest. The menu selections were overpriced.

Food very over priced and of fair quality. Note a $52 sirloin steak that was of fair quality and room temperature. A better steak could easily be found at a diner for less than 1/2 price. Asked for medium rare, received medium. Other diner, asked for medium rare burger and received a well cooked burger. Lighting of the bar: dark with variety of wattage lamps. Main lights over the bar not operating and created a dark uninviting bar. Bar always had a wonderful glow. I was told new management placed LED lamps in the over-lights which created an extremely bright environment; this resulted in removing the lights. Hence, a dark bar. Place incandescent lamps back in the overheads! The piano player, John, was the ambiance. Without him, the experience would have been abysmal! I have been visiting the Ship Tavern for nearly fifty years. Never have I found it to be so lacking. Current management should be replaced!

They gave me a very tiny portion of chicken strips that I had to send back. It was less than a single chicken breast. Didn’t really want to spend 25 dollars on a kids meals sized portion. Everything else was pretty good, but it was probably just a bit too expensive for the quality of food. It was good, but definitely not awesome.

I ordered the prime rib medium rare, and it was served a notch under medium-well. Because I didn't want my date to feel obligated to sit there while her food got cold waiting on me, I didn't say anything. It was Valentine's Day, and our belatedly made reservation was at 4:15. The restaurant reportedly was at capacity for the evening, and as prime rib is their specialty, there likely was a pretty good chance they would run out. Based on these factors and my restaurant/dining history, I'm not so sure the cut of meat that I was served was cooked that day. I've eaten a lot of prime rib lunches at fine restaurants that were discounted because they were from the previous night's rib, and my dinner had the same consistency, temperature and look of these lunch entrees. It is tough to warm-up a prime rib to medium-rare; they usually end up medium-well at best. On the flip side, our waiter was excellent, and the Brown Palace is a historic piece of art.
