Red Gravy offers upscale casual modern Italian fare.
Chef/Owner Eric Brenner spent his first decade in the industry inside Italian kitchens. Talking up St. Louis' wide-ranging Italian eatery scene, which gets as specific as regional specialties, he says he's wanted to have a place like this since he was 18.
"We're going to start very simple and accessible," he says, "we'll play to the crowd and start a dialogue, then grow the menu with community input."
"Simple," includes dishes like his tomato bisque, with which only has five ingredients. "It's all about the perfect balance. And that gets back to the essence of good Italian food: quality ingredients, very few, in perfect balance." Other examples include his St. Louis-style, thin-crust pizza, best compared to a flat-bread.

Always a good experience here. The appetizers were wonderful, my pasta dish was very flavorful, excellent wine and dessert list. This place is a great value and friendly service. Would recommend.

Nothing to write home about-good or bad. The restaurant is set up nicely. The napkins look like bar rags. The Caprese salad was over salted. The Carbonara’s main flavor was pepper. It’s a relaxed atmosphere save for the hustle of servers. I’ve had better (Piatto’s OKC) and much worse (think Olive Garden).

May have just been an off night. I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca and was REALLY looking forward to trying this. Unfortunately the veal and prosciutto were quite well done; dry and hard to cut. A thin square of cheese was melted on the top and was also hardened. The best part of the dish was the butternut risotto which was tasty but don’t know that it complements the dish well. Our server Paige was delightful. Note we had waited some 40 minutes for our meal and had a show to catch so did not mention anything to her (my friend ordered the scallops and barely touched her meal. The scallops were “gritty”; much of the garnish, bitter. Another friend was thrilled with the butternut ravioli she ordered. Was just not at all the standard I have enjoyed and come to expect from Red Gravy. Hoping it was a one time thing and will be back for another try.

Great food! A bit understaffed so service suffered. Cold food and long waits. I would give it a second try based on the quality of the food.

The veal I had here might be the best I’ve ever had. It is a very nice restaurant with good service and a nice atmosphere.

Amazing dinner for date night! We had the arancini appetizers, two great cocktails, a fresh salad, and the fettuccini alfredo which is the best I’ve had in a very long time! Great, fast service!

Our server Gracie was awesome. The garlic bread and ravioli were great. The St Louis style pizza is amazing and my GF loved her Alfredo. The tomato bisque was wildly delicious. Would definitely go back.

Old Willy salad. Meat ball sandwich no sides. Meat balls on dry bread. We were at a table by the window and a guy spent 15 minutes putting up a screen. We were one of three tables occupied for lunch. Do not eat here!
