This is a great restaurant for a special occasion as its in a beautiful hotel and location. The food is nice and the ambience is elegant too. That being said I do think that the best part of dining here is to have a window seat view, so its a bit disappointing when you arrive and they aren't available. I feel this is something that should be communicated at time of booking.

During the reservation process, I sent a simple message indicating I was going to "Pop The Question" and requested a window seat, jokingly adding, "I bet you never get a request for a window seat." I expected nothing to come of it. We arrived early expecting to wait in the bar but were seated immediately at a prime window spot with a spectacular view. Our server, Dean, was exceptional—calm, sophisticated, elegant, professional, and attentive, more like a butler than a server. The food was amazing. I had Lobster & Crab Enchiladas, and she had Grilled Spanish Octopus. We started with Piloncillo Shrimp, recommended by Dean, which was outstanding. All of the food was. Nervous about the proposal, and without a real plan, I excused myself to visit the restroom. When I exited, Dean was there, 10 feet away asking, "Would you like me to help you?" I was surprised but managed to say, "Yes?" He asked if I had the ring, and I handed him the box. He asked if I had my phone, which I had accidentally left in the car, so Dean said, "Let me see what I can do," and laid out a plan to present the ring and have it filmed by one of his colleagues. He said: "Give me a few minutes, and when you're ready, give me the sign. A few minutes later, I nodded toward Dean, and he brought a plate with "Will you marry me?" in a beautiful chocolate cursive, with the open ring box nestled in rose petals under a lovely glass dome. I was gob smacked, and my now fiancée was equally astonished. Dean set it down, removed the dome elegantly, and stepped back. I got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. Her eyes welled with tears, and she said yes. I slipped the ring on her finger, and she leaned in to kiss me. As our lips touched, the crowd went wild with applause and shouts of joy. Dean's colleague captured the entire moment on video, preserving it forever. Needless to say, if I could give 500 stars, I would, and Dean definitely deserves a huge raise.

I asked to speak with a manager I made a reservation days in advance, requesting a window upon arrival we were told not once but twice, and not so pleasant manner that there were no windows available yet he sat for over two hours in front of two open tables by the window that were never seated Another hostess even came to tell us that we were gonna be given the window table which sort of was putting salt in a wound. We just didn’t understand why they were kept open for us to not enjoy the entire time over our three course meal with my fiancé and I trying to scope out wedding venues this was not the most pleasant experience and the hostess even indicated that we should’ve been sat in them because they were not being occupied so I’m just wondering why that Place and no one has been able to explain this to me

The Raya never disappoints. The service is outstanding, food is delicious and of course the view is amazing! We were there for a lunch wedding celebration and the staff made the day really special and memorable for the bride and groom! Thank you Ritz Carlton!

I was not 100% sure Raya at night was going to be romantic enough for a wedding anniversary dinner with my husband, since you sont have the amazing view of the ocean, its just dark, but luckily I was wrong, and it was all thanks to out server Dean, he made our dinner special and was so attentive, we enjoyed our dinner and the great selection of wines was impressive. We arrived early and decided to have a drink at their bar and the drinks were strong, so they are worth the price, and our bartender was amazing, sadly i didint get her name. Unfortunaly we felt the hostess was not very efficient, we were seated 15 min after our reservation time, only after my husband checked with them again after waiting for a while. But that is not worth removing a star from our experience since we had a great time.

The service level has really deteriorated. It's a shame. We've shared many memorable occasions at this beautiful property and have been coming here for about 35 years but we won't be having dinner there until something changes. It started when we pulled up to the valet and waited for a few minutes for someone to greet us but eventually, because no one showed up, we just got out of the car and that's when the valet showed up. Then when we approached the hostess, at the exact time of our reservation, and were told that they had no reservation for us. I showed her the automated email message reminders I had received on my phone. It took them more than 5 minutes to figure out that they gave our table to another party of 4 (Our reservation was for 6 people). She was confused because the other reservation was under a gentleman with the same first name. After about 10 minutes of waiting for them to set up another table, they seated us and offered a complimentary round of champagne for the inconvenience. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu but also very scarce. We didn't see her very often and usually dialogued with the busboy with any questions we had. The food servers were confused with who ordered which dish and the wine arrived when most of us were half finished with our meals. And the meals were not of the caliber that we're used to with this restaurant. I ordered the scallops which came with only sauce. Most restaurants will serve that dish on a bed of something. No one was very impressed with their meal. A few minutes after we paid the check, we decided to have some after-dinner drinks but it took almost 10 minutes for someone to find our waitress. I assume this place has new management because the staff is not up to the level we've experienced here before.

Floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows of the ocean served as the most beautiful backdrop for our anniversary. There was an incredible classical guitarist who set the scene. My boyfriend has celiac and they had a wonderful array of gluten free options. Our favorite dish was the seafood enchiladas, which had a slight yet delicious kick. Excited to try their branzino next time! The caesar was okay, and the wagyu tartare was good but not memorable. The creme brulee was perfectly delectable with just the right amount of sweetness and richness. Recently cut out alcohol so I can't speak to their drinks. If you want to make a statement, come to the Raya, you won't be disappointed.

A great place to eat while you have a view of the ocean . Food was delicious the salmon superb but a little expensive for the small portion of the fish you get . The hamburger was amazing highly recommend it.

Salty food. Tuna Tatar was tasteless The lobster roll had virtually no lobster meat, the eggs Benedict was just ok, a 4 course meal was too much to eat. plus they asked for a $9 surcharge over the price fixed Sunday brunch charge of $75 per person. Oh and they were out of the best desert. Been there many times and it seems like it’s hot or miss, maybe they have issues with the chefs. They were gracious enough to attend to our issues which was appreciated.

RAYA is terrific. We wanted a memorable meal as a celebration and definitely was not disappointed On the other hand Open Table was terrible. Could not text them. Make a modification or even complete some of the app functions. Kept getting Oops Sorry messages or redirects errors.

For a hotel restaurant this is one of the best in Orange County! A great service, good food, and spectacular views! What was ‘off’ last night was the restaurant management not following my specific directions upon arrival on payment! I made the reservation for celebrating a friend’s birthday, I arrived 15 minutes early, I told the ‘floor manager’ and seating staff that I was to pay the check. Apparently the friend’s husband instructed the staff otherwise after their arrival and despite my efforts the check was given to the friend’s husband! That was not okay in my book!

The food was heavy and understated. Typically zucchini flowers are light, theirs were not. The sauces on all the food was gummy not silky as you would expect in a fine dining restaurant.

Great view of the ocean. The food was really good. Very interesting menu although it was short. Very good service. People were very attentive. We’ve gone there a few times for special occasions and it’s always been good. We will go again.

Samantha was excellent. Musician was very enjoyable. Service was top notch. Food was very tasty. Restaurant was not a clean as it should have been. However, there was food mess on the floor, silverware spotty, glasses spotty, chairs with crumbs on the seats. First impression was not that good with these issues.

Chef Irving absolutely nailed it. The menu is very well thought out and takes you on a journey. Definitely a food experience. Service was impeccable and you can’t beat the view! Highly recommend.

Celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary. We didn't book for a window table but was gladly surprised to be seated on one. The staff were all very pleasant and our server made it very special for us. We had a lovely time. Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful experience while dining at RAYA for dinner. The views are AMAZING at sunset and very romantic. I had the whole Branzino as my entree and it was delicious! No crumbs of food were left on the plate.

Perfect OC coastal dining. Lunch began with exceptionally attentive valet parking with the unexpected surprise of a very special lunch valet parking rate. Raya is well situated in the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel - just off the lobby with sweeping views of the Pacific. Fresh, innovative menu, well priced and executed flawlessly. We ordered the lobster roll, fish tacos, prawns and Caesar salad. All outstanding. (In fact, the lobster roll may be the best we've had -- anywhere.) And Raya even made a simple ice tea something memorable. Service staff were attentive, personable and professional. Located in the Ritz Carlton we had expected a nice luncheon -- but Raya exceeded our expectations in every way. That doesn't happen very often. Accolades!

Sat next to a table with the worst manners. The lady was so loud and obnoxious the entire time. In addition, she started a FaceTime call and propped her phone up and continued to indulge in the loudest conversation. Nobody from management approached her. Other tables seated next to her were just appalled.
