Yangban, the genre-defying Korean American culinary ‘conversation’, which opened in Los Angeles’ Arts District, re-opens after a transformative interior overhaul of the space, revealing an evolution of the highly acclaimed restaurant. Now featuring a full-service dining room and updated food and beverage programs, the concept remains at its core a Modern-Korean American restaurant as told through the lens of husband-and-wife chefs Katianna and John Hong.
Recent awards include: Bon Appetit's 10 Best New Restaurants, Esquire's Best New Restaurants in America + Chefs of the Year, David Chang's Restaurant of the Year, Condé Nast Traveler's Best New Restaurants in the World and recognition from the James Beard Foundation and Michelin.

The experience will start with bites and appetizers, followed by banchan and main dishes, finishing with dessert. Substitutions are politely declined, but we can accommodate all serious allergies. Kindly list all serious allergies or dietary restrictions in your reservation notes when booking your party. Should your party decrease in size, we will charge according to the number of guests the reservation made unless we are contacted with at least 24 hours' notice.

The food was good, I’ll give it that. But there were a slew of other issues. First, earlier in the day I checked Opentable to see if I could change my reservation from 2 to 4 people if necessary. The app said there were tables of 4 available, but I’d have to call the restaurant because I couldn’t modify the reservation on such short notice. I call and speak to the most confused person ever. She keeps telling me that they’re really busy tonight and she doesn’t know if they have tables of 4 available. I tell her according to the app they do. She doesn’t understand. She eventually admits that they do have the times listed on the listed available for 4, but she’s still have to check with someone if I could have the table. Huh? If my husband went into his app he could just take that table. Why couldn’t I? Anyway, I just get off because the whole thing is such a hassle. Then we get to the restaurant at 8:03 for our 8pm reservation. The guy at the host stand says he’ll “get us seated when he can”. There are a ton of people milling around the front so we ask how long he estimates it will be. He says 15-20 mins. Okay, we ask if there’s a bar we can wait at. He says they send people to the restaurant next door because they have a bar. Great. We go next door, we tell the hostess we’re just getting a drink at the bar, they seat us, give us drink menus, we order a drink. Right then my phone rings that our table is ready. So 15-20 minutes turned into 3. Guys- you cannot send people to the restaurant next door to get a drink and then call them three minutes later to come back! This is a terrible policy! You’re really screwing that restaurant next door. Then we get our menus and 2-3 of the dishes I was most excited to try (that made me come in the first place) were gone. And I was looking at the menu on THEIR website. Look, fine, the menu may change, but it’s 2024. When you change the menu- change your website the SAME day. Not hard.

The Server was great but the host seated us away too late for having a reservation. We also saw two other parties who came later than us get seated. Don’t take reservations if you don’t understand what they’re intended for.

Very, very good. The tofu mole and the short ribs were amazing. As wer the blue crab taco and scallop toast. My sibs loved the chocolate dessert.

5-stars throughout the board with good reason. My wife and I came here to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and we were treated with absolute hospitality. Our waiter, Kyle, was attentive, polite, and generally a rad hang. Highlights from the prix-fixe menu include the tteokbokki in mushroom sauce, a buttery cod that melted in your mouth, their signature fried chicken, the decadent short ribs, as well as the cheesecake. While we came to celebrate a special occasion, we can definitely see ourselves dining at Yangban during a casual evening out. Cheers, ya'll.

Really tasty food. Every dish was different and fun to try. We like tasting menus and found this one delicious but heavy portion-wise. The wine list is great and very good value for money. The service was excellent. There is enough staff to keep things moving at a great pace. The restaurant has no sound stuff on walls and ceilings so people get loud and their voices travel. Not great, but tolerable. Overall, this is a keeper. Favorites: salad (every bite amazing) and short ribs. RG.

Man!! Worth every penny! This was a wonderful experience from start to finish! Food was very special and delicious and the waitstaff ( SUSIE!) was friendly and attentive!
