South Texas Ice House, "Texas Cuisine" Products from the Texas Gulf to the Texas Hill Country.

"The huge snake logo on the outside of an otherwise nondescript building -- created by Bob "Daddy-O" Wade, best known for the oversize boots that front San Antonio's North Star Mall -- is your first hint that this place might be a bit, well, different. Inside, cowboy kitsch, 1950s diner decor, and Mexican folk art mingle, as do workers from the nearby county offices, local movers and shakers, and anyone else looking for terrific food that, like the decor, defies easy categorization.

Call it South Texas gourmet. You can really taste the chipotle chilies in the tartar sauce that comes with some of the best crispy oysters this side of the Mason-Dixon Line, and the Gulf fish tacos are gussied up with chili lime aioli and Tabasco jalapeño onions. You get the idea -- lots of spicy dishes."

It was the first time my party of 9 experienced the Ranch 616 brunch and they did not disappoint! We celebrated Mother's Day and made reservations a couple of weeks in advanced and were seated promptly on their outdoor patio. Their live music was awesome with some acoustic guitarist providing a lively yet not rowdy ambiance. Our server was very attentive and even offered complimentary mimosas for the ladies! The food was really good, however my only constructive feedback would be that it's pretty pricey for the portions. I hardly ever finish my plate at restaurants these days and take home leftovers but here, I scarfed my whole plate down. Our table of 9 tried the Maria appetizer, Ranch Breakfast plate, Divorced Chilaquiles, Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast, French Toast and Biscuits and Gravy... everyone agreed that it was all delicious. I'd highly recommend their Maria appetizer, all of the dips, veggie sticks and chips were delicious. The Mamas at the table thoroughly enjoyed their Mother's Day Brunch as did the rest of the family. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Service was impeccable. Food was good. Outdoor dining comes with a DJ so depending on your occasion can be fun or a barrier to conversation. An Austin staple if you haven’t been here.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service at ranch 616. My grandparents are extremely picky and had no complaints!! I knew that the energy was great but was so happy that the food and service were as well

We loved to and had a nice time - great outdoor space and fun indoor design - Had maize crusted trout, Paloma’s and flourless chocolate cake dessert and everything was delicious. Our server was nice and knowledgeable and made great recommendations.

As a local I have been coming to ranch 616 for years and it never disapoints!!! I have brought people from all around who love the food and experience! Food and staff are always amazing! Tonight we had Danielle C and she was amazing! Very attentive and patient. Made sure everyone had a great time whether a local or out of towner! As the home of the ranch water, I think it would be awesome to see the restaurant partner with local vendors! As someone who networks with restaurants and local markets I think Ranch 616 has a great opportunity- especially with being the home of the ranch water! There are soo many local artist who do things with topo chico bottles! Be a cool partnership and great way to bring more locals back in!

I came here for a dinner during my sister's bachelorette party and it was great! the interior is so fun and funky, and the food is good for the value. originally we were seated outside and it was forecast to rain, so i worked with the staff here to move our party inside. they were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate us. I will definitely come back next time I am in austin!

Bigger than expected portions! The calamari- oysters and lamb appetizers were delicious- highly recommend! We also had the wedge salad and redfish- and don’t forget the ranch water (strong). It was one of our best meals in Austin! The wait staff was fun friendly and super efficient- great experience!

The food here is consistently great. Their shrimp ceviche is really delicious and I have eaten it several times. Last night my friend and I had the fried frog legs, ceviche, and quail. The roasted quail was a home run, served with grilled vegetables and great seasoning. It was all good. The frog legs were on a bed of mashed potatoes and the portion was gigantic. No small plates coming out of that kitchen! I would really recommend for everyone, and to bring out of towners to get a real taste of old Texanna. Fun stuff live on the weekends for brunch. Make reservations!

Super fun , thank goodness we had a reservation as this place is THE spot! We went for dinner before theatre and sat outside at the BEST table . Dimitri took great care of us & our salads were big & super delish . The design of the patio is super cool with neon tipped snake .

Great meal, great service. Was disappointed to find out day of that our confirmed indoor table had been pushed outside with potential thunderstorms, to accommodate a group function. Otherwise a nice experience.

Off time so they were not very busy. We really enjoyed our food. The only real negative I heard was the bloody Mary was just not good after about half way through it.

I had the pan-fried snapper with succulent shrimp and savory grits. The snapper’s delicate flavor, paired with the robust taste of shrimp, created a symphony of flavors, complemented by the rich texture of perfectly cooked grits. I highly recommend this dish.

Incredible food, super fun atmosphere. We had the Maria’s trio dip and the tampequenia Waiter was AMAZING, they even made me an NA margarita absolutely 10/10 can’t wait to go back!

Excellent Service! The food was meh - with the exception of the jalapeño popper dip which was delicious! The amount of food for the cost was not great. If I were to go back, it would be just for drinks and I’d want to sit outside - as that looks like a really nice space!

Ranch 616 unfortunately isn't what it once was. Food and drinks are good, but not what they once were. The hostess was great, friendly, and stepped in to help with our table. But, our server was bad to very bad as she got 2x of our orders wrong and essentially never checked in; we had to wait +10 minutes to get additional drinks, ultimately, the hostess/other server got them for us, and then we had to wait +10 minutes to get our check (again the other server ultimately did it for us).

Really cute place. Great service and delicious food. We visit a Saturday night and it seemed to be packed with bachelorette parties and a very party-atmosphere. It was loud. If that’s the scene you’re looking for, I’d say you’ll love this place.

The food was AMAZING! Loved the wild boar appetizer and the venison frito pie to die for. Highly recommend!

I had the steak salad. Dressing was great, steak was way below average. Everyone else’s food looked good. We had a very attentive waitress. And the bus boy was very nice.
