The staff and dining room were lovely, and the shrimp appetizer was good. However, the chickpea main had carrots that were either from the can or frozen and lacked flavor, The cut of ribeye was subpar for the price of $58. The pasta was not at all fresh. There were four of us eating together and none of us was satisfied with our meals and all felt that the products used were not fresh/locally sourced. The meal was pricey for what it was. That said, the hosts in the lobby for the hotel were very sweet and thoughtful.

The atmosphere was very nice, the dinner menu was rather limited. Portions were small food taste was OK. Service was very good. Beer selection was good.

It’s a little odd for a Berkeley inhabitant because it was so empty. A good place for long conversations. The salmon was excellent

We were disappointed with the food. The best part of our meal was the salad with the goat cheese. We each had a rigatoni main course. My vegetarian one had no sauce and tasted like black pepper. My husband had the meat version and he felt it was a small potion and it was just okay. There was no Parmesan cheese provided. In other restaurants the server often grated the cheese at the table. We shared the chocolate mousse which was the smallest dessert we have ever seen. Our server was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday night and I think I know why. The food is not great and the prices are high.

This beautiful space SHOULD have a top notch restaurant catering to both hotel guests and food-jaded locals. We’ve now tried this place for both breakfast and dinner and it continues to disappoint. Avocado toast and a French toast at a nice restaurant in Berkeley both depend on the use of high quality bread. Both used cheap, boring white bread. Avocados were thin sliced and unseasoned—the Zataar and olive oil left helplessly UNDER the toast, so dipping the bottom is the only option. Servers were nice, but once again the restaurant was near empty on Xmas day at a time when most everything else was closed. Should have had a captive audience of hotel guests and locals. This does not bode well.

This was the only place we could get a reservation at Christmas Eve. We thought that, being in a hotel, Zino's atmosphere at least would be nice. But there was a cold wind (not just a breeze) blowing through the cavernous room, and the personnel apologized, but could do nothing about it. A large number of the tables were empty, so we didn't even have fellow diners to warm up and enliven the place. I had the whole Dorade fish--it was very large, but disappointingly overcooked and dry. My companion said her Penne was quite good.

The appetizer, salad, and entree were delivered simultaneously. Not sure why this happened, but it's difficult to eat an "appetizer" when all of the other food is also sitting there.

Thanksgiving spread was good. Only disappointing experience was that a “kids buffet spread” was listed on the menu. It was the reason I booked as I didn’t want to waste money on food my 6 y/o wouldn’t eat. When I asked where kids spread was located, I was told the kids have access to all the regular buffet items, but there was no extra dishes for them. They did ask the chef if they could make some thing, which the chef did. But it felt like they were doing me a favor and going out of their way to do this, when the menu, explicitly states, those items are supposed to be there. Other than that experience, everything was fine

Really small brunch menu, old potatoes overcooked, eggs needed to be sent back besides emphasizing repeatedly that I wanted them well done. Overpriced poor quality food in a very pretty space.

Large cavernous room. Tables spread throughout. Service was not attentive and slow. Food was tasty but not hot. Also served without serving utensils. I would not recommend this place. My companion ordered a martini. It was served in a rocks glass with no ice and a lime wedge on the rim...

Good service. The food was nothing special, though; most home cooks could do a better job on the dishes I saw, at least. One thing is clear: the food is way over priced for what you get. Also the place advertises Mediterranean food, which this was not.

We sat at the bar for a cocktail waiting for our table. Rachael made my wife a great martini and recommended the lamb, which we had. It was delicious as was the calamari that came with plenty of tentacles and a delicious sauce. The tomato / pomegranate salad was interesting, but was a bit over powered by nutmeg. The tables are far enough apart that you can have an intimate conversation without being overheard or hearing others. And the service was attentive.

The food was delicious, but the experience was marred by serious timing issues. The appetizers were served before the cocktail and our entrees were sitting at the computer station table while we were still dipping our flatbread into our tasty three spreads. Our water was filled once on request. No one ever circled back with a pitcher. Service was warm, but not terribly competent.

We ordered a fatuosh salad and the vegetable tagine and shared. Both were delicious, delicately flavored and a perfect light dinner before a play. At first we were taken aback by the huge ceilings and hotel setting, but the dining room was comfortable, the service attentive and the atmosphere sophisticated and quiet.

Excellent food prep. BUT, Sunday evening and the dining room was almost empty, ... Unfortunately, at a dining table it took 10 minutes to get a beer, and longer for my wife's Hendricks martini. . A few more patrons at the bar. I think the bartenders ignore waitress orders to max their own tips.

We went in for mother’s day and the whole experience was disappointing. We were seated next to the air condition and had to keep our jackets on. They apparently held a bar mizwa next door with only a curtain to close inbetween and we needed to get close together to be able to have a conversation. It was loud. The bar service was very slow. We waited forever for our drinks. The appetizers came quickly and were actually delightful. The main dishes were mediocre at best. Pasta undercooked and chewy, the half chicken completely dried out and no seasoning on it. It sat on a tiny bed of vegetables and was by no means enough to satisfy our hunger. The gelato was good—but why we couldn’t choose different flavors in one bowl was beyond me. We ended up ordering three bowls with one flavor in each bowl, yet, three bowls of ice cream. Makes no sense. The follow up drinks stood at the bar on a tray and no one picked them up. We had to ask to get refills on water and we’ve got the whole pitcher to serve ourselves eventually. They clearly had staffing issues and I felt sorry for the few who took the brunt. It doesn’t explain the bad food though. This is not the fine-dining which you would expect given the prices on the menu. Went home unhappy.

Oh dear. Nice dining room that was woefully understaffed. Comically so. Those that were there did try. Drinks and apps took a while to arrive but were good the entrees were not. Steak over cooked, pork chop not good quality. Penne lack in sauce with frozen peas and not hot. I sent back. Was like a left lunch at home.
