Bayou des Familles, a lazy waterway home to many alligators, turtles, egrets and other wildlife, takes center stage as our restaurant’s design provides its diners with a natural picture show. It’s in this unique setting where friends and family unite to experience southern Louisiana charm and culture in its finest form. It’s an experience not to be soon forgotten.

The 15-mile drive from downtown New Orleans will take you through the Jean Lafitte National Park. You’ll arrive at Restaurant des Familles and park under moss-filled century-old oak trees. The restaurant’s Acadian-style architecture provides a glimpse of bayou life that once was.

Our menu features authentic representations of Cajun and Creole favorites such as Crawfish Etouffée, Seafood & Okra Gumbo, Seafood Platters and Turtle Soup. Our signature dish, Alligator Stuffed Mushrooms with Alligator Sauce Piquant, will tempt even the most timid diner.

This is one of our all time favorites for ANY occasion! The ambiance, the staff, the peacefulness, but ESPECIALLY the food it so worth the drive from anywhere in New Orleans Metro area! Don't miss out on their daily specials and save room for some pecan cobbler!

This is our all-time favorite restaurant ever! The setting, the food, the service, the ambiance - all INCREDIBLE! The owners are fabulous and have quite an interesting story behind them with this place. It's our go to for ALL our special occasions and sometimes just because!

Discovered this restaurant at Jean Lafitte Seafood festival sampling their shrimp remoulade and promptly booked reservations. Excellent food, ambiance and service. Eating great Cajun on the bayou watching gators cruise by is an experience.

Delightful experience. We keep coming back to this family restaurant over the years. Had our wedding in it a few years ago. The staff are all very polite.

Food was very good and service was impeccable. For a restaurant rather far from much else, it was exactly what our group of 6 needed. Would definitely recommend and return on our next trip.

The Westbank's hidden gem! The place is always consistent with their food quality. The ambiance is great, and the service is excellent. Love watching the wildlife while I enjoy good food. Don't miss Sunday Brunch.......

They did well for a busy holiday brunch. We reserved the standard seating and were seated in the high seating, and that was an incredible let down. Food was tasty, except for dessert. We ordered dessert at the beginning of the meal and at dessert time we were informed they were out of the selection. Substituted bread pudding and that was served cold. Minor things, but certainly call to be sure that they have your seating right.

Everything was wonderful, except for the Turtle soup. It was WAY TO SPICY. We should have sent it back.

All was wonderful! Skyler (server) was attentive. Food was best we've had during our trip. Clean, comfortable, great place to eat. Absolutely recommend.

Beautiful table by the window. Food arrived super quick. We were in and out in 45 minutes. Almost wished it was slower, to enjoy it more. All around good experience and a beautiful date night.

Gorgeous view of the bayou and the surprise visit from a raccoon was exciting to see. Alligator stuffed mushrooms and Onion rings for apps were AMAZING! Grey Goose Cosmo was delicious! Crab Cakes Lafitte, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and Loaded Potatoes Au Gratin did not disappoint either. Definitely on our list for repeat dinner dates!

Everything thing was delicious ribs,steak, boudin stuff chicken , unfortunately the shrimp Diane did not have any flavor so I recommend pretty much anything else on their menu. Delicious

Restaurant des Familles is me and my husband’s favorite place to celebrate holidays and special days. The food is delicious, the music is fun, and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. I absolutely love it and plan to return again and again!

It was a special occasion for us and the dining experience was phenomenal!! We sat by the window overlooking the bayou taking in the beautiful last remaining sunset. Our server was not only professional but very charming and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the Crabmeat Dip appetizer served with buttered French bread. The soft shell crab topped with crabmeat over angel hair pasta was delicious. The Shrimp Diane was delicious as well. Dessert was the Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream on top. Overall it was a wonderful birthday dinner that will be remembered always. Many pictures were taken to remember our experience. I recommend Restaurant des Familles..you will not be disappointed.

Food and service was very good, but a bit pricey. When making a reservation, it ask you for what occasion, I said birthday, but yall don't do any for occasion, so why even ask.

We had a reservation for 17 to celebrate a 50th anniversary. The hostess met us out in the parking lot to help carry our things and placed them on the table for us. The servers were very attentive and everything was delicious. The crab cake appetizer was the only thing we didn’t enjoy (the slaw smelled like vinegar) but everything else was delicious. We’ve been coming here for over 30 years and also celebrated my grandparents’ 50th there in 1994. Thank you for a wonderful celebration!

Great Food and Great Service. This is a must visit if your in the area and if your are not in the area, you can drive out here and take a swamp tour before you have a great dinner there. Awesome Soft Shell Crabs
