It was our first visit to RR Harlem and it was an enjoyable experience. We were greeted promptly upon our arrival and our reservations on Open Tae were honored immediately (as always). Upon entering the restaurant, we could tell we were going to like the vibe. The three-person band was fantastic and although a bit loud, it was very enjoyable. The service was ok, but our server was busy and he did what he could to fit us into his work. It’s important to note that he was very friendly and obviously, very experienced. I think he was just swamped. The food was excellent and the drinks were good as well. Again, overall, it was a nice dining experience and we will go back when we are in the Harlem area.

If you are ever in NYC, Red Rooster needs to be on your must try list. The food is wonderful, all the servers are fantastic, and the ambience of the restaurant is probably the best I’ve ever seen!

This was a great way to start the week. The service and food were excellent. I started off with the deviled eggs and enjoyed the well seasoned shrimp and super creamy grits as my entree. We were also entertained by a small band and three amazing vocalists. Who knew Mondays could be this good!?!

We were at Ginny’s Supper club downstairs at Red Rooster for the Sunday Gospel Brunch. The BEST way to spend Mother’s Day, given that I couldn’t be with my kids. My husband and I loved it! The food was great- fried chicken and mac n cheese with collard greens. And the concert was fantastic- those amazing voices! Tell the audience there’s mousse served at the end of the buffet dinner. A lovely surprise but we were full.

We had wonderful service and appetizers and 4/5 meals were great! Loved shrimp and grits and Jerk salmon. My husband said his chicken was dry.

Overall expereince was very good, however food came out a bit too fast!!! We were still eating our appetizers when the main course arrived, and all of the food items arrived before our drinks. The wait staff should pay more attention to when the food is delivered so that the diners can enjoy a more leisurely and enyoyable meal. It was not very crowded (there were lots of empty tables), so it is not as if there were people waiting to be seated. I have been to Red Rooster many times (I was born and grew up in Harlem), so I will certainly return again, but rather than order my food all at once, I will wait to order the next course when I am ready to eat it so that the food does not arrive at the table all at once.

Everything was great!! The shrimp and grits was amazing. I didn’t really care for the Sangria it was a lil too sweet for my liking. I also had the Pom in Paradise and loved it. Definitely will be back again

The food was incredible. The chicken was excellent as were the sides. The service was wonderful, helpful and cooperative even when I expanded the party from 2-3. I must have misread the website. I thought Sunday day was the live music but it was Sunday night and for me it was a little loud.

Amazing atmosphere. Unique, local art covers the walls. Music keeps the energy flowing, but doesn’t interrupt conversation. Fantastic food with Southern and African influences. The “Yes Chef” cocktail is a must. Great for locals and tourists…anyone looking for a great meal

We have wanted to go to a Marcus Samuelson restaurant for so long and this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. The restaurant is decorated with wonderful history. Our server was friendly and gave us great tips of what to have. We had to get a piece of the hot honey chicken. Fantastic along with everything else we had….deviled eggs, cornbread, mac and greens, lobster roll with collards.

I was in NY for work and wanted to head to Harlem for dinner. Red Rooster was recommended so my friend and I headed over there. We were super casual though as we were walking around Manhattan site seeing. While the venue might not require fancy dressing, I felt underdressed. But it was all good. The food and service were awesome. Should I ever return to NY I will definitely head back to Red Rooster.

Fried chicken is dry and quite bad, had no seasoning. Shrimp and grits were ok. Ambience is not bad. Even though its not terribly expensive, it isn't worth it's price. I would not go back.

Food was good; server was very good but took a few minutes to take order after we were seated. Loved the ambiance… wing appetizer and cornbread were delicious. Bucatini Piccadilly was very good….very hearty portion for lunch.

We were late. I contacted the restaurant, and they were able to accommodate us. Everyone from the hostess to the waite staff was not only professional but very pleasant. There was live music. The food was phenomenal.

We loved Red Rooster! The ambiance and service were great with the whole team working together. We had the deviled eggs with hummus and it was a nice treat. The yardbird chicken was hands down the best chicken we’ve had in a while. Moist and crispy with tons of flavor. We had the catfish and the jerk salmon bowl and both were great. The black eyed peas with the catfish were so creamy and flavorful. My salmon was perfectly cooked, and the grains had tons of texture and some punch from the peppers. Couldn’t get dessert-way too full!

I’m a foodie and was not impressed with the food or presentation. We had house salad with jerk salmon, grits, and catfish. The only thing that was good were the grits. I’m originally from Chicago, I now reside in TN, and I travel all over. I know good food and this was not it. For the price, I was expecting something really good, but it was not. I will not be back and save your money.

The food was mid( mediocre) everything needed a bit more seasoning. The service and live music on a Monday evening made the experience top tier.

OMG! Our whole experience at Red Rooster Harlem on April 21 was fabulous. We arrived 90 minutes early for our 8 PM reservation, yet the staff was very accommodating. The bartenders suggested perfect cocktails (“Yes, Chef” and “One in a Melon” were favs) and snacks (their deviled eggs are not to be missed!). Our waiter was wonderful and made delicious menu suggestions - the cornbread, crab cakes, shrimp & grits, fried chicken and everything else (chef’s kiss). The atmosphere was convivial, warm and inviting. And they had great live music! A perfect night. This was our first time visiting but it absolutely won’t be our last. Thank you Red Rooster Harlem!
