This was the third time that my friend and I went to Zarak; the previous time had been for brunch and prior to that, dinner. We wanted to enjoy dinner there again, as there are so many delicious options on the menu (more variety than for brunch). To share, we ordered one serving of the bolani (potato flatbread) with its delicious yogurt accompaniment, the lamb shoulder and the insanely addictive balsamic oyster mushroom kebab. . . Portions were totally reasonable, and we couldn't finish it all (we are not dainty eaters lol). That said, we couldn't resist trying dessert: the dirty chai brownie was a perfect choice to share, as it's quite rich and decadent. The server surprised my friend with firni served in a jar (milk pudding with blueberry compote and fragrant cardamom), when she found out that it was my friend's birthday. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and every single server at Zarak was pleasant, friendly, and thorough in explaining the dishes (ingredients, etc). The ambiance is great, and the decor is lovely. We plan to go back soon and bring more friends along to try it out!

We’ve been back a number of times at Zarak. It’s good to see a restaurant keeping busy with happy customers, one that continues to update its menu. The servers were energetic, attentive and cheerful. We had the half roasted chicken and the slow cooked lamb shoulder as main last night. The meat was so tender and juicy! Will definitely go back again!

Really amazing experience! Good was beyond our expectations! Had one of the owners assisting us with the menu and she was such a gracious host. We really needed something different in Vancouver and Zarak does just that! Will definitely be back! Thank you!

Took 3 requests to get another napkin otherwise service was not bad. Servers were friendly. Really liked the fried chicken appetizer and the tomato lamb shank main. Drinks were intriguing but a little expensive. Overall a good experience!

I was very excited to try this restaurant, but I can only rate my experience as average! Food was good but nothing exceptional, and very expensive. We didn’t get any drinks, still ended up paying 50 CAD each.

We had a wonderful experience at Zarak. Food was flavourful and beautiful, the desserts are an absolute dream. The staff team made us feel so well hosted and at home. The decor and vibe is magical.

Super food! Super experience! The cocktails were fantastic -- inventive, delicious, a little bit sweet which provided a gustatory foreshadow of the meal. We followed the server's advice as to how many dishes from which categories -- but we made our own selections -- and, seriously, each was better than the other. The "fried chicken" was both familiar and novel. Lamb was tender and not at all over cooked. The mantu (spicy beef with charred onion) was especially tasty. The Uzbeki Palaw was a very savory fried rice with raisons for sweetness. I'd suggest listening to the friendly, knowledgable servers.

Very interesting experience for a first time Afghan cuisine taster. Didn't know where to start but the staff is super helpful for suggestions and explanations. Very good comfort food. Great vibe for dinners with friends and families.

Went to Zarak for the 4th time last evening. My partner and I went for his birthday and we have yet to be disappointed by a dish. The service was great as always with their recommendations. We appreciate that Zarak not only serves amazing food but also feels down to earth and is very accessible for all people and occasions. Would highly recommend! Their lamb shank and shoulder are must tries.

Went for the Sunday brunch w/my family & we enjoyed everything. We got there a bit early but was surprised that our table’s ready. The food portions are huge & if you’re not a heavy eater, you may share with someone else. Great value for money! Staff was amazing & took the time to explain/answer any questions we may have since it’s our first time to dine there. We’ll be back!

Second time dining with you and there will be more. The food and service are fabulous. The dumplings are amazing. My sister was visiting Vancouver and she loved it, too.

I wouldn't recommend having an earlier reservation, as we went at 5:15 and had to vacate our table by 7. We were still eating our meal and would have liked to get dessert but were rushed out for the next reservation. That being said, the Brussels sprouts were amazing!

Every time we dine at Zarak we absolutely love the food. It’s been a while since we were there last and the new menu did not disappoint. As always the service was fantastic as were the drinks. We have already booked our next visit in a few weeks.

Lovely service. Quite loud as it’s a small space with tables in close proximity. Got the Full Afghan Plate $29. I thought that price was steep. Food wasn’t served super hot, which it should be. Got the chai $7. It was mediocre. I make better chai at home.

we were last called for brunch when we placed our order - we didn't know they closed between brunch and dinner. also, most of the food served was cold (ex. the waffles for fired chicken, the english muffin for bennies, the toast). the server was kind and ambience of the restaurant is nice - just not sure i'd come back again, especially for brunch

Food was flavorful and great value. Silverware and dishes were beautiful and modern. Server was great but we had to wait a few minutes awkwardly in the front for the host with zero acknowledgement from the many staff members walking by. I would still recommend and return.
